mellie
I received a graduation invitation today from the son of someone from work. The Class of 2008 for a small Missouri town has "Freebird" by Lynyrd Skynyrd as their class song. I think it's interesting that a song released 35 years ago seems to be more relevant or significant to them than new music today. The "Theme from Mahogany (Do You Know Where You're Going To?)" by Diana Ross was my class song. What was yours?

Sherberries
"The Long and Winding Road" which was already an old song then, Lakewood High 1976, Lakewood Ohio.I didn't vote for that one, I voted for "Dream On" by Aerosmith which was a current song then. I didn't know a girl would bust his hopes for another boy!I can laugh now, but she can't. Lovely lass, too.In my year, it waws "Dancin' On A Saturday Night" by the Bay City Rollers.BTW, anyone know how I can find "Lucy, Lucy, Lucy?" Seems to be a no finder. boopell
Annie-I'm '79 too!Are these official class songs or prom themes? I don't remember having a class song. Prom themes we had.
Tiggsherby
I love that song Annie, I think it was in the running for our class song in "78....but my school was 90% black (or shall I say African American), hence the George Benson selection! angelina
Great George Benson story.....It must've been around 1987 or 1988 and I took a day off from work on Wall St. and was working out at the gym in Englewood Cliffs, NJ. The place is empty at that time of day (approx 11AM). I finish the workout, hit the showers..and I hear the most amazing "beepity bop - scat" in the lockerroom. A moment later, this unassuming looking African American guy steps out and noticing he wasn't alone...just slinked off to the other side of the lockerroom. Turns out it was George Benson who was recording in Northern NJ at the time.(And NO...I never took my eyes south of his neck.). In the meantime....even though I graduated in '77 our song was "He Ain't Heavy" by The Hollies.John
Captain Harlock
I don't remember what my class song was. It was the late 80's and rap was taking hold so it's probably better that I don't remember.
Muzza
We didn't have a class song as such but Little Town Flirt by Del Shanon was popular with us boys as we sat and watched the girls strut by!!! See Ya later Aligator - Bill Hayley and the Comets - was adopted by our Rugby team one season as we topped the table. Muzza
Duane
The theme was "Goodbye Doesn't Mean Forever"The song was actually "The Goodbye Girl" by David Gates...I like David Gates...West Hardin High School - 1979
marlene
The only song that comes to mind is our prom theme... "Stairway To Heaven". Very cheesy decorations of stars, the moon...etc., and a huge golden stairway leading up to nowhere that we all had our pictures taken on..yikes !
mannoman
Class song? There was no such thing when I graduated.

GMan
We didn't have a class song either, as I attended an all boys(easy....easy...on the remarks) Catholic Institution. The only females were the school nurse and the CPR dummy. That poor doll..OMG. What we did have that was cool, was a juke box in our cafeteria. I remember bringing in "The Ballad of John and Yoko" and getting one of my classmates to put it in the juke box. This was the fall of '69 so when the song used to come on and the whole cafeteria screamed "Christ, ya know it ain't easy"!, the whole faculty would shoot us an unsavory glance. Needless to say...it was removed.....BLASPHEMY...they screamed!! lol..sorry I got a little off track here.
marvin
We didn't have a 'class song' either. It was 1976-77 when I graduated from high school, and the 'big' Top 40 artists of the day on Montreal radio were Supertramp, Peter Frampton ("Do You Feel Like We Do"), Eagles ("Hotel California"), and Fleetwood Mac.
