Paul McCartney & Heather Split

The age thing is all tied up in your own self-esteem.

You see yourself a certain way and do what you need you to maintain it. Some work out, some dye their hair, some nip and tuck, some do nothing.

When I think about it, my hair is my pride and joy. It used to be long, streaky blond all by itself, no dye.

Now, it's so fine and thin, i cut it shorter and added highlights and lowlights (reds!) to keep it interesting for me.

I know my uncle in England had reddish wavy hair for years while his brothers (my dad for one) had silvery gray with some auburn, I found out his wife was making him dye it so he would look younger! I wonder if my auntie was hanging out with Heather!

My uncle's gone natural and is a beautiful silver.

Look at American Idol - I love Taylor's hair.

Eric - your hair suits you the way it is...I don't look at you and think "he's got gray hair" or visualize you as older...you're just Eric. The transition has been gradual.

The difference between they way we see you and they way Heather sees Paul?

unconditional love and acceptance.

Big factor and he deserves so much more.

I'm 47 and I'm just glad that I still have all my hair! I work with a couple of brothers in thier late twenties and are completely bald. Thay told me they're jealous of me! LOL

Anyway, what I wanted to say was Divorce is always ugly. I have a couple of friends that went through it, and it's always worse when children are involved. For the childs sake, I hope this doesn't get "ugly" between Paul and Heather....

EC, I think Charlie Sheen is kind of a messed up guy, but a functional one. He's been a pampered Hollywood kid all his life. He has an addictive personality, so any vice he dabbles in seems to consume him till he gets arrested or friends and family stage an intervention. You know his wacky liberal dad won't pass judgement on him. He must find out about the excesses of life for himself.

So Denise probably thought, "Having kids with wonderful me will purge ole Charley from his nasty habits..." WRONG!

Annie really put it all together, didn't she?LOL I'm 46 and my friends really have to work hard on me to not equate my value with the numbers on a scale or the size tag in clothing. I would imagine when you really step back and take an honest look, we each have our own insecurities and demons that we try to face down.

Eric, you might find this really interesting! Teens and young adults have a tendency to look at anyone over 30 as "old". But when my daughter, also an Annie (13), saw the Hangin' With The Raspberries show she got the biggest, most surprised look on her face and said, "Look at Eric, Mom! He looks exactly the same!" She sees what we see --- sparkling eyes, a mischievous smile, and an energized presence. I wasn't crazy about the blonde hair before because I think it detracted from your wonderful, dark eyes. On the other hand, I'm glad to see the silver because that goes with your natural coloring and brings those eyes right back out again! I can imagine that as you watch this story unfold it must be unnerving at times to be one of those celebrities changing on a public stage in front of the world. I'm sure if you or Paul tried you could find a Judas in every camp. But all I can tell you is that HERE, amongst true friends, the majority of us have a love and devotion to ERIC --- not just the manifested image or idol Eric Carmen. We enjoy the husband who talks about the Eastover tradition he's built with his wife, the father who talks about the joy he feels in his son's piano lessons or his daughter wanting to be a ballerina. All of these things come through and are ageless, dear friend.<smile>

Well spoken, Ecstacy. There's real substance in our musical hero and friend Eric, for all those reasons you point out at the end of your post --- things that impressed me when Eric posted them... the piano comment especially, because earlier tonight, my 6-year-old daughter was practicing for her first piano recital (it's tomorrow, Friday), and to be honest, I was gettin' a little choked up hearing her plunk out "Mary Had a Little Lamb," and then seeing the satisfied smile on her face when she finished it and looked up at me. What a moment. But I digress.... Just wanted to say: You're right on....

Well said Ecstasy and LC...haven't we come a long way(baby) from letting a "bad hair day" ruin our entire day???!!!

Tony - one point about Charlie Sheen: I don't think his dad is as liberal with his kids as you think: when Charlie went off the wagon, defying court ordered sobriety, Martin marched him to the judge and reported him. Got him put right back in jail (or rehab)Tough love to be sure.

A new wrinkle in the Paul/Heather split. British newspaper,The Sun, just published pornographic photos of Heather from a German photo shoot several years ago.

Knowing how frugal McCartney is and with his standing to lose a great deal of money, one wonders if McCartney's people had the pictures leaked to the press to damage any credibility Heather might have had.

We can't, just CAN'T use naked pictures AGAINST our female celebrities! If we do, they won't pose anymore!

Don't you realize that Jennifer Aniston was just a couple of low box-office movies away from showing us in Playboy whether they are real or not?

Then came that damn "The Break-Up" movie hit...Now she's not desperate anymore... :(

Oh, that reminds me, Nobody go see the next few Jessica Alba movies in the theaters. ;)

You know, where are the ethics in journalism anymore? Just because something is offered for publication, doesn't mean it should be published.

I guess the press just knows our human nature all too well....what's titillating, sells.

No titillating jokes Tony!!!!

I understand the British press is particularly vicious....anybody see George Clooney's movie production "Paparazzi"??

Talk about wishful thinking!

Tony, as a strict adherent to the teachings of The Darlene-lama, I must shine my light in the darkest recesses and crannies of society. Thus my attendance at The Soda Shoppe.

And also I really like the chicks there and it's a lot of fun!

OK, it's my chance to chime in, being the Hofner playing guy named Paul that I am...hailing from Liverpool (New York, that is)...and set to marry a girl named LINDA this August...at Strawberry Fields.

I saw the pictures of Heather via The Sun online. She has some nice, er...uh...endowments. But man, that gap in her teeth, the awful 80's hair, and the gay-looking (not that there's anything wrong with that) male model made me ill.

To think her photo shoot was for a "love-making enhancement" book. With no words. Published in Germany....the squeaky clean country. LOL.

I find it very interesting that this is all surfacing NOW.

After reading many articles, AND that entertainly-written letter to the Daily Mail from the fiance' she literally left at the altar for Sir Paul...I have decided is she psycho. Unstable. Bi-polar. Multiple personality disorder. Whatever. She has made her bed and now she must sleep in it.

The British press are worse than New York press. They will scratch and claw deeper for crap than any incredulous Big Apple gossip columnist. In The Sun's online article regarding Heather's porn accusations, they have a line that states (something like): Our lawyers are waiting.
