Paul McCartney & Heather Split

Bernie, you hit the point exactly. Paul and Linda's marriage was unusual, especially in the entert. world, for its length, mutual devotion, etc.. Hard to believe that Sir Paul ignored the advice of his lawyers and decided against a pre-nup agreement. Could be a rough road ahead, indeed. I guess Heather will not be needing him "when he turns 64" next month.

I'm not surprised, saw them both on Larry King a couple months agao and they barely looked at one another. Can you just imagine that conversation!:

HEATHER: Im out of here bloke, blimey ,and Im and Im taking our little baby with me. Where's me wooden leg?

PAUL: Heh luv, dont take our little Courtney, I really dig her, yeah.

HEATHER: Her name aint Courtney you git!, yer going senile Pauley, can't even remember her name.

PAUL: It's all the weed Im afraid.

HEATHER: What's the sense of all this anyway?, I could pass for yer youngest daughter.

PAUL: Alright then, well see ya later luv. Here's a check for $500,000,000 but I keep all my Beatles records.

HEATHER: And you can keep the Linda photo albums too. See you in court McCartney.

(Heather exits)

PAUL: (picks up guitar) "You think the World would have enough of silly love songs,,, I look around and I see it isnt so,,'oh no......"

Heather also reportedly made Paul remove images of Linda from his "biographical" pre-concert video shown before last year's tour. It was really sad to see so many clips of Paul and Wings and only one shot of Linda's back amongst the hundreds of other images. I feel sorry for Paul and Linda's kids who were against this marriage from the start.

Lawyer fan, I read that "My Love" was pulled from Paul's set lists at Heather's insistance. I hadn't heard that about "Maybe I'm Amazed," but if it's true, Paul ignored her on that one, because I believe he kept playing it---at least in Boston (I was there) and a few other shows I read about in reviews.

Heather... well, she definitely came off as someone who had an agenda, didn't she?

Touring the world and smiling for the cameras...It's hard to be in love that way...Can't get off the plane or out of the car...Without some reporter asking how you are...It's just crazy the way the stars have to carry on...It's like whatever kind of love they ever had lived and died in the public domain.

In an amazing display of irony, her book announcement was made the same day as the separation news item!

LIFE BALANCE: The essential keys to a lifetime of well being

Heather Mills McCartney and Ben Noakes

'Over the years I have had periods of affluence and times of near penury, times of good health and times of injury and illness. I have learned that peace of mind has very little to do with luxury or leisure.' -- Heather Mills McCartney

Heather Mills McCartney and Ben Noakes have been friends for over ten years, since they worked together on a series of films that Heather presented for BBC Pebble Mill. Both have experienced rocky times in their lives and learnt to overcome them: Heather throughout her childhood and when she had the accident that resulted in her losing her leg; Ben reached a very low point in his life four years ago when his TV production company went bust, he lost his home, and his wife left him, taking their three small children with her. He went from having a large Georgian house near Hampstead Heath and a Bentley, to living alone in a bedsit, saddled with debts.

One thing Heather and Ben have come to recognise in each other is that they are both survivors. The germ of the idea for Life Balance grew out of this awareness. What is it, they wondered, that makes certain people better able to survive life's knocks? And how are some people able to turn adversity to their advantage? These are the themes that are central to Life Balance.

When we achieve and maintain balance in our every day lives, the punches that life throws no longer feel as though they will overwhelm us, they are simply other challenges to be met.

This is not a ghost written celebrity book about how to lead a perfect life. Nor is it a book written by 'experts'. Neither Heather nor Ben claim to be specialists in this field, but then who is? The book came about after Heather had helped hundreds of people overcome adversity and obstacles in life, from amputees to friends and business colleagues like Ben. It was Ben's idea that Heather's 'University of Life' experience in these areas would be a great idea for a book to try and help many others. Their intention in writing this book together is to write personally about their own friendship and the ways in which they each try to maintain stability in their lives. They also lay out a set of tools that can be used by anyone who wishes to adopt a more balanced, healthy lifestyle - the essential keys for life balance - and to provide you with the confidence to take hold of any of these tools and use them to improve your own life.

Life Balance is the perfect book for anyone looking to achieve that thing we all cherish and very few have - a stress free life.

YES!!

I can just see that books advice and "tools" for everyone:

(excerpt)

"...well, first you have to find yourself a really wealthy man, luv. Even if you have to pretend to be interested in all the things his first wife was into in order pique his interest.

Dress very provocatively, unless ofcourse you have a wooden leg, in which case an elegant

pants suit will do. After you got 'em hooked, destroy all evidence related to his former wife.

Let him poke you one until you're "preggers" so a little baby is on the way cementing his emotional attachment. After a time, start to badger and whine and complain about everything, including all the things he loves, even if its drugs and George Harrison's guitar playing. After a short time he will completely despise you and the tools you need to truly meet adversity in this world (i.e. "BIG MONEY) will soon be yours!....."

Paul is simply too nice and trusting of a guy. Michael burned him and now Heather. Linda was no Yoko and perhaps she is finally getting her due. He took a lot of grief for working Linda into the band, and in hindsight, how long would Wings have lasted with Heather...? Linda endured

Once a spouse starts enforcing the set list, there is trouble.

McCartney was touring colleges with Denny Laine when he decided that Wings needed a show stopper of a song. Ironically I believe Maybe I'm Amazed was already written (which is a better song than I'm about to mention) he came up with , the most Linda song he ever wrote, was My Love.

Saw Paul a couple years ago (second best concert I've ever seen) and come to think of it, he might not of sung that song.

I'm sure they are both nice people. I look at people with two litmus tests....

One, irregardless of their accomplishments, would they be intersting to sit down for an hour and have a drink with...

and two...

In the middle of the night, your caught without your wallet and you need a couple hundred bucks for bail for a bogus traffic violation, who do you call? When you really think about it, the list tends to be shorter than you think...

As an aside, Eric is at the top of the list to shoot the breeze at happy hour, I only hang out with people that have a sense of humour...,

I do feel a bit sad for both parties, especially Paul. People make similar mistakes, each day, in every city, state and country all over the world. Yet this one makes international news. The father of a friend of mine was Ed Sullivan's main publicity agent years before he set up his own firm here in NYC. I recall him mentioning that Paul was the "nicest" of all the stars / celebrities he dealt with over the years. When Princess Diana died, it was said the world needed a good cry. With Paul's marital problems, I guess the world needs, unfortunately, some entertainment. Guess that is the price one pays for fame.
