GMan
I mean...if you're gonna have Dickey Betts.....how the hell could you NOT have Duane Allman?????

JohnO
I can see most of the studio aces not making this list....read the selection criteria! Tedesco has always been God on guitar, for example, but live experience is also being considered....as is sales, and I'm guessing that very, very few ever bought a record because Tommy T. played on it! wimvriezen
Missing list:1. Wally Bryson2. Jan Akkerman3. Chet Atkins4. Nils Lofgren5. Adje Vandenberg
Guest Fresh
Two other studio greats: Hank Garland and Neil Levang.

CubbiefanMike
I agree with most of the choices but would rank Alex Lifeson higher...Some other players forgotten:Michael RutherfordSteve HackettAnthony PhillipsTommy ShawTerry Kath
Danny S.
Thank You Mike...I agree.I thought I was the only Rush fan on this board....
James
The concept piece, "2112" on the album "2112" is the best album side of music, ever.IMHO, of course..-James
hollies65
Glad you added that last sentence.Hollies65
marvin
The concept piece, "2112" on the album "2112" is the best album side of music, ever.IMHO, of course..-James Really? I might be the only Canadian who's never heard this piece of music. Well the only Canadian on EC.COM anyway.
James
Really. It's Neil Peart's best storytelling, and Rush musically at their best....hard driving kick fanny rock, intertwined with some beautiful softer melodies. And Alex Lifeson's guitar playing on this album maybe alone warrants his listing here..-James
marvin
Just not a fan of RUSH, so there was never any interest on my part to listen to the music. It did rank very high in the recent "Best Canadian Albums" book.
James
Listening to "2112" at least once, should be a prerequisite to Canadian citizenship, IMHO of course..
Mitch
While not being a huge Rush fan, 2112 is still one of my favorite albums of all time. I consider it a musical masterpiece. And Alex Lifeson is an amazing guitar player !Peace....
CubbiefanMike
2112 is one my all time favorite albums... Moving Picture and Permanent Waves are also great.... Also forgotten in the 100 list:David GilmourSyd BarrettJohn Denver
hollies65
Denver and Barrett were no top 100 guitar players. Neither was Gilmour IMO, but he was a better player than the other two.
GMan
Where the hell is Roy Buchanan??? He would put most of these guys in his back pocket. I know I know...there are tons of great players who didn't get a mention. Even though I'm not a huge "Blues" guy....you gotta admire the talent some of these guys have. Daisy McLintock
The age of the person who devised the list might be a hint as to why the names of those mentioned here in this thread are not on the list. Also, if the person who devised the list did not do a significant amount of research, he/she will be lacking twofold.
