Al K
When the last 3 Cleveland shows were played in 2004-2005, many people associated with the band would often (and still do) hear from fans that they had no idea the band reunited, played three shows, released a new CD, etc. Well, that problem should be solved beginning today. The Playhouse Square Foundation, which is promoting the Cleveland show, has committed major dollars to advertising this show. We've put together a marketing campaign with dedicated ads in both today's Cleveland Plain Dealer Friday magazine and the Lake County News Herald's TGIF magazine, plus 30 and 60 second radio spots on WNCX 98.5 FM, WMJI 105.7 FM, and WTAM 1100 AM. Listen to those stations also for ticket and deluxe CD giveaways!!Spread the word!!
Raspbernie
Can someone send me a newspaper or a scan of the ad to post here? Thanks. Bernie
Tim From Wisconsin
That is awesome! Let's hope for a sellout - I see that the following night is open on the venue's event calendar... Tim

Trindy
Damn, my copy of the Plain Dealer is back at work. I did see the ad in the Friday magazine, though. Quarter page, right?
Jenny309
I sincerly hope someone has grabbed the Promotional Bull-by-the-horns (for lack of better explicative) for this upcoming State Theatre show Dec 14th. I will be the first to say how ridiculously poor the HOB folks handled the Promotion for the first 'Go-Round' of Berries shows 2004-'05. I dont care what the excuse was AL, I think band management should have bitched bigtime. Im not sure who Al K is, but I bet if Eric or Jim had their way someone would have gotten 'FIRED" for simple fact that the Cleveland Berries shows were not advertised very well, esp the Nautica show July 2005. I think I read more about how bad the PA/Sound was managed etc, etc etc and the damn Venue was only a lil more than HALF-Capacity.....DUH!! There is NO Excuse. Its indefensible, sorry, its just how I feel. BTW AL K...are you making arrangements that the State Theatre show on Dec 14th is recorded properly, both audio/Video. Let's see, we've all heard and read all 'bout the Screw-up in Chicago...as being probably their BEST performance, or how bout the 2nd (Sunday) NYC show from Summer 2005, again supposedly not recorded. Please make sure there are NO MORE Mistakes and the rest of these Shows are recorded and Preserved forever. Peace, Jen.
hollies65
Yeah Al...Whoever you are...what the hell is going on? This whole Berries getting back together has been a complete disaster! [uh...I'm just kidding Al...I think things are going pretty well.]

I'm confused. I thought the first show in Cleveland (unadvertised) sold out in only four minutes, and wasn't the New Years Eve 2004 show in Cleveland also sold out? That's not shabby at all. I suppose Eric can probably say why there was no advertising, if he wants to. I'm guessing they didn't have an advertising budget and/or advertising wasn't included in the venue contracts. With t.v., radio, and print ads out now, I'll bet the Cleveland folks get out and show 'em proud again!
Art
I say this would be a GREAT promotion: IF the Tribe beats Boston, get the Raspberries to sing the National Anthem at one of the World Series games, accompanied during the game by scoreboard advertising. Hometown heroes always are picked to sing, and what better NATIONAL exposure??? Al, Bernie: this is something that is definitely doable and would pay big dividends. If you could talk Rykodisc into showing the DVD spot a couple of times during the game, you'd really have it made.
HT from Mo
Aren't AL and Al K the same person folks? From the sound of how the first reunion gigs went I'd say excellent! There is only so much one person can do to get the promotion of the concert in Dec. We have to remember that most likely Al Kaston may work a FT day job in addition to promoting the band.Give him a break! Thanks Al K for everything that you do!HT
marvin
Al is the 'berries' manager, and basically he's "Mr-doing-it-all" when it comes to spreading the good word. There are a few of us here who were at both Cleveland shows in 2004. The 1st one was definitely a sell-out, but I don't New Year's Eve sold out.
Art
I'd give Al a high vote of confidence. Sure, promotion has been fairly poor so far, but the Cleveland show is being promoted agressively. I doubt that Al had much of a promotion budget to work with earlier.

As I understand it most of the Promotional Budget has come out of The Boys own pockets!

JumpMan
I see you received the ad bernie. Cool! This morning around 7:20am on WTAM 1100 AM I heard an ad for the show. The ad indicated that it's (the show) a chance to hear one of Cleveland's legends. Very cool!!
