Don_Krider
Nice comments, Chris. I'm hoping Al or Bernie has a photo of Mark Linett and the guys to post. I can't recall seeing one. Mark Linett
I wish there was such a picture. Tho I've spent hours on the phone with JIm and especially Eric, we only met at the HOB show nearly two years ago. Thanks for the nice comments about the project. I am very proud of being involved and happy that it has finally been released. Mark Linett
blackhawkpat
I can't say enough about the job you and Eric did, Mark. Thanks for bringing your expert sound techniques to the greatest powerpop band in the world. I really hope if the group does any more projects or Eric does any solo recordings that you will be involved. A fantastic match!

You captured everything from a live concert and made the recordings sound better than the original recordings, which stunned me. Your obvious love for the band shines through. Thanks for the photo link, too. I hope the guys get together with you one of these days for a group photo. Don Krider
When I'm Cool
Hi Mark! It arrived today and I've spent a beautiful summer day inside watching the DVD. This is just excellent stuff. Man, I wish I was you. Thank you! Scott
mellie
Mark, your magic touch has made Live on Sunset Strip the best live music recording ever produced. There couldn't have been a better legacy for the band that started power pop and I can't think of four guys who deserve this more than the Raspberries! If I had any connections, I would be lobbying for an AMA nomination. You have really outdone yourself. Thank you very much.
Mark Linett
You're welcome. I wore out my original copy of "Starting Over" when it came out (still have it) and even transferred it to CD before the album was issued in the UK a few years back. So working with the band on this live project was a thrill for me as well , and a definate career high point.Mark

Mark, coming from a guy who was Grammy-nominated for Brian Wilson's "Smile" album, having you call your work on Raspberries "Live On Sunset Strip" "a definate career high point" is a major compliment. It's really great having you post here. Don Krider
JohnO
Mark - You did your usual outstanding job!!!....and every once in awhile, I'll be playing a CD and glance at the credits, and there you are again! During my drive from NYC to NJ on Saturday morning, I was playing the live Blasters' CD, "Trouble Bound" (had just seen them at BB Kings on Friday night)...and there's your name again! If I recall, you also did the recent Arthur Lee/Love "Forever Changes" show as well as most of (or all of) the Brian W. solo albums. And that's not even bringing up the old Hendrix live shows (Winterland, etc.). Question - How many LPs have you engineered, produced, mixed, etc.? It's gotta be in the hundreds, I'm guessing...Has it mostly been live shows? Just curious....

darlene
Chris hit it right on the head: *true* sound of Raspberries. I think I used that word when describing how perfect the cd/dvd is to both Eric and Jim on Saturday. Having been at a lot of Raspberries in the old days, I'm amazed at how you and Eric captured their "true" sound--crystal clear, like the band is playing right in my family room, six feet away! *That* is a real accomplishment! Thanks so much, Mark, for your monumental contribution to this incredible cd/dvd project! It's a shining star in the industry--I would say a real benchmark, actually, more like a *milestone*--and the industry *will* take notice. --Darlene

Mark Linett
Question - How many LPs have you engineered, produced, mixed, etc.? It's gotta be in the hundreds, I'm guessing...Has it mostly been live shows? Just curious.... I've been doing this for over 30 years (ouch!) so it may well be in the hundreds. Probably more studio albums than live ones actually, but I've always loved doing live records" , and have had various forms of live recording gear since the mid 80's. My recent projects have included Billy Ray Cyrus' new CD which is climbing the country charts, the fourth album from the Oakland cow punk band Red Meat plus a lot of work with Brian Wilson demoing songs for his new project. Gene
I should have shot Mark in LA. Wait, that doesn't sound right. I think that was Mark working on some gear after the show. I should have photographed him, but I was running all over the HOB trying to find Al so we could get Mark a Raspberries T-shirt. In the process, I also missed taking a picture of Rick Springfield. Al later said the T-shirt got delivered. That's the important thing!
