seattlesteve
Did everyone notice that the autographs were signed in the position the band plays on stage, and a particular nice touch was the positioning of Wally's flying V on the right side of the picture where he plays and autographed. Was this intentional? And is there a story to the cover alley scene? It's a cool picture, just curious
Eric Carmen
Nope. Just the way we sat down at the table. ec
angelina
Hey Steve....I DID notice Wally's flying V signature but hadn't noticed the postioning of the autographs. Nice observation!John

Raspbernie
The initial inspiration for the cover came from Ken Sharp who suggested I should work up an idea using Jim Bullotta's L.A. concert poster (which happens to be an homage to an equally fab Beatles concert poster). So, I plastered an L.A. wall with concert posters. Then I thought it might be cool to include something distinctly Raspberries, and what else but Wally's famous Flying V guitar? So I propped that against the wall and added a small cardboard box next to it 'cause I was imagining Wally sitting there on the box picking out some tunes on the V and leaning it against the wall just before the photo would have been taken I'm really proud of how the whole package looks—front, back, spine and sticker—and thank Eric and the rest of the boys for trusting me with the design of Raspberries' new album! (I still get tingly when I say that...Raspberries NEW album!) Bernie

HT from Mo
Yes, brilliant indeed. Now, about the next collaboration, a new Rasbperry song??? Bernie on guitar and Eric on the piano. The possiblities are endless! HT
darlene
This could launch you even higher than "Got Milk?" How about, "Got RASPBERRIES?! --Dar

Raspbernie
Let me also say that I worked VERY closely with Eric on the design. He called the shots, I just fired It was his idea that the cover be something cool and original rather than just a shot of the band on stage. We actually spent a lot of time researching live album covers. I think at one point I had compiled about 50 of the best live album covers for discussion. Cozmik
It is a very striking cover. I love the angles and lines of the photograph. This really makes me miss vinyl albums and 12" by 12" album covers.

One thing I was hoping for was for Ryko to make some promotional 12x12 flats for record stores, but it seems like even that minimal amount of in-store advertising ain't gonna see the light of day Bernie

hollies65
Does anyone have an answer for the reason some stores...[i'm looking at you Borders and B&N] have not restocked since they sold their copies two weeks ago? How is a product supposed to take off anymore? Is that now a thing of the past? If a lable chooses to release a product don't they want to move it when there appears to be some groundswell? Man...I must be a dinosaur.

Just an idea if you're interested, but I took Bernie's flyer/poster and am having it laminated and framed. It'll hang on the wall next to the autographed lithograph that was offered at the 1st reunion show. Marv
raspathens
I think it's cool that when the Raspberries sit down together, they naturally get into their stage positions.
hosskratz
Bernie, It's funny how you pictured the cover, I have always thought that if Eric ever did a live cd of his solo work, it would be awesome to have a picture of a Symphony Orchestra around a sihloetted (sorry if I spelled it wrong) grand piano with a tiny spotlight shining on the seat. Just my crazy thought, cause I would love to hear his solo music performed acoustically with a full symphony.
stringer
Very nice cover, and I love Wally's guitar there. A nice 70's touch.
darlene
The cover is so far beyond cool. Marvin, I love your idea about hanging it on the wall. B&N kept saying they can't put up any ads except what corporate sends them, so I'm definitely getting on corporate to carry "Raspberries Live..." and get some corporate ads in the stores and am gonna bug the other places too, like Best Buy. --Darlene
