James
Fanny is a smokin great pop song. Could be the Bee Gees best song of them all. P.S. Kyle!!!!!....your NOB cover is phenomenal!! You did the vocals extraordinarily well, man. Would love to hear you do "Fanny....". PPS "Maincourse is one of 4 or so albums I consider for greatest album of all time. It´s that good. (quiet Kirk : ) ).......It´s the BeeGees at their traditional pop/ballad best, but at the same time they introduced a wonderful funk sound on the album ("Winds of Change" and some others) that was better than the disco stuff the funk would beget on following albums. James Thanks for the kind words James! "Fanny" would be a bit of a daunting task to cover, but I think it's still within the realm of possibility. Although, even the Bee Gees themselves went on record saying they didn't do the song live because the vocal layers were so complex! Main Course is easily within my top 3 Bee Gees albums. It usually vies for the top spot with Spirits Having Flown and Odessa. However, most of their albums are great IMO. There are only a couple I'm lukewarm on, but that's pretty good considering there's over 20 of 'em!

Matthew C. Clark
Speaking of Fanny, great woman group on Reprise Records (1970 - 1975)!!!

I actually did a multi tracked vocal cover a while back as I was that in love with the song! The brothers' harmonies are absolutely incredible on it. Fanny is another one from the Main Course album that blows me away with every listen. Wow- Kyle, the lost Bee Gee! Really great!!
Matthew C. Clark
OOPS, Fanny made one more album on Casablanca NOT Reprise in early 1975.

James
Fanny is underrated, by most, including me though I've always loved it,...underrated probably cuz it was a 45 vs deep cut, and possibly overplayed on the radio back in the day. "Country Lanes" has traditionally been my favorite from the album, but I'm changing it to Fanny now. One of the best pop songs ever, that crescendo climax part at the end is music orgasm. PS agree with Susie, Kyle was such a great addition here, hope he comes back, and if we're lucky, he'll have some music of his to share! LC
Great thread, going back 15 years! I just read through it all — so many cool tidbits here, including Eric's insight, plus some from Billy Sullivan. I'm surprised it stalled after only three and a half pages! Kirk
At the time of the message board's......vacation, Kyle was looking at the possibility of doing Starting Over. Hope he checks back in!
LC
Seems like I bump this every February 20-something... or at least a couple times. Some good reading for newer posters who may have missed out on the fun.
