mellie
Sweet ride. But Eric, I'm curious about this internal debate. What sort of dialogue was that? Was there a mini-Eric on one shoulder and a red devil on the other shoulder carrying on about money, value, style, etc?
Raspyrock
Was the internal debate between British and German cars .... or just between purple and black??
Eric Carmen
It was the "practical" versus "I want it" debate. The practical side of me was saying "Oh, just get a Range Rover, it's got all that room, very luxurious, big and safe, lots of room for the kids....", and the little devil on my other shoulder was saying "Yeah, but you only live once and that Jag is soooo beautiful, you're a musician not a soccer mom, go ahead, live a little, maybe you can pick up a used SUV for the winter!" The little devil won when my kids fit in the back seat. ec
danmichel
That's right Eric!...You paid a lot of rock 'n roll dues to get that Jag...It's time you enjoy the fruits of your labors.
HT from Mo
So was it a hard choice on colors?
Eric Carmen
Well, you know, Jag does have some beautiful colors, but I've always been partial to black and they just happened to have a black one right there on the showroom floor. And a friend of mine owns the dealership. And apparently, there aren't that many XKR's floating around due to the price tag. Lots of XK's but not that many XKR's. So, I took it as an omen. Right car, right color, right time. ec
Raspyrock
Black is always classic, just don't lean up against it in the heat of the summer. Timingis always the key at car dealerships -- so I've found in the past. Now it's time to buy the radar detector Eric! (And just get the used SUV as a winter rat). Bessieboo
Oh sure the kids fit in the back, I have heard that one before too. Somehow, I don't think muddy soccer cleats and ice cream cones will make it into the XKR's back seat. That is why Moms drive SUV's, mini-vans and station wagons! angelina
Way to go Eric. A parent can be wonderful, caring and responsible yet still give in to the little devil once in a while. You and your wife will enjoy the evening rides with the top down and the stars overhead. You can always schlep the kids and groceries around in a more practical vehicle. That's why our sedan and van are in the driveway, but the yellow 350Z convertible gets the garage. I mean test drive before making that "pratical" vs. "I want it" decision?
LobsterLvr
I just found this at his son's MySpace page, and thought you'd all like to see what he thinks of his dad's new car:"My poopy head dad just buyed a really cool car named jagwar. It is cool but he is a poopy head becoz there is no place for my sister's sippy cups or my shin guards, and it doz not have a dvd player. whenever we are in the car without mom my dad makes us duck down inthe back seat when we drive by other moms and he shouts out the window 'helloooo ladies'. it makes him happy so i guess its a cool car. i just wish it had a dvd player."dave
Bessieboo
Eric may be in for trouble, there seems to be some repressed teasing beginning to surface. Sorry Mr Carmen, no "ill will" intended but we have behaved so well, until now. I'm just happy you have turned a corner.
LobsterLvr
Eric, doesn't it feel good to be good to yourself?Last weekend I bought a kayak (with all the fixins). My last 3 years have had more than its share of valleys. Treating myself to something I've always wanted just feels so good....and so deserved.Dave
