Raspberries After Starting Over

Recommended Posts

Yep, you are correct John.

Hollies, Capitol just didn't take the Raspberries or Eric as serious song writers and the song would have been lucky to see the light of day. I don't believe they would have ever released it as a single (remember, Capitol thought of them as a teen band with a primarily young female following) and it would have died within the grooves of the vinyl.

Capitol didn't (still doesn't) have a Clive, which made all the difference.

As Eric said "...we were locked in image prison..."

At the 'berries show in NYK in 2005, Diane introduced me to a friend who actually worked for Capitol in the early 1970's. I had a discussion with him about the way the 'berries were treated, and although he had nothing to do with promotion or A&R, he quite honestly said, "we (Capitol) were more interested in promoting our 'big' acts like Grand Funk, and Steve Miller."
