last night
I am posting this in hopes that the band will read it and consider adding these songs back to the setlist for the West Coast shows.CAASM is a fun number, and their first recording, right? Historically significant and a chance for Wally to sing another lead!Same goes for DWTSG. This was the song I was most looking forward to hearing live, and it was not included in theCleveland Scene Pavillion set. Their first single, and another chance for Wally to shine on vocal. Thanks in advance guys!
aggiesjc
I would love to hear those songs, too! Especially DWTSG! I'll cross my fingers we hear it in LA!
Tony Cartmill
"Come Around And See Me" is not in the same league as "DWTSG"...Just the same band.
last night
OK. Thanks for that. Nice "Angie Baby" quote.
MAM
From what I understand, "caasm", from their original demos, IS the song that got them signed, so that would be of historical significance. I'd love to hear "I Saw The Light".
Gregkevinw
the "i saw the light" demo, actually has better background vocals imo... they sound fuller more layered......mam, you're right about "caasm"getting the berries signed...ienner liked the playfulness of the band at the end of that song.... Bill C
Don't want to say Goodbye needs to be on the set list. I can't believe they would leave off a charted single! This song is one of my Top 5 and I don't know if the boys realise it or not, but the Carmen/Bryson credit and vocal has a magical effect. When played live like the first night, I got the feeling (weather it's true or not) that in the back of Eric & Wally's minds was...Here's a song we wrote together, sang together and now after all these years are performing together. Not to get overly sensative...but I thought it was a magical moment at that first concert....Eric,Wally...don't sell this song short...it has special meaning to us as well...First single released...just a great song. aggiesjc
They didn't play it in NY, though...
pierson
amen... I saw them do "Don't Want To Say Goodbye" in Cleveland & was blown away by the Eric/Wally vocal combo & how well they played it... it's also a rare side of the band that's more- "White Album"-ish than pre-Sgt Pepper....same goes for "I Saw The Light" which was transcendent.... please put these songs back & get rid of some of the cover versions, pleeze.... darlene
Don't Want To Say Goodbye, for all of the reasons Bill C cited, is a very beautiful and emotional song for me, and it completely blew me away in Cleveland as well. Wally and Eric are surely very aware of all those precious reasons. They have only so much time onstage, and in trying to accomodate some fan requests (like just the four 'Berries alone), they have to leave something out at some of the shows. It's obvious to me that they are, in their fine tradition, looking to make every upcoming show better than the last *and* try to "evolve" and provide variety to fans at the same time. I can only imagine the complexity of this unfolding miracle!Their leaving something off a show doesn't lead me to believe that they're not going to do it on a future show. Don't Want To Say Goodbye is one I'm looking forward to seeing them perform again also. --D
Chas
DWTSG was one of the many highlights of the first Cleveland reunion show.

Tony Cartmill
"I Can Hardly Believe You're Mine" and "All Through The Night" would ROCK live from Starting Over...Scott and Mike could use a little residual glory from that classic album. wimvriezen
DON'T WANNA SAY GOODBYE is such a great song, I was blown away in Chicago too, thanks to Kathy I didn't fall on the floor. They have to play it on EVERY show, and not only while this one is for more than 33 years my alltime favorite song.
last night
Hurray! I just read (in another thread) about these two songs being added back into the A.C. set---and that the band mentioned on stage that the change was made because of requests on the message board. If this addition to the set had anything to do with me originally starting this thread, thanks to the band for reading and considering my request---I'm extremely humbled and blown away! Now I am about 50 times more excited to see the L.A. gig-please consider keeping these songs in the set for the upcoming show. Thanks, Kings!!Jim
Raspberries4ever
Yeah! "Rock and Roll Mama". Bring on those "Dave" songs!! I love 'em!!
seattlesteve
Heard them both in Cleveland, they need to be in the set list. Hey if there is a certain time they have to quit, start earlier. Extra songs never stopped Springsteen.
mannoman
Maybe I am not reading these replies correctly but I have yet to hear either "I Can Hardly Believe You're Mine" or "All through The Night" at the 6 shows I have attended (the first 2 Cleveland shows, Chicago, 2 NYC and AC). To which "...both..." are you referring Steve?DWSG is soooo much better live than the recorded version, IMHO.Ted
Julie
I'm probably never going to make it to a Raspberry Show unless they play closer to Emmetsburg, Iowa!! (only 3 hours from Minneapolis and 4 from Omaha.....hint, hint)That being said though, I would most definately want to hear "Don't Wanna Say Goodbye" and CAASM.Gosh, I remember hearing "DWSG" on the radio when I was a kid. Course, I didn't know that it was the same group that did "GATW". (I didn't make those kind of connections back then)but I remember thinking it was an awesome song and I adore it know. So classic and timeless. Ahhhhh....--Julie in little ol' Emmetsburg
Julie
Here's a thought...... Little ol' Emmetsburg, population 4,000 and out in the middle of nowhere, is building a multi-million dollar casino/hotel/campground/lake and it is set to open in June of 2006. The 'Berries would make a big splash here for the Grand Opening........--Iowa, We'll Make You Smile!
