Speaking of high school reunions, my 40th is coming up July 15th! (Did I say 40th?????) Yep, that's right. Even though high school seems like a million years ago, it's hard to believe it's been 40 years since I walked the hallowed halls of Charled F. Brush High. Our class always has a huge turnout for these reunions, and I expect this one to will, too. The "Sounds Of Silence's" arch-rivals the "Cellmates." are supposed to perform ( yet another reunion) featuring my friend Tom Consolo on lead vocals. I find these reunions fascinating, although, I've got to admit, seeing all these people I still think of as 17 or 18 year-olds, who are now 57 or 58 could be a little bit weird. Our homecoming queen (who is now one of my son's physical education instructors at his school has asked to go with my wife and I. She's a terrific girl. It's really strange, the little twists and turns life throws at people. I think, as a writer, that's why I find these reunions so interesting. ec

This seems too obvious. It's rare that a world famous rock star still lives essentially in their home town, goes to their 40th reunion, knows tons of attendees, including members of the band that will be playing.

How much more appropriate and fun would it to have it worked out ahead where during a band break you have it worked out to take the piano solo and sing She Remembered, a song about a reunion, sung at your old high school!

Eric spoke of twists and turns, and interesting reunions, that would be something the you'd remember.

Good stuff Eric, good stuff everyone. I enjoy all the postings on this thread. I can't believe I'm going to my 30 year high school re-union later this month in Maryland. Seems like almost yesterday I graduated. Should be interesting.

Things change & turn-about is fair play. Even at

the 20 year event, people that looked better & younger than me in school, don't look that way anymore!! I'm the one looking younger now. Maybe I'm a distant cousin of Dick Clark??

Also, I can remember cheerleaders doing a routine to "Sunrise" during one basketball halftime in my senior year. My class had 'class' & good taste.

We shall all compare notes later after the

re-unions.

The whole reunion thing was so bizarre...surreal...? I don't know just plain old strange.

Our Blond, beautiful, snobby class president had become a hooker druggie ~ talk about looking hard.

Another beautiful perfect blond (the one I wanted to be), I don't think we had ever spoken a word to each other, told me how jealous of me she was during high school.

We have now become good friends and go to lunch often.

One of the most popular girls came with her lesbian lover~ the guys loved that! haha

A guy I have known since 1st grade grabbed me and would have planted one right on lips if I had not managed to turn my head.

Bizzaro world eek

I'll go to next reunion a lot more relaxed than before, just by coincidence, four people from my class live right in the neighborhood. We went to school about 25 miles from here. It somehow feels comforting to have present-day friends mixed in with old friends.

Speaking of high school reunions....here is a video from 1988...the 25th reunion of the El Cerrito H.S. (California) Class of 1963. It features John Fogerty and CCR bandmate drummer Doug Clifford playing 4 songs for the reunion. They were both class members. It is billed as the "Last Appearance of CCR". They play 4 songs here....Born on the Bayou, Bad Moon Rising, Baby What You Want Me to Do/Sweet Home Chicago and Good Golly Miss Molly. They were billed at the reunion as their high school band name "The Blue Velvets". This is a multigenerational tape so the video is not the best but very interesting!!! I am going in a couple of weeks to my 40th reunion and it just seems bizarre that that much time has passed by. Should be interesting. Good luck to all reunion attendees! Have fun.

I remember walking into my 20th reunion with my lovely wife, a successful law practice, a new Volvo and a perception that maybe, just maybe the "in crowd" would view me differently. Yea, right. The same old pecking order. I knew the evening was off to a rough start when a good ol' boy plumber's helper (nothing against plumbers) who had been on the football team snubbed me. My 25th, on the other hand, was great. No 30th this year. No one picked up the ball. It's sort of like when you get together with your family at Thanksgiving; the old group dynamic returns, even if you haven't interacted with these people in years. I still avoid a certain black chair in front of the family room television at my parent's house when my older brother is around. I would be less inclined to tell Mr. Plumber's Helper to kiss my a$$ than I otherwise would because I remember his status, although I wouldn't say that anyway. Maybe it's good the Cedar Shoals class of '77 is not having a 30th! smile

A bunch of us class of '77ers on this thread! Our (Bishop Watterson H.S., Columbus, OH) 30th is in July and I'm signed up to go. I went to the 25th and it was great...it's just that 3 hours isn't enough time to talk to everybody you should talk to.

I wasn't overly enthralled with my class during highschool, but most were at least ok, and I had a bunch of close friends and we had a blast. I've gotten to appreciate my class a lot more after having experienced the reality of the world and the type of people that are out there. Most all of my class were fundamentally decent people who gave a damn about those around them... athletes, brains, heads, religious "freaks" ,hot chicks, non-hot chicks, etc etc....most all of them were pretty cool.

I don't see my classmates much, but it's kind of a kick when I do. It's like re-uniting with a kindred spirit...someone who has common roots and ussually similar values. I love seeing how they've stood up to all that's out there and love hearing their views on what's going on in the world.

So, I'll have a good time...as long as one of the nuns who still owes me a paddling doesn't show up!!

I really like the idea of Run Away being the #1 song on this album. It is such a powerful, demanding song; it's bound to catch your attention. I have mentioned time and time again how much I love this song and that it never got it due, maybe if it was put as song #1, it would have. Eric, the feeling you put into the piano when you play this song gives me chills. All the instruments work but I also like the tambourine too. Man someone beat that thing like crazy! This song is a true masterpiece done by a Maestro. king

School Reunions are slightly different here in NZ. We don't have individual class Reunions. Here the Reunion is a celebration of when the school opened. For example the High School that I went to had it's 50th Reunion a couple of years ago. So anyone who has attended the school can go, this includes past staff as well. It starts on the Friday night with a "Mix and Mingle". On the Saturday morning there is usually a "School Assembly", and all the teachers sit on the stage,(just like the good old days)after that there are "Decade Photo's".

After lunch there are some light hearted sports challenges between past and present pupils.(Rugby and netball) In the evening there is a Dine and Dance. The weekend finishes on the Sunday with a church service and then lunch.

Muzza's Grade School have just celebrated their 133rd reunion....(NO Muzza was not a Foundation Pupil!!!!)

Sonny Geraci [Lead singer of Cleveland legends The Outsiders] and his band Climax played at my high school prom in 1976...I just attended my 30th this year. I think I appreciate going to these alot more now...about 30 people in our class have passed away. Now I happen to have graduated in the largest class ever in the state of Ohio [Mentor 76...over 1200!]Good thing there were name tags...very few look anything like they used to...I do...but man...I was walking up to people I was friends with and I did not know it was them!

Eric, I know about the "low self esteem" thing. I was the girl in the glasses who played the violin. Not exactly qualifications to compete with the cheerleaders. I had skipped a grade and so was a year younger than everyone else. That didn't help either.

I didn't go to my tenth reunion but decided to get glammed up and go to my 20th. As luck would have it, I had broken up with my boyfriend (the one who was jealous of Raspberries) just before.

It took a lot of courage to go "solo," but I found I had plenty of company--quite a few divorced women did the same thing.

Nobody recognized me (someone said I had "blossomed," whatever that means!), the guys voted me "Homecoming Queen" and I left the reunion with *two* guys I had a crush on in high school who hadn't known I'd existed to attend a round of parties. That night the only word I could think of was "Justice!"

Bernie, are you getting this all down? We need the 30th Anniversary re-release of Boats to be re-sequenced in the proper order. We also need you to fly out to Cleveland and find the best take of Temporary Hero, so you can remix it and put it in it's proper place:) smilesmile

And don't even try to say it hasn't crossed your mind!!!
