Raspbernie
I just received the exciting news that Great Britain's RECORD COLLECTOR magazine has name Eric Carmen: Marathon Man one of their "Best Books of the Year!" If there are any U.K. fans who can pick up a copy, I'd appreciate a scan of the mention. Until then, allow Ken and I to celebrate!!!BerniePS: Supplies of Eric Carmen: Marathon Man are getting very low. This GREAT HONOR (and added publicity) may cause the book may sell out soon. If you haven't purchased a copy I'd recommend that you DO IT TODAY!
raspberrywine
Raspbernie, way to go. It's a great read. Will Marathon Man eventually have another addition to include the Raspberies reunion in some manner?

Tony Cartmill
Oh great! Now we have to spell out the title, "Internationally Acclaimed Author" whenever we mention Bernie and/or Ken in our posts...Where's my arthritis medicine? Raspbernie
What are you saying Tony, that I *wasn't* an internationally acclaimed author before the kudos from RECORD COLLECTOR?Bernie :-)
JuliaAllByMyself
Congratulations, Bernie and Ken ! I bet you’re really chuffed !Let me know if you don’t get hold of a copy, and I’ll send one to you. I don’t know of a Tower Records here now, as the one in Piccadilly Circus is now a Virgin Megastore, but I’ll hunt down a copy whatever it takes. Tony Cartmill
I thought of you as more of a niche author, (Internationally Acclaimed Author) Bernie. You know, kind of like that guy who writes books on how to make quality homemade bombs...Can I just say IAA Bernie?
oldblue
Congratulations, Bernie & Ken! It should be no surprise that the book has attracted attention, considering that when I read it this past summer, I ripped through it in about 36 hours, pretty fast for a word-obsessive reader like myself. It's great that you're getting the professional recognition you deserve.
darlene
CONGRATULATIONS, BERNIE AND KEN for garnering a great international honor with ECMM!!!! I didn't doubt it would happen for a minute!Unlikely that any Brits will be able to find a copy of the magazine, though. JuliaAllByMyself will have bought them all!!!! (You'll have to contact HER!) (Maybe she'll share...)MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!! --Darlene

MikeC
What an honor, Bernie and Ken. They are really into music, in England. That will get more recognition for Eric's music. Maybe he and The Raspberries will make a trip over there one day.

Angloberry
And I see in the interview with Brian Wilson in the same issue that Ken Sharp managed to get in a mention of the Raspberries in one of his questions to Brian:"From Back in the USSR by The Beatles to The Raspberries to R.E.M to Beach Baby by First Class... (Wilson starts singing "Beach baby, beach baby"....), there have been so many artists that have recorded songs that mine your style and sound. Do you have any favourites?(Answer) "The Hondells did Little Honda. I loved it. I thought it was a great version. Beach baby, yeah, I like that. On The Beatles song, Back in the USSR, I thought the way that they went (sings "wooh"), the falsetto thing, I thought that approximated The Beach Boys' sound pretty good. I was quite honoured that they would do that."And what about "Cruisin Music" then Brian, huh?
Raspbernie
My long-standing joke with Ken is that I always tell him if he ever managed to get an interview with the Pope his first queston would be about the 'Berries!Bernie
kazumi
Congratulations, Bernie and Ken!Marathon Man is my best book of the year, too. ( and you know what's the 2nd, right? )Kazumi
Billy K.
This is cool! Ironically, I did read most of the Sam Cooke book at the airport bookstore when I was stuck at the Fresno airport enroute to the 'Berries concert......
