Marathon Man: Best Books of the Year!

I just received the exciting news that Great Britain's RECORD COLLECTOR magazine has name Eric Carmen: Marathon Man one of their "Best Books of the Year!" If there are any U.K. fans who can pick up a copy, I'd appreciate a scan of the mention. Until then, allow Ken and I to celebrate!!!

Bernie

PS: Supplies of Eric Carmen: Marathon Man are getting very low. This GREAT HONOR (and added publicity) may cause the book may sell out soon. If you haven't purchased a copy I'd recommend that you DO IT TODAY!

Congratulations, Bernie & Ken! It should be no surprise that the book has attracted attention, considering that when I read it this past summer, I ripped through it in about 36 hours, pretty fast for a word-obsessive reader like myself. It's great that you're getting the professional recognition you deserve.

CONGRATULATIONS, BERNIE AND KEN for garnering a great international honor with ECMM!!!! I didn't doubt it would happen for a minute!

Unlikely that any Brits will be able to find a copy of the magazine, though. JuliaAllByMyself will have bought them all!!!! (You'll have to contact HER!) wink (Maybe she'll share...)

MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!! happy

And I see in the interview with Brian Wilson in the same issue that Ken Sharp managed to get in a mention of the Raspberries in one of his questions to Brian:

"From Back in the USSR by The Beatles to The Raspberries to R.E.M to Beach Baby by First Class... (Wilson starts singing "Beach baby, beach baby"....), there have been so many artists that have recorded songs that mine your style and sound. Do you have any favourites?

(Answer) "The Hondells did Little Honda. I loved it. I thought it was a great version. Beach baby, yeah, I like that. On The Beatles song, Back in the USSR, I thought the way that they went (sings "wooh"), the falsetto thing, I thought that approximated The Beach Boys' sound pretty good. I was quite honoured that they would do that."

And what about "Cruisin Music" then Brian, huh?
