Bahoo leaves the Board for good

Recommended Posts

Well, I have thought about it, and I will join many others in staying off this board.

I don't want to split hairs here, but I count TWO people who have "left the board" and they're both crabby Canadians! :-) Come to think of it -- dramatic pronouncements that you are "leaving the board" is rather childlike, isn't it? Post or don't post. Some people post once every hour. Others post once every year. Some register and never post. Post or don't post.

On that note, let me echo the immortal Groucho Marx, when he sang:

"Hello, I must be going.

I cannot stay, I came to say I must be going.

I'm glad I came, but just the same I must be going.

I'll stay a week or two.

I'll stay the summer through.

But I am telling you that I must be going.

I'll do anything you say.

In fact, I'll even stay!

But I must be going."

Bernie, That's priceless! How a propos! haha

In fact, I have to save that one! That's the funniest I've heard from him since he sang "Lydia, The Tattooed Lady" in A Day at the Circus, or said to his dancing partner, "If I hold you any tighter, I'll be in back of ya!"

Darlene, I agree with Mamacote here. You treat everyone fairly and are the "good witch" of the board. I admire your love for the band (they said a reunion would never happen, it did, and we aren't going to let it end, are we?).

And Bernie, Groucho rocks!

Sometimes, though, I think of Raspberries in Three Stooges moments:

"Hey Eric, that's my intro..."

"Oh, wise guy!"

...I've got to admit, it's pretty hard to just sit back and say nothing while someone you've never met puts his particularly negative spin on something you know to be untrue. One of the reasons I decided to post here was to help clear up misconceptions about the band and myself. I honestly don't know why certain people always see the negative side of things (well, yes I do, not enough seratonin and dopamine production) but we all know people who are like that.

and that's the amazing thing about this site and this message board!! I think it's a VERY beneficial thing for those of us who want the TRUE inside story... it is difficult for people to gauge and/or balance truth from fiction and to understand when someone is being sincere and does not have an agenda besides trying to give people some truth... It's very easy to acquiesce on an artist's board and be a sycophant... but this board is very open and liberal (sorry, Tony) with its boundaries (bar some off-kilter ravings & verbal savagery that mess w/ everyone's feelings) and has shown amazing tolerance, all things considered.

I think it's been clear from the onset (and with the numerous "ec" posts) where Eric stands and what his motives are... and for us who have met him, it's an easy endorsement... the cool thing about such a relationship, is that now if there's a bone of contention and/or issue that needs to be addressed, it can be brought up with the artist, if done with discretion and sincerity...

by the way has ec replied to Tony's question about that "Devil..." song??? smile

I don't get to post here as often as I once did (being that I was out of work at the time.)I really do enjoy coming here when I can, and posting my small miniscule contributions. I was thrilled when Eric started posting here (and still am!)When I do come here now, I'm afraid that there'll be some announcement that Eric has decided not to post any longer because someone has run him off due to negative and nasty comments, like what I heard happened on the old board.

My feeling is, I don't remember Bahoo posting anything negative about Eric before, so why did he start now after Eric started posting?

Oh well, Eric, keep on posting! You still have you're admirers and supporters here...

i dont think eric will stop posting..i know if it was my website,i definently would not!!!!!..from what i understand about message boards in general, there will be alot of controversy, hurt feelings, lots of love, harsh happenings, false things,etc.. this really is nothing new as far as that goes..however...most artists are very sensitive in general and can be affected oh so much by negativity..especially by certain fans or sayings, whatever u want to call it...i think this is something to learn from..thanks..lol,chris

Well, I gotta jump in and put my 2 cents in too. I considered "leaving" once, but only because I was being hunted/stalked by that bozo "BeatleBum", and it was getting tiring. Life is way too short to put up with that nonsense, and I wasn't about to go & find him just to render him unconcious & then be arrested. At any rate, the one & only reason I'm here is because of my love of Eric's & The Berrie's music. Not to sound dramatic, but it is indeed the sound track to a major part of my life. To have stumbled across this site and the .net site years ago was a dream come true. As many of you have stated before, I was always thinking "I wonder if anybody else likes these guys as much as I do?" I expect nothing, demand nothing. If questions I'm curious about get answered, cool. If not, it doesn't matter. As always, I was a fan before they "made" it and I'll be a fan of all four of them til I breath no more. So Babooey, you may have "left", but I'm betting ec.com will still be here tomorrow for those of us who still really care about the one really important thing that matters about this site, the music. happy

I've lived long enough to know that the expressions, "for good," "for the rest of my life," or "forever" are pretty meaningless. Nothing in life is irrevocable. Raspberries broke up "for good" thirty-two years ago, and even *that* wasn't irrevocable!

Everything changes with time: events, relationships and the status quo always morph into something else--thank goodness!

Or, as Peter Noone and Herman's Hermits put it, "This Door Swings Both Ways." I've learned to never say, "Never."

Sounds to me like Bahoo wouldn't last a second at some fan boards. The EC board is a cakewalk compared to the Todd Rundgren Connection Forums. And that particular forum is full of people that like to second guess the man that they claim to be fans of. If one can't handle the generally good-natured opinions bandied about here, then perhaps they should spend their time doing something less stressful like counting hairs on bald people.

Generally a flamboyant announcement means "pay attention to me" and that the person claiming to leave is going nowhere but to lurk until they're provoked into resurfacing.

To second what Brioohs says above, this is definitely one of the more benign music-related boards I've seen. Most arguments just turn silly on this board, rather than nasty or personally insulting.

On a more serious note...Chris Hess above talks about old comedy being the best, and how he's a huge Stooges fan.....me too - Iggy's always been pretty funny, but those Asheton brothers are an absolute scream!!!

I'm not sure who exactly was being called a moron up above....(I thought it was me, so I agreed)....my guess is it was either (1) an attempt to sink this board down into the morass occupied by other music boards where the response "what a moron" is not only quite commonplace, but expected...., or (2) he was just being a smartass like the rest of us.....

It's these "drama queen" pronouncements I always find interesting. If you want to post, do so, if not-then don't. But all these " Elvis or Marvin has the left the building" announcements seem self absorbed, juvenile, and unecessary. It is odd, under any criteria, to be on an artist's fan site posting continually negative and caustic remarks towards the artist that can lead to bad feelings and misunderstandings. ...

R-Wine, I agree with you totally, and with a lot of other comments here. To practically call a press conference to announce your "retirement" from a bulletin board, well, I just don't get it. Maybe it's a cry for attention ("You'll have to beg me to come back... and I hope you do!"). But life goes on. And it doesn't change the bottom line:

This is a great, great site -- my favorite place to "play" on and off during the work day. I'm appreciative of Bernie's and Kathy's work (and expense!) in putting it up, and for the moderators, and to Eric for being active. In just a few months, Eric, you've posted hundreds of details that answered all kinds of questions I've had about your work, career, philosophies, even cars and dogs. Great stuff. And if it's true that Bahoo or anyone left the board because they're disappointed, well, too bad. Life's too short to get caught up in hissy-fits.

Some of you have mentioned you've met Eric; me, too, and he is as advertised: level-headed, intelligent, down to earth, funny, and an overall nice fella. Can't think of a better musical idol to have....

Yeah, this thread about one persons decision to post or not, is a little self absorbed, and asking for pity -- which worked. Even another friend of the board, just stopped posting, no fanfare. And hell, I am a pretty showy guy, and I even wouldn't make this fanfare.

On the other hand, that being said, I have made my big final decision:

I want to let everyone know, after much thought, I have decided to post this reply on this board, at this moment. Now, I have finally come to the crossroads, and decided to hit the "add reply" butt.... laugh

I now want everyone to know I havecome to the decision to post another reply wink

Bahoo, c'mon, dude. Is this how you deal with disappoinment, you bail? Get some cajones, and try to change things to suit you better!

Gosh, thankfully, I was born and bred a New Yorker. You disappoint me? Then, you gotta deal with me <img border="0" alt="[Rant]" title="" src="graemlins/rant.gif" />

Dissappointed in Eric? Then stand up, dude, dont' bail. Don't be afraid! Say what you feel! You'll get more respect, then the whiny proclamation of "bailure"

Here, I'll defend you -- Eric, you're a poopey head! There -- now, Bahoo, start posting again!!

(This message brought to you by the AATTCMA -- American Association to teach Canadians more aggression wink )

Chris, I'm sure the "moron" comment wasn't directed at you. Nobody is going to call you a moron for talking about what kind of comedy you admire. I think it was a general commentary on the thread of someone leaving the board. Or it may have been an answer to whoever answered you.

I love your enthusiasm for EC/Razz music!
