bahoodore
Well, I have thought about it, and I will join many others in staying off this board. Eric has made me think, and he is right.I am enamoured by the artistry, and not necessarily the artist...and being on this board is not fair to those who cherish the man as much as they cherish the music. I come off as being a critical SOB, and this is not the forum for it.I have noticed that many other folks have left the board, for perhaps the very same reasons, and I guess it is best for all involved. It's been a fun ride, and I will continue to listen to the artist, and remain with the emotions the music gives me...all good and inspirational. As for ERIC, the man...unfair for me to tag him as anything but a person I really don't know...perhaps if I got to know him, I would have a better reaction.Had some great times here...I especially appreciate Bernie's perfectionism (my word), Cartman's jumbled brain, Darlene's swooning, Marvin's astute music historianism and many others who made my days more entertaining. And Eric...thanks for the musicBahoo
TOMMY TUNES
Bahoodore,I do not support your decision. You will be missed as are the others who have left or posting less often for similar reasons. Someone once said something to the sort "You should never meet your idols because they are never as wonderful as you think they are. You will almost always be disappointed." It's true. How could they ever live up to the high pedestal we have put them on? Heck, you and I don't even live up to the high pedestal we put ourselves on. How could we expect our idols to? DeanTylerVO
Smart, mature move, not ruining OUR fun, and the fact we love the MAN and..his music. Is he perfect, I doubt it, but neither am I, and for the record, I have met Eric a few times over the past 25 years, and he has been nothing but warm, articulate, fun and engaging to be around. But that's just one man's opinion. We wish you all the best, we truly do, for life is too short to feel otherwise.Dean
Tony Cartmill
Geeeeeez, The board is going to be so boring if everyone with dissenting opinions just bails, because they get some ribbing from the lemmings.Come on Andy, Don't be such a Marvin! Is this a Freakin' Canadian Kabal thing?
Bob Allen
Uh - what's the big deal? So someone stays, someone goes. That's life ain't it? I don't get the big pronouncement (but then again, that's just me).

raspberrywine
It's these "drama queen" pronouncements I always find interesting. If you want to post do so, if not-then dont. But all these " Elvis or Marvin has the left the building" announcements seem self absorbed, juvenile, and unecessary. It is odd, under any criteria, to be on an artist's fan site posting continually negative and caustic remarks towards the artist that can lead to bad feelings and misunderstandings. A few people do this regularly. Go to Osama Bin Laden.com if you feel a need to vent vitriol and personal affronts towards someone. I agree with Cartmill, the art or the product of the artist is totally and completely fair game, but some people have been unfairly negative on a very personal level. In my opinion, it stinks. Tony Cartmill
Before Eric started his awesome detailed posts, I thought he was a bit of a paranoid private shut-in, with no time to respond to his hardcore fans. Boy, was I wrong. I like the dude even more now, but I love his music the same as always.Still, sometimes it's tempting to speculate on what makes our guy tick, on a personal level. It's the little bit of Gossip Magazine reporter in all of us...
darlene
Bahoo, I'm sorry you plan on leaving, although people who have "left" still read here. If you've enjoyed your time on board, you've certainly made mine fun. I still smile at the "Bahooey" thing. You, and everyone who has posted here, made a mark and helped the board to grow, contributed to the spirit and camaraderie and helped realize the "dream" of Raspberries: a reunion, concert tour, two new books, a cd and dvd in the works, and Eric and Jim posting and even going into the chat room. Now, Eric posts and answers questions personally! I cannot imagine what more anyone could expect of an artist.I don't know how "many" people have left because they are not presently gratified, but to put blame on any of the artists is absolutely ridiculous.I signed on here because I was tickled to find other EC and Razz devotees. *My* motive? To bring the music back. I met and "cybermet" many fine people with whom I've shared a lot of laughs and warm exchanges, enduring friends whom I'll always cherish, like you, Raspberries and their families.I would like to think the music is paramount for everyone here, but people have varying motives and expectations. Any given group has different factions and "power struggles" that emerge. Everyone here is wonderful in his/her own way, but some have an overriding need to feel important, some are volatile and we've seen some bizarre things here. How Bernie and Kathy (and Ted!) have managed to keep it all together, I haven't the ghost of an idea.People come and go for different reasons. It's sad that some are disappointed because Eric is a human being. ("Perfection is consuming, and it seems we're only human after all...") In the 34 or so years of going to every possible gig, talking to them and observing them "forever," I've seen that all four guys are warm and wonderful, as well as astronomically talented human beings who are classier, by far, than most of us. (Without "swooning"! ), I'll say that Eric is one of the most engaging, fan-oriented guys I've ever met.Of course it all depends on one's motives: What do you want? Free backstage passes and meet and greets to shows and sound checks? Free tickets? Lunch with the celebrities? A personal relationship? A #1 album on Billboard this week?Geez, if so, then *every* artist will disappoint you. Good luck trying to find the next "great thing."The band isn't negative. Fans who take sides are. Band business, after all, is just that: *Band* business. Period. They'll work it out because they all have class, they know what magic they have together and, from what I've *always* seen, they WANT to. They don't need ANY interlopers.I wish everyone here well, whether they leave or stay. I love all of you. As for me, I'm staying! Whatever happens with EC and Razz music, I want to be here when it does...This is a magic place and not all *my* EC/Razz dreams have come true yet. --Love, Darlene
Eric Carmen
I never meant to run anyone off the message board, but I've got to admit, it's pretty hard to just sit back and say nothing while someone you've never met puts his particularly negative spin on something you know to be untrue. One of the reasons I decided to post here was to help clear up misconceptions about the band and myself. I honestly don't know why certain people always see the negative side of things (well, yes I do, not enough seratonin and dopamine production) but we all know people who are like that. I'm sorry that Bahoo doesn't like me, but, since I've never met him, there's not much I can do about it. In any case, thanks to all of you for your support. I'm not perfect (Lord knows) but I'm really not a bad guy either. ec

ira
Eric-It is unprecedented-I'm sure-the way you share your thoughts and feelings with your fans.Eric-I guess I was right after all.Despite your protestations...You ARE the "Babe Ruth" of Rock and Roll-always there for the fans- and NOT a mere "Jimmy Piersall" as you self-effacingly stated in an earlier post.I guess to loosely quote Simon and Garfunkle:"You've been slandered, libeled,You've heard words you never read in the Bible,Still you got (?) to keep the customer satisfied...satisfied".AND -Some customers are NEVER satisfied.Thanks-from Ira-a satisfied customer.
