Paulie Mississippi
I'm pretty new here... not as new as my name because I registered here a while back but can't remember which email address and name I used... memory ain't as good as it once was I guess... but here's a bit of personal history that might show how rabid I am for music by Eric and the Raspberries!I was 15 in '74 when Starting Over came out. My dad was doing some Christmas shopping with me later that year and he asked me what album I wanted for Christmas. I pointed out Starting Over (on a huge display alongside Side 3 in a Zayre's store in the Daytona Mall!) He bought it for me that night.I was desperate to hear this album and now couldn't buy it for myself. I couldn't open it but snuck many peeks at it and in fact had the back cover memorized! I had heard Overnight Sensaion on the radio and had bought the .45 so I had also heard Hands on You. But all the new songs that I had to wait until Christmas morning to hear... arghhh...Then it struck me. My aunt, who is only a year older than I, liked the Raspberries too. And we went to my grandparents to exchange family gifts on Christmas EVE! So... my gift to her was the 8-track of Starting Over. And after she opened it, I got her to stick it into the stereo in the corner of the room where I listened to it with her a full TWELVE HOURS before I would have otherwise gotten to hear it!And no, it didn't stop me from tearing the album open on Christmas day and cranking my pathetic little stereo as loud as it could play... Bill C
Great story! I remember buying both the first and second Raspberries albums for myself in 1977. I bought them from a used record store. They were both German imports. I was able to find Side 3 and Starting Over still on the rack and sealed. I also had an 8-track of Side 3. It took me awhile to go out and buy my own copies, you see my brother had the albums and I could just use his, until he moved out. I remember having the Raspberries Greatest hits first though. ira
Great story Paulie!I can still remember way back in December 2004 when I was only 12 (Just Kidding!) how excited I was to get my e-mail with my printable tickets to Raspberries at HOB in Chicago for Jan. 15,2005. How does that song go? "Oh what A Night, Late December back in 004......."Welcome Paulie!-Ira.

Paulie Mississippi
I'm afraid not, my best hope was LA since I live in ID now, but had to be in FL to tend to my ailing father... story of my life...I was able to catch Eric with the All-Stars in Ft. Lauderdale a few years back though. Actually got to review the concert for Bernie back then!
darlene
I remember rushing home from the record store to put my first Razz album on the turntable after buying it! After that, it played constantly, as did all the others. It's a good thing the man in the apartment downstairs loved Raspberries too! --Darlene
Paulie Mississippi
Another thing about the Starting Over album. I was freaked out when I heard the strains of GATW in the fade out of Overnight Sensation. So much so that I rushed out asap and bought the first LP. I had never gotten it and was convinced they had discovered a way to record over vinyl! I was afraid I'd never find one again!
darlene
Ahhh...Luckily, that didn't happen! Great story! And your grandma had VERY discriminating musical taste! So THAT'S where you got it from! --Darlene
beachberry
I had to but three copies of the first album because I wore out the first two copies in a matter of months. I am on the second copy of FRESH.
