Randy
Which songs did Wally sing lead on , for Fotomaker?
BadfingerBarb
"Come Back" and "Name of the Game" from their second album, "Vis-a-Vis"
Zuke
Are you sure that's all? I always liked "PAIN" AND "WHERE HAVE YO BEEN ALL MY LIFE." "IN YOUR EYES" TOO
marvin
According to Wally, most of the first album was already recorded by the time he joined the band. His contributions to that album were mainly background vocals and guitar parts.Marvin
Zuke
I DID like that first album. I never did any research on it. I always thougth he had more to do with it. Oh, well.
Randy
i thought he was lead on Snowblind too?
marvin
Haven't listened to the album in quite a while, but I'll take your word for it Randy. Maybe "Snowblind" was recorded during the latter part of the sessions.Marvin
darlene
When I think of Fotomaker, I instinctively think of "Where Have You Been All My Life?" I adored the first album and love that song. --D
sthom3521
I think "Snowblind" was Vinci on lead."Where have You Been All My Life..." was written by someone named Cawley (not in the band), I believe. Cool twangy guitar on that one
hosskratz
Snowblind was written and sung by Lex Marchisi. It was a song he wrote to play some guitar leads. Wally had another song on "vis a vis" called Sweet Lies. I like fotomaker also, as I thought that they were a cool alternative to what was out at the time. mamacote
......"where have you been all my life" was written by jim cawley, a former promo guy at arista records.....i believe he's still in the business in some capacity......if you like that song, check out "just for you" from vis-a-vis, it's a chip off the same pop block!!!!! Randy
Sounds like everyone sang lead on Snowblind, except me. That might be a good one to pass on to Mrs. Bryson. I liked all of the Fotomaker albums, even after Wally left the band. If you don't have them, pick them up!
blackhawkpat
Fotomaker was awesome! That first album, especially, was one I used to play for alot of friends and every single one liked at least a couple of songs on it. The most amazing thing was that everyone seemed to like different songs on it. It had so much diversity. I even did "Where Have You Been All My Life?" in a band I was in at the time because of my allegiance to Wally. Not too many bar bands doing that number, I suppose?I loved the first two albums with Wally and hated the third without him.
Raspbernie
Hey blackhawkpat,The band Kathy and I were in also did a cover of "Where Have You Been All My Life." I always got a kick out of picking out that catchy solo I saw Wally play at that club in North Jersey!Bernie
sthom3521
Yes...Lex Marchesi on Snowblind. THANKS! Where is he now??I liked Lex's "Two Can Make It Work" and Wally's soulful lead guitar on that one. "Two Way Street" is really nice, also. "Just For You" had a cool ending guitar line. hbecstacy
"Come Back" from Vis-a-Vis would've made a great Raspberries tune, IMHO...Hmmm...maybe that would be a good tune to redo on a new studio CD?--Howard
mamacote
.......i recall wally saying he wrote "come back" while still in the 'berries........i agree it would have been a great raspberries tune and might have fit nicely on say, "starting over".... BadfingerBarb
"Come Back" is the greatest power pop tune that nobody knows! It deserves greater exposure. It has always been a favourite, particularly the guitar solo!
marvin
Barb I'll agree with you about "Come Back", but the greatest pop tune that nobody knows is "Lovin' You Ain't So Easy" by Montreal's own Michel Pagliaro.Marvin
Matthew C. Clark
Marvin: The song "Lovin' You Ain't Easy" by Michel Pagliaro also reminds me of "You Keep Runnin' Away" by .38 Special (from "Special Forces") from 1982. Wish that Michel should have done the remake back then. I am still waiting for a Spanish or Latin performer to do the remake of "Some Sing, Some Dance". BadfingerBarb
Sorry Marvin, I don't know that one. D'oh!
marvin
Barb don't worry about not knowing about Michel (in the 1970's he was a Pop God in Canada) - hardly anyone outside of Canada would. I believe that there are a few on this board who do know Michel and the song. Bob, Tommy and Pat? Hey Jennifer, what do you think about "Lovin' You Ain't...?Marvin
aggiesjc
Marvin, I love that song, along with everything else you chose to include on that tape.
marvin
You heard it from Jennifer herself: She loves the song. "Lovin' You Ain't So Easy" is pristine Pop.Marvin
marvin
I had mentioned Michel Pagliaro earlier, check my thread in the "Community" section.Marvin
