Tony Cartmill
Ok I've worked it out. "She Remembered" and the vocal arrangement goes like this:Eric: Went back to my class reunion, I was wondering how my friends had changed. And looking for a certain girl I was hoping to find there.Babs: Walked in and he caught my eye. Though I was standing with another guy, all the years seemed to fade away. Could it be he still remembered..."Chorus - Eric: She Remembered,Babs joins in harmony a 3rd above: It was so long ago, could we ever feel that way again? She remembered, makin' love 'neath the stars, Oh the world was so much younger then.Eric: When we kissed and my heart stood still, I said I loved her and I always will.Babs: 'cause dreams are forever and some things, you never forget.Babs: I introduced him to the guy I was with, and he asked me if I'd like to dance. We hit the floor as the band began our favorite old slow song.Eric: I pulled her close and to my surprise, I heard her whisper as she closed her eyes.Babs: God, it's just like it used to be. I wasn't sure if you'd remember...Both, with Babs a 3rd above harmony: I'd remember, it was so long ago could we ever feel that way again. I'd remember, makin' love 'neath the stars, oh the world was so much younger then.Eric or Babs (they could switch): When we kissed and my heart stood still, I said I loved her and I always will. The other one: 'cause dreams are forever blah blah blah...Bridge - Eric: Oh darlin' let's not try to understand it.Babs: Lets be fools for one moment in time.Eric: After all it's not as if we planned it.Babs with Eric harmony?: So hold me close and remember when you used to be mineEric: Do you remember when...She Remembered...Same Babs harmony arrangement as other choruses...Both Eric and Babs sing the last line in unison. It would be a great duet...IF...they could find the right key to sing it that would compliment both powerful voices... LC
Tony, I started out laughing to myself at this post (after all, it is a Cartmill), but as I read through it, you know what? It's good. Very good --- very, very good. Great song, and ripe for a duet with such an estimable voice (even though I'm not a Streisand fan).Of course, you haven't heard the last of my "Foolin' Myself" proposal.... :-)

danmichel
It's the hit version of a classic Eric Carmen song that the whole world is talking about...BARBRA STREISAND & ERIC CARMENBoats Against The Current(BS)I know it's overYou know it's overWe're just goin' through the motionsBut we're sailin' separate oceans world's apartAnd you know it's breakin' my heart(ECI was a dreamerYou were a dreamerBut perfection is consumingAnd it seems we're only human after allAnd we've both been takin' the fall(BS & EC)But tomorrowWe'll run a little bit fasterTomorrowWe're gonna find what we're after at lastFeelings that we left in the pastThere's romance in the sunsetWe're boats against the current to the end(BS)Maybe we're olderMaybe we're colderSo we disregard solutionsWhile we cling to our illusions once againAnd we keep rememberin' when(EC)Seasons are changin'Reasons are changin'But the story isn't endingSo we find ourselves pretending one more dayWhile the years keep slippin' away(BS & EC)But tomorrowWe'll run a little bit fasterTomorrowWe're gonna find what we're after at lastFeelings that we left in the pastThere's romance in the sunsetWe're boats against the current to the end
dianed
Not a bad idea....Duets are sooo "emotional". I am liking this !!

Tony Cartmill
All 3 of those songs would blow away "You Don't Bring Me Flowers". And that was a mega-hit.Dan, I would reverse the singers on the verses of "Boats...". I think Barbara would do better with the 2nd half lines. danmichel
I was thinking "diva's first" there...But you may be right Tony...When we get Eric and Barbra in the studio we can try it both ways.I just imagined it again in my head...And your way works better Tony...Way better...I can imagine Barbra's fans goin' nuts when she appears to sing her first lines. AnneG
I'm not so sure this Babs/Eric combination would work. I think Barbara Dickson is a better "Babs" fit.Anne
danmichel
The idea of Eric and Barbra doing a duet sounds natural to me...But then...Believe it or not...I had a dream a couple of weeks back where Barbra Streisand was going to sing a duet with me...So the vibrations coming with the Eric/Barbra duet feel pretty good to me. Art
The thought of Blabs singing a duet with anyone I admire is enough to bring out the vomit bag. Sorry folks...but I despise that woman. You may not and I respect that (but can't understand it!!).
Foolin' Myself
I'm with LC on this one. I'm also with Tony with "You don't bring me flowers". I do have to admit that Babs and Barry Gibb on "What kind of fool" and "Woman in love" are two great duets though.
AnniekNY
Hi ya Art!!!!I am the karaoke idiot that gets up and does "evergreen" and "You don't bring me flowers" duet with the karaoke DJ. Politics are a WHOLE nother ball game....politics and her perfectionism!!!I am, however, really impressed with the vocal arrangements ...I can really see them executed.Especially Boats.Well done, gentlemen. LC
Thank you... because there are certain EC classics that would be totally wrong for her highness. For example, close your eyes and imagine this in your head:EC: Well I know it sounds funny/But I'm not in it for the money, no/ I don't need no reputation/And I'm not in it for the show...BS: I just want a hit record/Wanna hear it on the radio/Want a big hit record/One that everybody's got to know...EC: If the program director don't pull it/Then it's bound to get back the bulletBS: So bring the group down to the station/You're gonna be an overnight sensationSee what I mean? Of course, I may be wrong, but I don't think there are too many singers other than EC himself who could handle that one.... I'd love to hear Springsteen do it, but otherwise... there's only one voice for that song.
danmichel
All this Barbra Streisand talk has got me imagining her doing a slowed down, show stopping, solo version of "Let's Pretend"...But that's a whole 'nother thread....Hmmmmmmm...
When I'm Cool
She can only dream of the opportunity to record with our Eric Carmen.
AnniekNY
"Overnight sensation" duet with Eric Carmen and Barbara Streisand (notice the correct order of artists???) what a panic....the perfect example of what doesn't work.
chris hess
this whole thing is makin me sick...forget babs...she's dead grottie!!! a drag..a well known drag..oh,she can sing..but she knows it all too well..thus the power "thing"..maybe she should be a polotician!!lol, chris
AnneG
The only workable duet with Eric and Streisand is his hair vs her hair...
Art
Dreams are for never and some Blabs you'd like to forget.
Art
On a more serious note, a Carmen/Streisand duet would without a doubt sound really great, but I'd take an Eric solo anyday! Especially a new song introduced, say maybe...at Severence Hall.
danmichel
Eric would get the kind of press and attention that money can't buy if he did a duet with Barbra...I think the contrasts between their voices would work really well on record...Love Babs or hate her...She's still got the mega star stuff...And wherever she takes her show...It's gonna be a full house. Robin23
I agree with Art.....I have tossed all my bab music in the trash. Eric doesn't need her. His voice can stand on it's own.
