A NEW Eric Carmen Song!

Recommended Posts

Bernie,

actually, i do know about all the work Tommy went thru to make the song come to life... I was suggesting that someone close to Eric try to steer him into the best direction possible for future recordings...

I think he is too far gifted a human to let his talent rest... it's not that he has to do something big or monumental, but i think if he realizes there's people out there who are really up to the task of helping him acheive something great (just like the Wondermints with Brian Wilson) he could really do something substantial and special... and it could resonate with his best stuff...

a lot of this depends on his inspiration and the hunger and drive to do something creative... i can't imagine someone so naturally gifted not wanting to at least try to do something and see how it turns out... he just needs the right people to work with... ergo Jon Brion (& Tommy Allen)...

Oh Bernie, you and Ken really have to work very hard letting him know how beautiful his songs are and they shouldn't be locked away somewhere. The world needs to hear them. He has such a wonderful voice and is a truly gifted composer. Don't let him put his new music room to waste!!..... That is Bernie, in between signing all those books. June happy

Me, Marvin and Darlene singing harmonies to an Eric Carmen song for Bernie...One of those wonderful dreams I could only have with an overdose of the good medication... happy

I can nail any harmony as long as it's not too high. My ear is trained, and I'm ready to go.

But Bahoo could probably do it better, being a B-Quartet trained and all.

I've always considered myself to be extremely adept at picking out harmonies that no one else could hear, so I'm game!

Tony let me tell you that at one time Andy had easily the highest voice of any male I knew. In one of the many bands we used to be in (15-20 years ago), we all took turns singing lead, but Andy sang lead on songs like "Ballroom Blitz", "You Shook Me All Night Long", and "I Wanna Be With You." Sing those in your head and you'll get the idea what I mean when I say that he could hit notes that you and I only dreamed about.

Nowadays Andy's voice is much more controlled and

mature, but I heard him a couple of months ago, and he can still reach some notes that are way up there.

I'm 48 and I can sing those on a hangover Marvin. I'll bet I could teach you how to improve your range too.

Bushman,

Well, I'd love to be able to get another four or five notes higher. When do we start? Your place or mine? I won't fly .. can I drive across the ocean? How much this gonna cost? Will I be able to shatter glass? laugh

First and foremost thanks to Bernie and his friends for making this happen--I would give anything to make to the weekend at Bernies to get a "Bernie autograph ( could you do that to my book before you send it?)--Secondly thanks to those of you who came to my rescue so I could actually hear the song without all those buffering pauses, this is a tight group.==Thirdly the song is kewl---I won't say its my favorite EC song, but it the best I've heard lately wink ---I read a bit back where someone was suggesting different things to make the song better (at least in his eyes) and I didn't think he was Bernie Bashing (otherwise I would load up the dawgs and hunt him down), I think he was just giving his opinion--kinda like the reason we have chocolate ice cream (some folks don't like vanilla). I'm sure there are some on this sight that have been coming here longer than I have, but not many. I have seen Bernie do some incredible stuff for us, but none better than this!--Lest I forget, thanks to old man EC, cos' he could have easily axed the thing before it ever got started.---Boy this was a long one---

PS---hey Marv, why didn't you ask me to sing? I got my own web site and everything! I think it needs harmonies too!!!!

Wow. Been away for a week and just catching up on this board.

Wow.

Love his voice with real guitars and drums in addition to piano. Wish that was found before and played at the HOF show.

NSD needs to get released. Seems like there may be enough connections on this board to pull in favors and get the right people interested.

Wow.

My only other comment is why do so many people think Eric is laying around the house, retired, changing diapers, doing the early 80's Lennon thing. We all talk about doing the same treatment to his other unreleased as Bernie/Tommy did to NSD, but I wouldn't be too quick to assume that his notebook is empty. My bet is that he has a bunch of new songs, and has been adding to them. Writing and playing is the fun stuff, the grind is the record companies, the politics, legal, etc.

Love to see him come back though like Lennon's song Starting Over did. (Another great title for a comeback).

Rather than lay tracks over the other old demos, I'd say just go record them again. It doesn't take that much extra time to rerecord vocals and piano.

Having said that, my biggest fear is that they may be "given" to other artists who are already on the radio, potentially selling more copies and ironically bringing in more money, with less hassle, as opposed to a new EC CD.

Perfect song to jump start a career.

If there is going to be a CD right away, then the other way to go is that Never Say Die is a perfect theme song for about a million movies. McCartney made a little coin on "Live and Let Die" without putting it on a regular album.

Eric think about it. The timing of this window of opportunity may never be better with the song, song lyrics, song story, book, etc. and btw, when was the last time you saw a bulletin board from a triple threat from the 70's have so many current posts?

Wow.

The intrest is there ... lets Go All the Way.

I frequently visit the BMI site to check on whether there are any new song writing credits attributed to Eric. A new one titled "Planet Of The Apes" showed up recently. I thought this was peculiar and don't know if this was something that was recently penned or not.

Hey, are you bad boys jumping right to the MESSAGE BOARD every day instead of checking out the latest NEWS at the main splash page?!? I covered "Planet of the Apes" a few months ago when Eric called me with the news. It's a pretty good story, that's for sure. But if you missed it, the entire tale is told inÖyou guessed itÖ

ERIC CARMEN: MARATHON MAN. Now AVAILABLE smile
