A NEW Eric Carmen Song!

Recommended Posts

Bernie, this is a great board and you are the best moderator/creator I have seen. I am sitting here thinking how much I (and others) truly appreciate what you have done for EC fans and I musn't assume you know that. So I am telling you. The latest song is above and beyond. Enjoy it for what it is folks, it's a labor of love and it's very well done.

Anything can be picked apart (should have done this here, should have done that there). That's not what this is all about.

I think it's time we put aside the 'nits' and move on.

Ted

Wow..great job Bernie -- I really like this song -- imagine if this followed up Make Me Lose Control .... great to hear some new music even if it is from the Eric archives. Would still like to see him release some of those archived songs!! Thanks again Bernie...what a month ...a new book and new music.

I spent all last night listening to "Never say die", "Devil and the DBS", "It should have been me" and "Cindy in the Wind". I had a GREAT evening, and I don't know why to heck these songs aren't released and out there for the world to enjoy. I can easily see them being what's needed for the great 'comeback' of Eric Carmen. These songs are all amazing. The more I listen, the more I LOVE them. You can't get them out of your head. That's just not the EC fan in me talking - these really are great great songs. I think Eric should be greatly indebted to Bernie for 'touching up' Eric's song. Can you say 'royalty cheques' Bernie? wink

My cat and I loved NSD at the first listen. Great stuff! I LOVED the guitars Bernie! Too fun! Like Andy I believe said, I'd rather hear those guitars doing that almost verbal harmony than anything else.

This song has a lot of power to it. I like the beginning. I like a song that reels you in slowly and then, BAM, delivers the big punch! If you want to get someone's attention, just whisper.

The "heartbeat" of the drums from the beginning are awesome! I think my heart got right into that rhythm right away! Now, I'm not a music major or anything, but when those guitars come in and they're in what sounds like a minor cord progression---that is just sooooo cool! Such a great unexpected sound that totally works!

And ya, I also think it was Andy who mentioned the David Cassidy sound quality to Eric's voice in the soft spots. I agree. Very nice, indeed!

I am so greatful to you, Bernie and Company for this fabulous treat! This has "hit" all over it! I could certainly imagine hearing this on the radio and having people go nuts about it. Go for it!

What an incredible blessing! Thank you!!

I think NSD could definitely be a hit. As Julie says: go for it! It is a really fantastic track. The lyrics and Eric's vocals are brilliant, and I always have a soft spot for distinctive drum and guitar work, and I love the tambourine. I love the whole arrangement. A great track for shutting your eyes and playing imaginary drums and the air guitar every time you hear it. Bernie & Co, THANK YOU SO MUCH!

Eric ~ You have really fantastic unreleased tracks ~ Never Say Die, Devil and the Deep Blue Sea, to name just two ~ PLEASE release a CD with them ALL on. PLLEEEEEEASE!!! You are an incredibly talented guy ~ I'm so glad I've discovered your music. Please don't keep all your gems hidden away for just the lucky few.

Don't give up and hang on to the fire inside…

It's a really good Eric Carmen song, despite Desmond Child...and Desmond should be bludgeoned for saying "Bacharach" in reference to himself... luckily Eric had the experience (i.e. he worked w/ Jimmy Ienner) to handle bloated producers etc... Irony: stript of the "original" bad production and reinforced with real instruments, the song takes life... and the vocals are great... proving Desmond don't know diddly...

Here's my dream:

Bernie should take Eric Carmen out to Los Angeles to see Jon Brion perform at Largo on a Friday night. Afterwards, Bernie & Eric should meet Jon and discuss the possibility of working together. Tommy Allen can also help, working as a liaison regarding the whole process. (Tommy knows Brion fairly well.) THIS would be an exciting way for Eric to get back to his roots and his love for great pop music (i.e. Beach Boys, Left Banke, Beatles...) and make modern recordings that sound amazing and reinforce his best instincts.

Hey Pierson!

Thanks for the kind words, but once again I must step back and push my good friend Tommy Allen into the spotlight. Heck, I was just the guy with the tape and the money. Sure, I wanted to play some guitar on it, who wouldn't? -- but Tommy is the guy who should get FULL CREDIT for polishing this gem. He did more for "Never Say Die" than anyone (myself included) and I am darned proud of what he accomplished.
