James
Did Wally absolutely tear up the guitar on "I'm a Rocker" and "Ecstacy"?What song most moved the audience? My guess: "Overnight Sensation" or "I Can Remember"Was "Makin it Easy" as good live as I suspected it would be?What was "If You Change Your Mind" like live? Was Eric Carmen up to duplicating the climax of the studio version? While a group can never play everything one wants to hear I'm very surprised they didn't play "Cruisin Music"! Tiggsherby
Crusin Music was on the playlist but they just ran short on time and didn't do it.Though only week has passed, it starting to feel like a dream...James you missed it, dude...Wally tore it up on everything, the audience was moved by "every" song all night long. "Makin it easy" was superb etc, etc, etc...get your #$% to Cleveland for New Years Eve and "live" it for yourself!!!
aggiesjc
Harry is right. EVERY song moved the audience! Each one was like a different flavor in a bag of candy - delightful in its own way, and evoking tons of reaction from the audience. I was lucky enough (thanks to Marvin) to get to hear Cruisin' Music and Driving Around during the afternoon sound check, though those songs didn't make it into the concert itself. Just goes to show you how deep the lineup of original Raspberries music is. Jennifer
James
Thanks Jennifer and Tiggs. My #$% is gambling they will come to Chicago.......figure they're just ironing out the wrinkles in Cleveland to prepare for the Chicago show
PowerPopJames
Truly one of the best shows I've ever attended and I've attended quite a few! Wally, and the rest of the band for that matter, were at the top of their game. I'm not so sure about gambling on the fact they'll play Chicago, didn't EC say something about a possible tour of Japan only? Hope I'm wrong... darlene
James, To answer your questions:Yes, Yes, Yes, Yes and YES!I Can Remember was an absolute jewel. Even one of the reviewers said it was the one that blew him away, and he didn't expect THAT one to be. *I* did!My special favorite, though, was I Wanna Be With You. When that screen went up after Bernie's phenomenally touching video, which ended when the word RASPBERRIES rolled by (in the color raspberry!) and the word TONIGHT flashed on and off on the screen, the screen rolled up and there they were, just playing I Wanna Be With You! I got up on my feet and started screaming, tears welling up and running from my eyes--and we were transported to "way back when!" You haven't missed it--you *will* get to see it, because it's just gonna keep going! --Darlene
sthom3521
James - "If You Change Your Mind" was a killer. They reproduced the climax middle part flawlessly. Someone (I believe Marvin) said Eric forgot the words to that one, but I wasn't paying attention. Eric could have spoken Chinese and I wouldn't have minded. That is my favorite Raspberries song. marvin
Since teleprompters became the norm rather than the exception at concerts, I've gotten used to seeing performers use these 'cue cards' to help them with their lyrics. Springsteen uses them all the time. Can't fault someone for having difficulties remembering words to songs when their catalogue is extensive, and except for the "If You Change Your Mind" flub, I congratulate the 'berries' for remembering words to songs that are over 30 years old. aggiesjc
Eric even joked toward the beginning of the show that he was happy to see all the fans near the stage singing so that if he were to forget the words to any songs, he could just watch the audience. The band's mood seemed to be light and upbeat through that brief moment of forgotten words, and a few technical problems with instruments. Wally kept us entertained with a few jokes while the details were worked out. Jennifer
Paulguitar
Was it "If You Can Change Your Mind" or "Let's Pretend" that Eric forgot the words? I seem to remember it being "Let's Pretend" but I could be wrong...Paul
