Where are the fans?

Recommended Posts

Just a quick question here... We know that there are a lot of Eric's fans in Japan. Is there any other place that has a big pocket of EC fans? Where are all of you from? It might make setting up a concert tour easier for Eric if he knows what places he has the biggest fan base.

To start it all off -- I'm up here in Ottawa, Canada. Not quite halfway between Montreal and Toronto. Come on up here any time Eric (and everyone else too!). laugh

I know over the years I've "sold" a lot of Eric Carmen music in the Seattle just by exposing everyone too it. The music sels itself. "Oh yeah, love that song...THAT'S Eric Carmen?" You guys know the drill.

Hey Michelle, I was in Toronto all last week on business. Did you go to the Toronto show Tuesday (Abbey Road). I had tickets than cancelled when Eric wasn't going to be there. Then I get Toronto, checked into the KinG Edward (Beatle once stayed there) and found out Massey Hall was just about three blocks from my hotel. A business assocate then told me he's going to to a show next week in the states and I was crazy to cancel.

Just curious if anyone saw that show.

I live in Mondamin, Iowa -- population 350 (assuming nobody is on vacation or in the hospital). That's about 45 miles north of Omaha, Nebraska and 60 miles south of Sioux City, Iowa. Omaha, being pretty much in the center of this great country of ours, would be the PERFECT spot for Eric to do a show happy (by the way, "Mondamin" is the Indian name for corn) --Julie, the farm gal

I don't want this to sound rude or anything but, at the end of our posts, it shows where we are from.

I know, but a lot of time people only put the state they're from, not the city. I was wondering more where exactly people were from, then we could map out what venues Eric should be playing, if he ever does get around to doing a tour...

Michelle, I'm originally from San Francisco but now live in Bremerton, Washington, across the water from Seattle and Tacoma...and actually not far from Seattle Steve.

My birthday is on Oct. 18th -- a day shared with Chuck Berry and Jean Claude Van Damme...

Matthew, I see you are from Madonna-land, and also the area where those Scottish guys of "Saturday Night" fame got the name of their band. (I presume you've heard the story!) A lot of rock and roll connections in the Midland/Bay City/Saginaw area.

Steveh, how about a concert in Youngstown, OH?

...easy access for both Pennsylvania and Ohio residents...and not an area that really gets much in the way of concerts.

And Julie, you must be somewhere in the Council Bluffs area. A couple of friends are planning to go there to experience the novelty of saying they've been to all the Harrah's clubs.

I personally live in southern Wisconsin, right across the border from Illinois. I know that there is a group of posters from Chicago, Milwaukee, Madison, all of which are less than 2 hours from me. So anywhere in the midwest would be good for me (hint, hint!) smilie

Steve: I did go to the Toronto gig after all, my hubby made me (I think he was trying to get a bit of peace and quiet from me for a couple of hours). I didn't want to go as I believed I would be a traitor to Eric, but hub said if we'd come all that way, because we couldn't get any flight or hotel refunds, I might as well go, so we called into the box office a few hours before the show and got just one ticket. Our hotel, the Delta Chelsea, was only a few minutes walk away.

I only knew the music of Christopher Cross, Alan Parsons and Jack Bruce, I hadn't even heard of Mark Farner (though I was impressed with how much he seemed to be enjoying himself, and Jack Bruce who was on stage the whole time). I'd only heard the name Todd Rundgren and I still couldn't tell you anything about his music, it just went in one ear and out the other (there's not much in between). I know that he and Mark Farner could do with a haircut.

I sat most of the time during the concert with a sulky bottom lip, trying to imagine Eric up on the stage and wondering what songs he would have sung. The second half was all Beatles songs. I, as usual, had someone bigger than me sitting in front obscuring most of my view (though he did change seats for a short while) and a guy in front of him that kept getting up and going out and coming back every ten or so minutes. Plus I had a guy sitting behind me chain-smoking until he got told off by security.

During the interval I heard people asking where Eric Carmen was and was he in the show, and commenting that they liked his music. I am a concert lover anyway, but for me, this one was like apple pie, but without any apple in it because it lacked the vital ingredient.

Michelle: I am in London, but I will travel to the ends of the earth to see Eric in concert. Isn't he just wonderful!

Michelle,

I, too, am in Cranbury, NJ, just north of Princeton, about 1 mile south of Darlene. Hmmm, seems to me the 'pocket' of EC fans is just off Exit 8A of the New Jersey Turnpike!

Bernie, in your spare time (!) how about designing an interactive world map that will allow us to show where we all live. Dave
