Raspbernie
If the boys decide to do some solo spotlights, that'll be fine by me. If they decide to do a song or two from the group's fourth album, that'll be okay as well. If they decide to just play straight Raspberries tunes from the first three LPs and nothing else, that'll be TERRIFIC as well. What I'm saying is the fact that they've agreed to play together as a band is more than enough for me. In fact, anything they decide to play when the lights go down will cause me to stomp my feet and shout out loudÖ so BRING IT ON!Bernie
Collin
I've had time to entertain these fantasies before and in my opinion and my mind the perfect opener would be 'I Can Remember' followed by a nice seque into 'Go All The Way.' I'd really love to hear 'Ecstacy,' 'Tonight,' and 'If You Change Your Mind' as well.Eric solo, The Choir and Fotomaker songs would be a treat as well. marvin
We all have our songs that we want to hear, but as silly as this might sound, when the band hits the stage, regardless of what they're playing, I know my eyes are going to be filled with tears.I've mentioned this to Dave S: the 'berries werenot the biggest band in the world by any means, nor did they have the largest fan base, but the fans that they did have will stand by them forever. Doesn't matter what they're playing, I'll be applauding...and crying. Marvin
darlene
I absolutely agree, Marvin. After not hearing Eric sing for all those years, just hearing the first notes out of his throat brought tears to my eyes. I was completely transfixed, and it was so much better than I could ever have imagined! All the original Berries...! That will be nothing short of AMAZING! --Darlene
LarryGL
I agree with Marvin and Darlene. I was moved to tears several times when I saw Eric playing in the All-Starr Band. First at the sight of Eric singing and playing songs with a real live Beatle--and later--when the entire audience gave Eric two standing ovations for his performance of "All By Myself" (beginning and end). I was so PROUD of Eric--he's accomplished a wonderful dream--a dream I'd been rooting to manifest for him for decades. It was vindication for him for all the years of heartache he'd endured.I'm getting a bit teary just thinking of it! God bless ya' Eric--you DID it man--you DID it! Paul Sidoti
This is for Jeff.. I do believe the magic of the initial KISS reunion could have been a great stopping point but you have to think back at that time when everyone was still so elated about Peter and Ace being back that a new studio record was sooo in demand and overdue. Unfortunately with the recording of Psycho Circus, it all came back to the old reasons the band had difficulties with the 'long haul'. Peter and Ace only played on one track on that record, Ace's song "Into The Void", and it was at Ace's insistence that Peter not be completely left off the record. Kevin Valentine was brought in to record drums on the entire project and Tommy Thayer and Paul did most of the guitar work. Fortunately for me though, they continued on with the Psycho Circus tour which I was a member of the merchandise crew and got to live every KISS' fan dream come true. A little sidenote....For all the 'Berries fans, I nearly spit my food out one day when I was backstage eating dinner as KISS were doing their soundcheck when I heard that familiar decending guitar arpeggio breakdown in 'Go All The Way'!! It was Paul Stanley, warming up before they started and I know that I was probably the only one that knew what he was playing. It was such a cool moment, one I wish every Raspberries fan could experience. This coming from one of my idols, no less. Then on the Farewell tour, I rode up with Jim and Barb to Detroit where Jim got to meet the band and have a great picture taken. Check out Press Archive from the site here in 2000, KISS meets Jim Bonfanti. I'm actually in that picture but I was photoshop'ed out! JIM!!! haha, I have a great copy though that Jim made for me, nice 11x14 of all of us. It was neat being around the 'mutual admiration society'. KISS made Jim feel so awesome, you could tell he was on cloud nine. Heck, he even bought a KISS t-shirt and wore it to my next trio gig the following Monday where he'd come up and jam with us. (Just as Boxer was being formed). Anyway, I'll give ya'll's eyes a break! haha, take care.. Paul
marvin
Great story Paul. Thanks for sharing it with us. The one memory I have of KISS is, I saw them at the Montreal Forum around 1977, and it was at that time THE LOUDEST SHOW I'D EVER HEARD!Marvin
Craig Benfer
Speaking of teary eyed.... the tears were rolling out pretty steadily at the Odean show when the berries opened up with It's Cold Outside. I'd kinda like to see then open up with that again without Eric on stage and then roll right into another number as Eric joins the band. mymooladi
It's a Raspberries reunion, I'm not sure why you wouldn't want all of then on stage. June
mannoman
Sure, I have my favorite songs but I'm just looking forward to seeing them all play again and I do mean all.I know Michael can't play anymore but that doesn't mean he can't make an appearance on stage. That leaves Scott. Therein lies the problem. Scott's contribution always seems to be under appreciated. No matter how you shake it there were 6 Berries. Some lasted longer than others but that doesn't lessen what the 'second helping' of Berries gave to the fan base. I was fortunate enough to see them live. They were excellent. They all (6) contributed some great musical memories for us all. They all should be there. I know I will.(wherever 'there' turns out to be). steve-o
I just got the hospital bill for my surgery so I won't being going anywhere unless the boys come to Tampa. I somehow doubt that they will so I sure hope a DVD and/or CD is part of the package.Otherwise I will just have to be content with my memories of the 2 shows I saw back in 74 & 75 of the Starting Over lineup.Oh please let there be a DVD and/or CDSteve-O
DeanTylerVO
Well, based on the Odeon show a few years back and what I remember of the opening moments on The Cleveland Music Hall show after Side 3 was out, WHATEVER the line up is and WHATEVER they play, It's my guess any one of us who is fortunate enough to be at that first show or any shows that may go after that, will be ELECTRIFIED from moment one. As I posted earlier, even with Dave, Wally,Jim and Scott on stage at the Odeon, call it what you will..."IT" will be damn special...
Billy K.
I would have to agree, Dean! It's not like they come around every six months or year to play, like seeing Tom Petty..........Even Wally solo on acoustic I would go see!!
mamacote
Even Wally solo on acoustic I would go see!! I SECOND THAT!
darlene
It's fun to speculate about what they'll play and even give opinions about who "should" be included, but, if it's going to be the four original Raspberries, no matter WHAT they do, it's a dream come true. If it flies and they're happy doing it, then there's always a chance they will include the others at a future time. I'm not going to criticize a THING, because all I want to do is encourage it so it DOES happen! Then, when it does, other things can naturally follow. No, I'm not even BREATHING on this project, so it has no chance to fall apart. Only GOOD Karma! POSITIVE thoughts, happiness and LOTS OF LEMONADE! --Darlene
aggiesjc
Yes, Darlene, only positive thoughts! Fingers and toes crossed!
mymooladi
I agree Darlene, positive happy thoughts that these guys can actually pull it off and have some fun doing it too. I don't care what they play, how they play it, or in what order, seeing these talented guys on one stage, something I never thought I'd ever see, is plenty good enough for me. And if that happens I'm sure I'm gonna have a huge grin on my face that won't come off for quite some time. Who ever thought I'd get a second shot at this, even if it's just a possibility. In the meantime I'll be drinking lemoade too. June
Sally G
Maybe lots of people are speculating about how it will be or who all will be there because they want to discuss it somehow in the meantime. Until we start getting the word on more details other than it's on... I guess this is what many of us will need to do until then, and it's a fun way to be able to talk about it to pass the time until the dream becomes a reality. Then of course this board will catch fire and it will be a challenge to keep up with all the threads!!All The Best,Joyce Marie
marlene
I think this board is already smokin'. I have a hard time keeping up NOW, so I'm wondering how I'll stay focused if things get any wilder !!I don't even like lemonade...but if you have plenty to pass around, Darlene...I'll take some, too (extra sugar!) . I love this anticipation and excitement !!AND...I actually just finished Marathon Man...it was terrific!! It's taken me longer some of you to completely read..but, I kept wanting to go back and reread some chapters just to get all the information straight in my brain Bernie...I LOVED it from beginning to end. And now, the possiblity of seeing the Raspberries perform....It's just amazing !
marvin
Ok indulge me a little bit and accept the fact that I tend to get over emotional at times. This morning after breakfast, I put on "I Wanna Be With You", turned the volume to 11, grabbed my 2 1/2 yr old daughter and started dancing, while my wife looked on in bewilderment. While singing at the top of my voice, I started to get quite teary-eyed as a flood of memories came back to me, memories of hearing the 'berries 30 years ago, how much their music has meant to me and continues to mean to me. Now fast forward to the present and I still find it impossible to believe that in a short time I will be re-living those experiences all over again, with my heroes in person! Anyone care to dance?Marvin
Tom
Marvin,Ah I understand. I literally got goosebumps when I read that the reunion was on. I think about the first time I saw them in '73...how life has changed....I think I'll be in a near state of psychosis on the days leading up to the concert!
darlene
NOW Marvin wants to dance! Remember at "Weekend at Bernie's," when WD started playing, I asked Marvin, "Wanna Dance?" Of course he said "No"! I'm such a stinker, I had to do it... --D
Daryl
Hello Bernie and company! It's been about 2 years since I've posted, though I check back to the website every few months just to see whatsa goin' on! I'm tHRILLED to hear about this reunion. And, if the boys can't make it to the Detroit area, you can bet I'll be making the 3 hour drive to Cleveland!OUTSTANDING!And Bernie, as always, you're doing a SUPERB job and providing us fans with countless smiles!
