blackhawkpat
After reading Don's Mike Reno/Ann Wilson post, it made me wonder, who would you like to hear Eric do a new duet with? (That Carmen guy can feel free to chime in if he wants to!)My vote is for ex-Bangle, Susanna Hoffs. I think they would make a great record together!Thoughts or suggestions? darlene
I've always wished I would get a chance to hear Eric sing something with Merry Clayton again. They were dynamite together. --D
Matthew C. Clark
There is a brand new CD by Matthew Sweet & Susanna Hoffs called "Under The Covers: Volume 1" out by Tuesday, April 18 on Shout! Factory. Just go HERE for more information. Matt
darlene
Thanks, Matt. You are a walking dictionary of musical information! --Darlene
Paulie Mississippi
CMT Crossroads recently had Bon Jovi and Sugarland do a concert together. It'd be cool for Raspberries to get going with some younger country act; great exposure to a differnent audience and as Eric has said that much of what's good music wise is coming out of Nashville these days, not too far-fetched. I'd vote for someone like Trace Adkins or Keith Anderson, who seem to like to rock a little themselves! (Although I can imagine Eric sharing the mike with Sara Evans too!) Don_Krider
Eric might want to pull a Frank Sinatra one day and do a "Duets" album with a bunch of artists --- a mix of rock tunes and ballads, originals and covers (perhaps Raspberries' "I Can Hardly Believe You're Mine" with Joan Jett, or (start throwing stuff) a cover of "California Nights" with Lesley Gore).Don
Tony Cartmill
I'd settle for Eric duets with the top six American Idol girls. The right Carmen song makes anyone sound better...Even the fat ones.
susana
Oh, Don - I'm not going to throw anything! LOL Your idea of "California Nights" is a good one. I've always been partial to "Brink of Disaster" - I vote for that one as the Lesley Gore duet. S*
Paulie Mississippi
Quote: Eric might want to pull a Frank Sinatra one day and do a "Duets" album with a bunch of artists --- Worked for Jimmy Buffett just a couple of years ago... He discovered that a lot of today's country artists were fans of his in earlier years; much like many great acts point to Eric and the Raspberries as idols of theirs... Eric Carmen
Susanah Hoffs is an interesting choice. She's got a very special vocal quality and I love her vulnerability. There are so many great female vocalists it would be really hard to choose just one. Martina McBride's voice is spectacular. And I love, LOVE Faith Hill! As for the American Idol girls, Kelly Clarkson has now had, what FIVE hits from the last record? And just today I was on my way to the gym, punching the buttons on my car radio and I hit this really upbeat, fun, well recorded, kinda countryish song, but it sounds like Keith Moon is playing drums. And I was thinking, this is some of the most exciting drumming I've heard on a pop record in a long, long time and pretty daring for a song like this and then the record ends and the DJ says "That was Carrie Underwood." And I'll tell you guys one more thing. If Kelly Pickler doesn't have a record just as good out by this time next year, I'll eat my hat. e
danmichel
An Eric Carmen/Vince Gill duet could be honey for the ears...I'd like to see that matchup on the CMT Crossroads show.
darlene
Of the current ladies, I would love to hear Eric and Faith Hill sing together. I love everything she's done and I think their voices would complement each other beautifully. She's such a natural musician--I think that kind of collaboration would be a dream to hear. --D
Peachie
What about a husband & wife duet like Clint Black and Lisa Hartman Black?

Craig Benfer
Some real talent has been on the American Idol stage. I hated to see Gedeon go lastnight. I wish I had my own record label. I'd be giving him a call.
Sally G
Eric Carmen and Faith Hill! Oh my goodness, what a perfect match vocally! Dream come true for my ears. Even Tim McGraw admits that his woman can sing circles around him.All The Best,Joyce
darlene
It sounds like singing just comes so easily for her. She opens her mouth and there it is. Gorgeous sound, too. Both she and Eric have an amazing complement of tone colors in their vocal palettes. Mellifluous and *very* resonant. Like spun gold, but smooth. Ahhhh! What an idea... Paulie Mississippi
Sounds like Kelly Pickler might be a possibility for a duet too... especially if she gets the boot from idol!
Poor4Life
The thing with duets is, it's usually always a guy/girl matchup. Very rarely do you see guy/guy duets. Buffett's album from last year had quite a few great duets like this.So how about Eric and John Waite? I think they're voices would compliment one another quite well... BeatleJay
Much to my surprise, I read the name Matthew Sweet here on EC. Please check out his solo material people!
Paulie Mississippi
Buffett is somewhat of a rarity, true. But it worked. (I loved him and Alan Jackson doing "It's Five O'Clock Somewhere") I think it depends on the song; two guys can get away with a "guy" song, but a love song is another story...Buffett and Jackson are teaming up again. Buffett is doing the soundtrack for some movie this summer and he and Alan have anotehr duet due out from that like next month.
Poor4Life
Another good duet with 2 guys that I just thought of was "Used to be Bad" by McCartney and Steve Miller, from Paul's "Flaming Pie" Cd from 1997...Jeff
