What should Erics next album cover look like?

Recommended Posts

Eric's so good-looking that having his picture on the album cover is a must. As for background, clothes, colors, angles, I'll need to give it some thought! Bernie should jump in on this question, since designing something eye-catching probably relates to his work, and with this website as an example, he's got a lot of talent for it!

Since the "TYM" cover started all this, and since Eric will qualify for the 'senior discount' starting next year, I thought I would reprise the lyrics for "TYM". This is one of those 15 minute brainstorms that blows through occasionally..."Tonight You're Mine" (2004 version) Bagpipes wheezing...

Took me so long to get up my, um , courage

Never thought she'd give me a chance

Took her out and told her I loved her

Then she helped me take off my pants

And she said

Come on, take me

I hope your love is working

Make it work for me just once more

Because

Tonight you're mine

I've been waitin' such a long long time (please be patient)

For tonight, I've got you all to myself

Tonight, how 'bout a little help

Because, tonight you're mine

Tonight you're mine

She woke up at 4 in the morning

Whispered to me "let's do it again"

I felt strange like something was missing

Reached for the Viagra and waited again

But I said come on, take me

I hope this doesn't break me

Please let me do this just once more

Because

Tonight you're mine

I've been waitin' such a long long time (if you only knew)

For tonight, I got you all to myself

Tonight, how 'bout a little help

Because, tonight you're mine

Tonight you're mine

Was it something I forgot to take

That took romance away

Can it be that now the feelin's gone (sigh)

You know I can't be wrong

Just look at how long it's gone because

Tonight you're mine

I've been waitin' such a long long time

For tonight, how 'bout a little help

Well tonight, I've got you all to myself

Because- Tonight you're mine

Because- I better drink a little wine

Because- Tonight you're mine

Because- I'm just waitin' for a little sign (fade out)

Man, I sure needed that laugh! What a great song remake!

You forgot the part about "she woke up at 4 in the morning" and he was already up having to pee (again) because of the prostate enlargement. <img border="0" alt="[blech!]" title="" src="graemlins/blech.gif" />

That is very funny, Kirk. However, since I'm about

two years older than Eric, that senior discount is

starting to look good...

I get the feeling that most of the fans on the board are younger than I am (and Eric is),and just

wait until you all get a little bit older.

Afterglow will give way to hot flashes, girls!

But no matter, if Eric tours when I'm 89, I'll still be down in the audience all revved up and

cheering...

With all this chatter by us about TYM album cover, what would you like the next album cover to look like?

I wanna play too! Any clue as to what the name of the album will be? Any leaks about possible songs that will be used as the album title?

Maybe it could be something along the lines of -- "(After All is Said and Done) The Music Never Fades." You know -- you struggle to make it big, then you struggle to compete (commercialism -- feed it or fight it??), then you struggle to keep your career going; then you realize, it's always been about the music and you can finally write and perform music for music's sake. The struggle seemed important at the time, but it never really was, and your music likely suffered because of it. No more struggle, no more constraints, and you can feel free to simply write and play and sing yourself silly! AT LAST!

For those who are lucky enough to have had music as an avocation all their lives -- they were the lucky ones. Not that you don't appreciate the fame and the "fortune," but to simply embrace music because you FEEL like it . . . HEAVEN! Music never sounds good when recorded on red tape. ("QUICK! Write that down!) cool

Once I know what the theme of the album is -- it will be much more fun designing a cover! Anyone know anything about what's coming??

10-Q!

P.S. Okay -- old, probably over-asked and over-answered question, but I'd really like to know: why "The Raspberries?" Blackberries were controversial? Or because everyone was into the noise made by sticking out one's tongue and blowing?! (Minds OUT of the gutter, please?! LOL!!)

Thanks again! spin

Beep, are you serious about the part where you said "Blackberries were controversial". I must have missed that. I guess back in the late '60 and early '70s, with all the interracial stuff going on, the Black Panthers, etc., people would have been overly sensitive about anything with the term "Black" in it. Americans would be the same today about anything with the term "Iraq" in it.

Looking back at all EC's old photos posted in the "Pictures" section of this site, I see a large proportion of the outfits EC was wearing showed off a lot of skin. Now, I know it was the 'look' of the 1970's, but, for the sake of most of us female listers here, I put my vote in for something similar for the next album cover. Even the image taken in 2000 -

http://www.ericcarmen.com/images/xp/pxericringo1.jpg was pretty darn sexy. I was disappointed by Winter Dreams - where was the skin? Where was the sexually explict language in the songs? We want more on the next album!!

Hi Michelle (and all!),

I was halfway serious, I guess, about the "controversial 'Blackberries!'" crazy

(I need to start writing again; at least, then I'd have an excuse for my absurdity!! **g**)

Beep, From what I've read, the name was chosen because the group had to come up with a name fast,

and bandmembers were suggesting names, and other bandmembers were saying "NO!" and making fun of every suggestion. Eric said he came up with one name, and someone said something derogatory and he

just said "Oh, raspberries!" And someone said

"That's IT!" The search for a name was over.

Nothing more deep than that, as I understand it.

Nothing to do with blackberries, or blueberries.

Just Eric making Raspberries at the rest of his band...

LOL! THAT is funny!! I'm always interested in the origin of names, precisely because of that. Sometimes the name is well thought out, sometimes it's "deep" and meaningful, and sometimes it just -- IS! That's the kind of stuff the world is made of. "The Raspberries" may not be the "stuff of tales," but hey -- it's better than Puff Diddly Squat, or whatever! spin

Beep, I agree, you don't necessarily have to show skin to be sexy. However, I draw the line at anyone looking sexy with no skin at all. That WOULD be extremely messy. "I've got you under my skin" takes on a whole new meaning. Of course, "I've got nothing to hide", does as well!

LOL! Glad you caught that! **g**

I'll tell ya one song, in particular, that just slays me, when it comes to giving things "new meaning!" If you follow the song, using CORRECT English, it sounds absolutely idiotic: "I Only Have Eyes for You!" No other body part -- no arms, no heart, no "gitchy-gitchy" equipment, nothing! Eyes alone! Personally, at the moment, I have no desire/need for anyone else's eyes. My own work just fine thank ye! I have a photographic memory (in some cases), so misspellings and bad grammar completely drive me nuts! ("Short trip," I know! HAR!) I can overlook it -- and even enjoy it -- when it's done to make an "artistic" point. Otherwise, it's like fingernails on a chalkboard. . . . AAAauuugghhhhhh!! Know what I mean, Jean?? Know what I said, Fred? wink

Regarding my quickie trip to Cinti and back: OUCH! Got my meds, though. And some wild "face dip" to use for my sinus infection. (Dr. B is also holistic and homeopathic, which is why I like him so much!) (But "face dip??" I have no chips!) :p

Michelle maybe Eric's lyrics aren't as explicit anymore because:

1) He's not writing from the perspective of a young, single male, or,

2) He doesn't write the lyrics to his songs as much as he used to, usually relying on his co-writer to do the lyric work.

In any case, check out the lyrics to some of the songs on "WD." There's some pretty heavy inuendo going on there and also some lyrics that get right down to the point!
