illbewith you tonight
if that clip of the raspberries doing "tonight" live isn't one of the greatest performances ever, then ship me off airmail to the amazon. forget this power pop nonsense, the were ROCK pure and simple. I'm 47 and i greatly regret that i did not see them live. C;MON GUYS, GET BACK TOGETHER FOR THE SAKE OF ALL OF US. DON'T WAIT UNTIL IT TOO LATE. SETTLE WHATEVER PETTY DIFFERENCES YOU HAVE AND DO WHAT YOU GUYS DO BEST....ROCK!!!!
Eric Carmen
There are no "petty differences" keeping us from doing anything. ec

danmichel
I think that (i'll be with you tonight) may have some catch up reading to do as far as The Raspberries are concerned...The success of The Raspberries recent reunion has been well documented on ericcarmen.com...I've never heard it mentioned here that that was the end of The Raspberries...It seems more like the reunion was a new beginning...With a new live album on the way, The Raspberries are back...And they may (we hope) go on another tour fairly soon. gordharris
I checked out the clip. I even like it,Bernie, I wish I COULD have a clip of that too, count me in.
Tiggsherby
Please clarify: when you say no "petty differences" does that mean that the differences are significant (opposed to petty) or basically non-existent????
seattlesteve
Let's make sure we don't artificially manufacture any differences that were herebefore non-existent.To us it's our music, but it's their lives, let things play out... the outcome will be positive for all I'm sure. julesberry
I read it as positive.
darlene
I realize that because we lost Raspberries for so long it's natural to be scared it will go away again. That said, it confounds me that people think the guys, or even some of them, may not be committed making things happen. Musicians of the calibre of Raspberries know what they have and it's their very nature to be committed to that. When I read Eric's post I interpreted it that nothing is keeping them from doing anything. As Seattle Steve said, it will play out the way it needs to and I have no doubt the Berries are planning it all to do just that. Relax and be happy! A cd and dvd coming out--all is well in the world of Raspberries! --Darlene
JCraft
Hmmmmmm-----More to come???---Live Album???----and what of the missing DVD??????---This is like a "Dallas" cliff hanger!!!! And what of us kindly Southerners who never got to see the tour???? You know its getting cold earlier up north, and Eric and the guys may not be able to handle the cold as well as they did in years past. Come south to sunny Florida!!! We seemed to have missed the hurricane, so far, so we need some excitement. I can see it now----Raspberries DVD release PARTY!!!House of Blues--Downtown Disney!!!OHH----YESSS!!!JIM
gordharris
ok, yes, what about us Canadians who have not seeyou Eric and would love to, I would even cut offmy right arm to see you live OR on DVD.My art work arm...O.ooops!
darlene
Horrors, Gord, don't do that! That arm is *way* too talented! (And so is the other one!) The dvd and cd will be my gift to you when they come out. And that's a *promise.* As for a live performance, I can't send you that. You'll have to come out of your frozen Canadian hidey-hole to see Raspberries. I'm so glad to see you back with us! In the meantime, take good care of those arms and hands! --Love, Darlene
illbewith you tonight
erici didn't mean anything negative by the "petty differences" comment, it was kind of a backwards compliment and an attempt to encourage you that you and the raspberries are greatly appreciated by those of us who "got" what you were communicating in your music. For me personally, the two groups that were and have been with me for most of my life (through good and bad) are the beatles and the raspberries. good music last a long time, great music (yours) is eternal. As I have said in other posts, i never met you or talked to you, but you have spoken to me through your music for over 25 years. I would like to shake your hand sir and state "JOB WELL DONE". Brother, we're all getting older and it would be great to see the raspberries playing live. tim from long island
Eric Carmen
Being in the Raspberries is like being married to three people. We all love each other, but, just like in any marriage, there are times when you'd like to.......well, you catch my drift. We've known each other for almost forty years. We've lived through the best of times and the worst of times. We agree on some things, disagree on others. Sometimes it seems like we need to rent a bigger rehearsal space, just for our baggage, but I'd miss each and every one of 'em if we didn't go on. There's nothing keeping us from doing anything. And I just finished listening to a mix of "Let's Pretend," from the live recording, that's gonna knock your socks off. ec
Kirk
I started swaying back and forth at the computer just thinking about it! I'm so looking forward to the new mixes of my old favorite songs, many of which were played at the L.A. show. Sounds like the producer is doing a good job, eh? Kirk. Raspbernie
The newest member of the EC.COM community, "The Fly" was right there with our boys when those GREAT videos were filmed at the Record Plant. illbewith you tonight
ericnow that we cleared that mess up, where did you come up with some of the chord fingerings that i see on the "tonight" footage (is a standard tuning). Your chord progressions are a work of art and just seem to make sense in most of your songs.YOU HAVE A LOT OF FANS THESE PARTS (THE HOME OF ROCK AND ROLL, LONG ISLAND). darlene
If we put it all into perspective, as Shirley Temple used to say, "My GOOD-ness!" Not even a year ago Raspberries was finishing a nice long tour--their first in about 32 years! That tour didn't come long after a definitive new book about Eric was published, followed by the definitive book on the Raspberries Reunion Tour. Now we're awaiting a brand new cd and dvd and are celebrating a state-of-the-art brand new Official Website. And, if people are the least bit nervous because they haven't heard news for a week or so, we get direct news from one of the band members about what's going on! WOW!!!! When you think of all those years when nothing was happening and we didn't even have a website to consult but we all still hung on, HAVEN'T WE COME A LONG WAY, BABY?! I can only dare to imagine what's coming up! I'm enjoying every SECOND of this for all it's worth--*especially* the anticipation! That makes the reality even sweeter! --Darlene
darlene
A HUNDRED WELCOMES TO "THE FLY"!!! I had heard a lot about him from MANY different quarters and had always wanted to meet him, but I wasn't prepared for what a fun, terrific and adorable guy he is!!! (And he doesn't live far from me!) I got so wrapped up in talking to "The Fly" in the meet-and-greet line after the first Reunion Concert that I almost missed the meet-and-greet! A HUNDRED *MORE* WELCOMES TO YOU!!! Can't wait to read your first post! --Love, Darlene
HT from Mo
I just checked out the link. All I can say is AWESOME!!!!!! How cool to go back in time and see how rock was meant to be played! My girls even enjoyed watching them. My 6 yr old kept asking about Eric's "poofy hair". Great stuff to share with my family. Thanks again Jeff!
