  1. Interestingly, it's the SLOW version that got me really emotionally! And it shows off all those gorgeous chord progressions and reveals more of Eric's beautiful piano work.

    SXSW

Here is the complete text of this 2012 Springsteen SXSW speech: https://www.rollingstone.com/music/music-news/exclusive-the-complete-text-of-bruce-springsteens-sxsw-keynote-address-86379/
  3. You know you've hit the really big time when you're named as a crossword puzzle entry! πŸ™‚ 🀣 πŸ˜‰ Too bad EC / Rachmaninoff Estate doesn't glean royalties from this mention!
  4. For a non-EC fan, he writes well - I'm laughing if only because of the over-the-top descriptions and careful editing/inclusion of the YouTube comments (of which there are THOUSANDS, btw. The official Hungry Eyes video has (as of tonight....) 137,666,121 views! One year ago, I commented that it had 90 million views! That kind of streaming popularity doesn't just happen by accident?!!!
  5. I think we should proceed with publishing this calendar - easy enough to do here if the Men of EricCarmen.com want to email me photos! https://www.calendarlabs.com/photo-calendar/
  6. Stunning visual detail! Is that a Brush HS class ring in the early few seconds' zoom? πŸ™‚
  7. I'm in for $50 to help out! Put any extra surplus taken in this year into the EC website "slush fund" to help cover this cost. Shhhhh. We won't tell anybody. Bernie - don't hesitate to make the plea again when necessary. I too got the "error" message and knew that something like this was going on. Thanks for staying on top of this, Bernie! We all appreciate and love you for this "labor of love"!
  8. This is a terrific thread! Gotta love the old school print promo! WAY before the Internet (email, Mosaic browser, etc.) came along!
  9. Care to elaborate on the "mostly"? πŸ˜‰
  10. I hear Eric-style "tenor float" counterpoint harmonies in the "Hello Goodbye" parallel octave harmonies above the melody line starting at 1:00. Which one of the Beatles sang the high tenor line? πŸ˜‰
  11. That particular operatic work is specifically noted for its "high C" demands on tenor singers. πŸ˜‰
  12. OK as long as we're talking C5's here, I'll drop in this clip of Gregory Kunde, whom I got to see/hear in college recitals when he was studying voice in the Music Dept. of Illinois State University during the same time my sister was in music school (they took a lot of classes together - my sister helped him eke his way through the music theory classes ;-). Many voice students get to college not really having much experience on any instruments such as piano so their theory skills are (generally) weaker. He's still going quite strong in his career (now in his upper 60's?) singing in opera houses all over Europe.
  13. Hello & Welcome to the website! I too have dug around for footage of Eric singing some of these incredible ballads, but alas - no luck so far!
  14. Love baseball! Of course, I'm likely to offend all the Clevelanders on this site πŸ˜‰ when I say that I'm a 4th gen Chicago Cubs fan (i.e. Cubs beating Cleveland in the 2016 World "Serious" as my dad used to call it)! I'd be curious as to how EC got invited to play in this charity baseball event. (Too bad the stands weren't totally full?!) RaspBernie - any details?
  15. I first became aware of this AMA Awards "Dirty Dancing" segment performance while digging around in Google Images and found some photos I'd not yet seen. I eventually ended up at this link: https://www.gettyimages.com/search/2/image?family=editorial&phrase=ERic carmen 1988 which has 14 photos taken live. There's just too much going on to believe that Eric was in "lip sync" mode? Because of how the balcony set he sings on opens up to the stage, I'm inclined to believe there was either a backing track or a live band involved.
