  1. I love this song and any way he wants to play it is fine by me.My favorite EC song ever!!!
  2. I spent a whole summer singing "Raspberry Beret" by Prince as "Rags nothing but rags the kind you find in a second hand store rags nothing but rags and if it was warm she wouldn't wear much more".
  3. I watched both episodes Stevie was loved seeing her and hearing her, especially the intro in the season finale where she did "Seven Wonders".Stevie is one of my top tier singers absolutely love her music both with and without Fleetwood Mac.
  4. Thanks for the welcome back.I have missed the site and especially the two of you.Looking forward to having many more "conversations" with you two and others.I just needed some time away but I was thinking of you. Here's to posting more about EC and Raspberries music and all kinds of music,it is what connects us all.
  5. Welcome to the site! Hope you enjoy it!
  6. Happy Birthday and may all your wishes come true!
  7. Yes,it is sad news.I love Linda's voice, such an amazing female vocalist.I grew up listening to Linda and own some of her records. When I was a little girl my favorite song of Linda's was and still is "Poor Poor Pitiful Me",I sang it so much my mother bought me the 45.Strangely I heard it last week in the grocery store and couldn't get it out of my head and a few days later I heard the news.I have memories of my life tied to Linda's voice and that is the greatest compliment you can give a singer or musician, that when you hear a song it takes you back to a moment in your life. One of my favorite songs of all time is "Different Drum" and I always love to sing along to it at the top of my lungs as well as "You're No Good".I remember my family went to visit relatives in Louisiana when I was 12, and I always hated being away from home, their son who was a year younger slept with the radio on.I can still remember laying on their living room floor and hearing "Somewhere Out There" as I was drifting off to sleep,it made me feel at home,I remember that everytime I hear that song to this day.I also loved Linda's vocal versatility such as her work in country music with Dolly Parton and Emmylou Harris. One of my favorite country singers,Trisha Yearwood, was heavily influenced by Linda vocally.Plus the work she did with The Nelson Riddle Orchestra,my favorite being "Someone To Watch Over Me",which also appeared on the soundtrack for my favorite tv show of the 80's "Moonlighting".I wish there was a cure for this awful disease and I wish we could hear Linda's beautiful voice again. It was very brave of her to come forward with her illness because I know she has always been very private.
  8. I don't look at any list seriously that has a Kanye West album in the Top 10.I mean I am mostly an 80's listener but this list dosen't have a lot of artist,The Eagles for one along with "Tapestry" Carole King.I would love to have seen "Dreamboat Annie" Heart,"Parallel Lines" Blondie,"Beauty And The Beat" Go-Go's,"Scarecrow" John Mellencamp,"Slippery When Wet" Bon Jovi,"Hi Infidelity" REO Speedwagon and of course either "Eric Carmen" or "Starting Over" Raspberries.I mean this list has a Hole and a Wu-Tang Klan album on it,enough said.I hate rap,for the very reason that if you think that is music, you need to get a new set of ears.Plus as far as rock goes if you don't have any of the albums listed above but you have Hole among others you don't have very good taste.
  9. I remember most of the songs but I have to admit not all of them and I have no idea who Randy Edelman even is.Not real familiar with Brick or LeBlanc & Carr. The rest of them I either know the song or the artist or both.Either way through the album I can learn a little about who they are and what they sounded like.
  10. I did find some used and still sealed copies of this on ebay,if anyone else is interested. There are also a couple on amazon-used.I only found vinyl though,I doubt if it was released in any other format.Actually just google Ronco Presents Superstars and there are a lot of online vinyl stores that have it.
  11. Hello! I have listened to Eric for years but only recently became a real fan and a collector.A couple of years ago a neighbor of mine was cleaning out some stuff and he knew I loved music so he gave me all of his grown kids vinyl records and albums that they had left, they must've been in that shed since the 80's.Anyway today I was cleaning and found a vinyl album I didn't remember that he gave me.It is titled "Ronco Presents Superstars" it says it is "As Seen On TV" with "Original Super Hits" and was released in 1978.It has Eric Carmen with "She Did It",I jumped up and ran to my record player,to play my found treasure that I didn't even know I had.The track list is,Side 1:"I Feel Love" Donna Summer,"Undercover Angel" Alan O'Day,"She Did It" Eric Carmen,'High School Dance"The Sylvers,"Dusic"Brick,"Falling"LeBlanc & Carr,"I'm Your Boogie Man" K.C. & The Sunshine Band,"Looks Like We Made It"Barry Manilow.Side 2:"Calling Dr, Love" Kiss,"The Way I Feel Tonight" Bay City Rollers,"Help Is On The Way"Little River Band,"Gone Too Far" England Dan & John Ford Coley,"I Wouldn't Want To Be Like You" Alan Parsons Project,"I'm Dreaming" Jennifer Warnes,"Can't It All Be Love" Randy Edelman,"Save It For A Rainy Day" Stephen Bishop and "Dancing Queen" ABBA.Some of these songs I've never even heard,so this was an interesting find.Do any of the longtime fans on the site remember this?I thought it was an odd coincidence that both Eric and Jennifer Warnes are on this and both are on the "Dirty Dancing" soundtrack. It plays perfectly and has the jacket and everything including an advertisement on the back for a record vacuum.I've never had one of those.Anyway it just goes to show that you never know what you might find.
  12. Yes,that is what I meant. When I said fakeness I didn't mean as people or as artist,I meant that someone like Carrie's voice is better suited for other types of songs with other types of lyrics.
  13. On a recent episode of "That Metal Show" on VH-1 Classic,Eddie Trunk filmed a segment about his musical origins.Raspberries being the first group he really liked, when he was 11 in 1975,a friend introduced him to the music of the Raspberries. He said he loved it and immediately had to hear everything they had recorded but unfortunately found out they had broken up and couldn't see them live.He said that listening to them taught him that pop could rock and about how important melody was.On another episode this past season he had his Raspberries t-shirt on.If you go to his website and read his biography it tells about his love for the Raspberries and how a life long dream was fullfilled when he got to interview them on VH-1 Classic Hangin' with Raspberries and introduce them at one of their reunion shows when he finally got to see them live.He also has "Starting Over" listed as one of his favorite albums on his website.I'm sure most of you know about this but I thought it was really cool.I watch "That Metal Show" everytime there is a new episode. Are there any other fans of the show on this site?
  14. Maybe it works better when rock has a little country in it,instead of when country has rock in it.There are a lot of great rock artist with some country roots but modern country seems to me to be trying to imitate rock music, badly.Take last week at the CMA Music Festival special on ABC.Carrie Underwood was singing "Paradise City" by Guns N Roses,I mean seriously does she think she is going to pull that song off as well as Axl Rose,in the past she also did "Home Sweet Home" by Motley Crue.I forgot that through Louise Mandrell doing a version of "Maybe My Baby" plus their duet of "As Long As We've Got Each Other" that this topic could also include a discussion about Eric and country music. The one difference is I actually liked Louise Mandrell,I had watched her on Barbara Mandrell and The Mandrell Sisters show in the early 80's when I was a kid and she was actually my favorite of the sisters even before her affiliation with Eric.I never felt like she was being fake,I get that fakeness when I watch some of the country artist today.
  15. I just saw that Stevie Nicks will be appearing on "CMT Crossroads" with Lady Antebellum on September 13th at 10eastern/9central.I am looking forward to seeing the show and have enjoyed past episodes, although I am not a big fan of country music. In the past I have seen Pat Benatar with Martina McBride,Heart with Wynonna Judd,John Mellencamp with Kenny Chesney,Bon Jovi with Sugarland and Lindsey Buckingham with Little Big Town among others.I was wondering if others enjoy this series or if you don't like it when rock and country meet, just curious.Personally I love seeing the rock acts but not so much hearing the country singers trying to rock, interested in others opinions.
  16. I watched an incredible documentary last night on VH-1 Classic called "Sound City" if you haven't seen it,you should see it.It was done by Dave Grohl (Nirvana,Foo Fighters) and it tells the story of Sound City Studios and the albums made there on the Neve console.I found it fascinating and was very saddened by how much the recording of music has changed. The documentary features Fleetwood Mac,Kevin Cronin,Neil Giraldo,Tom Petty,Rick Springfield,RATT,Nirvana,Paul McCartney,Lars Ulrich,Neil Young and many others.I wasn't sure if anybody had wrote about the documentary before or not,but if you are a fan of 70's,80's and 90's music it is a must watch.
  17. I absolutely loved the Heart performance,I thought it was the highlight of the entire night.
