Of course, after I wrote that last comment, I saw that Bruce Johnston wrote liner notes. Oops!

Also, did you all note this line?:

MASTERED IMPECCABLY BY JOE REAGOSO AT FRIDAY MUSIC STUDIOS – FROM THE CAPITOL RECORDS TAPES

Hmm... sometimes you hear that the original master tapes have been lost.... Maybe not?

For what it's worth, at the end of Overnight Sensation, you can hear a faint intro to Go All The Way. I've heard the same thing, if I remember correctly, on the same song on The Essentials CD. If it was "Mastered Impeccably", why wouldn't that error be removed? I'd be surprised if he used the Capital Records tapes. The LP still sounds pretty good though.

  2. Just came across this. Friday Music is taking pre-orders for Raspberries Greatest Hits LP in raspberry colored vinyl. Ships on 7/02/19.

The Raspberries' Eric Carmen, Wally Bryson, David Smalley & Jim Bonfanti joined forces in 1970 in Cleveland, Ohio. Almost immediately after the release of their first LP, success followed worldwide thanks to their smash hit #1 "Go All The Way." Blending elements of garage band rock and roll, British invasion alongside the powerful lead vocals of Eric Carmen, this hit single was the catalyst which would soon make them a major recording and touring act.

Throughout the seventies, Raspberries would release some of the most memorable rock and pop songs ever waxed. Wonderful rockers like "I Wanna Be With You" "Tonight" "Party's Over" and power rock ballads like "Let's Pretend" and "Overnight Sensation" flourished all over the airwaves making these all modern day classics.

In the compact disc era, Capitol Records awarded this amazing band with the fantastic collection "Raspberries Greatest Hits" featuring all of their key hit singles noted above and other top charters like "Ecstasy" "Crusin' Music" & "I'm A Rocker."

Other notables joined the band over the years like Scott McCarl and Michael McBride and their work is also represented here with more hit tracks like "Starting Over."

In honor of the legendary Raspberries and their music, Friday Music is very pleased to announce the first time 180 Gram Audiophile Vinyl release of the Capitol Records classic Raspberries Greatest Hits.

Mastered impeccably by Joe Reagoso (The Monkees) at Friday Music Studios from the Capitol Records tapes, the first time audiophile album will be pressed for a very limited time on 180 Gram Raspberry colored vinyl.

To further enhance your Raspberries experience, we are also including a striking first time gatefold cover art presentation, featuring photos of all their original Lp covers, photos of the band, and a new appreciation note from The Beach Boys' Bruce Johnston.

"Go All The Way" and 13 other fantastic tracks....."Raspberries Greatest Hits"....Super Limited Edition Raspberry Colored 180 Gram Audiophile Vinyl.....Stellar Gatefold Cover Art! Available exclusively from your friends at Friday Music.

  3. Anyone notice who played guitar on I Could Really Love You? I smell a Raspberries reunion in the near future! Click on Personnel to the right of the new songs.

BTW - They sound great. I always skipped over Top Down Summer from the Winter Dreams album. I just never liked it that much. I really like the new version.

I just got an email that my "package" has shipped from Greensboro, NC.  I'm not sure if it's my Vinyl Set (the order #'s didn't match), but I'll keep you posted.  Please Mr. Postman, have some Vinyl for me!!

Mine came in the mail today. The return address on the shipping label was some guy with an address in Hillsborough, NC. The packing slip was from 11Spot though. I also received an email a couple of days ago from endicia that an item was shipped. I assumed it must be the Raspberries vinyl but there was no indication of who sent it or what was being shipped. Sheesh! At least we are getting them now. It was packed properly and no seam splits.

Have you received your copy yet? I ordered mine on 11-25 from Omnivore and it still hasn't shipped.

I know you're not asking me but I ordered mine on 11/29/17 and haven't received it either. I sent an email a couple of days ago and this was the response:

We have received your order, but we are waiting on stock to arrive. There was a delay in the manufacturing, and so orders are shipping out later than anticipated. As soon as we have stock here, orders will begin shipping out immediately. Sorry for the wait and inconvenience. Let me know if there is anything I can help with.

The email came from 11spot.com customer service. It appears that they are a 3rd party that is handling Omnivore's orders. Hopefully we will get the LP's soon.

I already ordered mine at full price since this was supposed to be a limited release. My order has not yet shipped so I'm hoping they will honor the 1/2 price sale. The 2 bonus tracks are available as a digital download for $1.99 on Omnivore's site.

You will actually get a small piece of paper in the package that will give you a code to get a free digital download of the entire album. No need to pay for the 2 bonus tracks, if purchasing the LP's.

Ok Bernie. You successfully guilted me into buying this at my "local" record store. :) I made a list of record stores near me and started calling this morning.

Me - "Did you get any Raspberries Pop Art Live LPs for Record Day?"

Them - "No, there wasn't much available for any title this year."

    Next!

    Them - "No, sorry."

    Next!

    Them - "No."

    Next!

    Them - "No."

    Next!

    Them - "No."

    Next!

Them - "Yes, we have 2 of them."

    Next! Wait, what? Success!

After a 30 minute drive each way and paying much more than buying it online, I have it! That's right, I'm cool! I saved the record store with some love and money.:D

    Hey Bernie,

Is that a participation trophy you gave me? I'm not a Millennial! :P

My understanding is that these "Record Store Day" events (and special releases) are meant to support your local record shop, most of which have unfortunately closed for good. So, you should actually pop over and give them some love (and money) or soon they'll all be gone.

According to Omnivore's site, it'll be available "at your local record store" on black Friday.

In my town the record store is conveniently located between Blockbuster and FotoMat.

    Thanks Dave.

Not very fan friendly on the part of Omnivore, especially after originally offering it up for pre-order. I'm not inclined to actually try and find a record store, let alone find one that will have it. I don't need it that bad.

  11. I pre-ordered the Pop Art Live LP's several months ago. I just received an email from SoundStageDirect. Apparently, the record company just notified them that Pop Art Live is not available at this time. They wanted to know if I would like to exchange the title for another, or would I prefer a store credit or refund.

Not a good sign. Anybody know what is going on or if it will ever be released?

I remember when Live on Sunset Strip first came out I was so excited. One of my favorite songs is "Starting Over". It didn't make the cut on the live CD. If I remember, the mixing of the song wasn't great, so I was a little disappointed. Now with "Pop live", I can hear it live. Yay!

Just an FYI - Starting Over [Live] is on The Essential Eric Carmen 2 CD set that came out in 2014.

  13. I purchased the CD's from Amoeba.com. $20.98 plus free shipping and no tax. Cheaper than Amazon after factoring in sales tax and possibly shipping, if you don't have a Prime account. I have bought things from Amoeba before and had no issues. Should be here tomorrow.

I also purchased/pre-ordered the LP's from SoundStageDirect.com. $54.99, however, using code LP20, I got 20% off. Unfortunately, you must spend at least $49.99 for free shipping. A good excuse for buying another Boston Third Stage LP! :-) I have bought a bunch of LP's from them. No issues with them either.

  14. I received the 2016 Geffen CD today from Amazon. It has 2 bonus tracks of I Wanna Hear It From Your Lips. The first one is the Single Remix and is 3:11 in length. The second one is the 12" Version and is 6:04 in length. Amazon only lists this CD as having one bonus track. A bonus on the bonus! :P

If anyone is interested, Amazon is selling all 4 Raspberries CD's in a boxed set for $24.99. Pretty good reviews so far. Remastered on 11/27/15 by Andy Pearce? One reviewer even said they are comparable to the recent Japan remasters. No bonus tracks however.

I received the box set yesterday. The CD's sound great. I don't have the latest Japan releases so I can't compare them to this set. If you need all 4 Raspberries CD's, want to save a bunch of money, and don't mind the missing bonus tracks, get this boxed set instead of the Japan releases.

I just ordered the first album from amazon. No mention of it being Japanese but is listed as an import and has the same song list. Also an Eric Carmen Geffen album reissue seems to be available from amazon for pre-order, shipping April 22. It's also in the "Collector's Choice" catalogue where I first saw it and "preordered" it (they said it was on backorder).

Thanks Linda. I pre-ordered 2 of the Geffen reissues. I only wish I saw the pre-order on Amazon sooner. I just bought the Japan Geffen reissue CD from eBay a few weeks ago and paid twice the price. Oh well. :)

The Geffen reissues sure have brought down the price of the original Geffen CD's on eBay. Last year they were going for around $100 or more. Now some are selling in the $30 range.
