Happy Holidays to you!
Posted December 15, 2008
I have been reading Words That Work by Frank Luntz. It is an awesome book. It is about effective communication.
I met Dr. Luntz last week. He is an incredible speaker! Instead lecturing, he involves his audience, just like he did during the focus sessions during this past election season. Just awesome!

Happy Birthday. Hope you have a great day!

This is my thought, if you want to argue your case, then use facts to back it up, not by using people's thoughts and opinions, or using their blogs.
Where you there at Shanksville when the plan went down? I remember seeing the plane flying upside down. I can still remember the squeal of the sirens and the roar of the fire trucks racing past the campus where I was at that time. That site is not far from my home. I have been to that site. There were just pieces left of the plane, and a large gaping crater.

That is a really neat gift. I love warm fuzzy socks.
One year, I put together baskets using Aveda products. I put hand cream, shampoo, body gel and, and moisturizer in a basket for each of my sisters -in-law. I used to work with Aveda products. Their products smell so good and they are made from plants.
Beth, I love great finds too! I found a really neat pair of shoes a few weeks ago. I am waiting for all this snow to melt so I can finally wear them!

Bump - Time to go shopping for presents!
We usually buy gift certificates from the local restaurants for our relatives. My mother-in-law looks forward to receiving them. She takes her friends with her and they have a lovely lunch together, I think her friends actually look forward to them more than she does.
We also make donations to local charities for those who are hard to buy for. We make a donation in their name. These charities are appreciative of this. My boss does the same thing.
There is really nothing I need or want, but I do have a penchant for chocolate, vacations, Super Bowls and Stanley Cups! So every year he will make a donation to the local food bank in my name.
I also have a favorite charity and at the risk of ruffling some feathers, it is the Ben Roethlisberger Foundation. Since its inception, the foundation has awarded grants to police and fire departments to the cities of their regular away game opponents. Just a few days ago, his foundation awarded a grant to the Boston police department, Last year, his foundation awarded a grant to someplace called Cleveland... for a new K9 dog.
Just a couple of thoughts!

I also love listening to music.
I love sharing a cup of tea with my friends, and I enjoy posting with my few special friends here! Both a rarity these days.
My two songs would be God Bless the USA by Lee Greenwood, and From a Distance by Bette Midler.
What makes me happy...
My garden- I love planting lots and lots of flowers and vegetables, then standing back and watching them ! I feel like I am in paradise.
My little birds- I love my watching my little chickadees, finches, hummingbirds, and my pileated woodpecker.
And of course...I love football!
I spent my day leisurely at home enjoying the day with my daughter! What a rare treat! There are no bargains great enough for me to venture out into those crowds.

Please let your mom know that she is in my thoughts and prayers. Hope she makes a speedy recovery.
She is a true friend.

I wrote a research paper on this very subject last year. Go to the Pew Research Center . You will be amazed!

My opinion is that one family may have a set of values that may be completely different than another family, and who are we to judge?
I think we should honor and respect Barack Obama's request that we leave Sara Palin's family alone.
I think they are working on one right now

I read about Canada's possible upcoming election. I guess tomorrow's meeting between Prime Minister Harper and Stephane Dion will be the deciding factor.
What are your thoughts about PM Stephen Harper?
My thoughts on Sara Palin, I think she is a breath of fresh air. She also has a tad more political experience than Obama. She is used to signing and vetoing bills. Obama's experience is only voting for or against amendments in the Senate.
For me, she sealed the deal.

Yes, eight gold medals!
I am so happy for him! What a wonderful young man who is blessed with a loving family that encourages and supports him.
He and his family are a joy to watch!
I watched him during the Athens 2004 games.
He was incredible then!
Just my opinion,

If I were to "fire" my favorite team, I would adopt the Colts.
They are my second favorite team and this why:
I have the greatest and uppermost admiration for Tony Dungy!
He puts his family first, and he treats his players respect. He doesn't seek the limelight; he is a football player and coach who plays for the love of the game.
Here is a link to an article about Tony Dungy if you would want to read more about this amazing man.
