Good point Tony...however, the lack of Raspberries abilities to sell records is what probably stuck in his thoughts (likely not interested in their label's lack of support; he probably thought more sales would have brought more support not vice versa...) His yardstick seemed to be sales...period. If quality didn't walk hand and hand with sales, its almost as if the quality did not exist in his mind. Jean

Funny how this thread started (as only Tony could)...but how great it is to hear from you, Eric. Your stories are so interesting .. but make it so clear how disturbing the politics of the music business really is. Although Bernie's fabulous "Marathon Man" is a great read, I bet your own memoirs would be fascinating! (all the stories that beg to be told but likely best to keep private..). I know Tony likes to "stir the pot" but I thought this comment sort of crosses a line...I believe Eric would never comment on anything like this even if he hated Clive (not saying he did; don't know and frankly don't care)...Eric is too much of a class act. But I get your point Tony...why Clive didn't thoroughly market such talent is beyond explanation. Jean

I have a large antique lacquered sewing box that I bought in Thailand (from a collector formerly from Hong Kong) and was told it is Chinese. The art on Eric's screen looks very similar. The style looks Chinese (or Taiwanese, perhaps?) to me. I would not know at all if it were Japanese; so this was interesting to me, Naeko. Jean

Bernie, What you have done here is truly incredible and you should be proud of this website. The board seems to come alive when Eric stops by...so any sway you may have to get him interested in interacting with us here again would really bring on the fun again. This is from a newer member who wasn't around when Eric "came out to play" ... but really enjoyed reading the back threads when Eric participated. Eric caring enough to participate (even occasionally) made this site a real standout...and what brought me in. I have never participated in anything like this before, I would like to see this site liven up again. Thanks to LC, Kirk, Marvin and others who bring fun new discussion...and to you, Bernie for your labor of love. Jean

It always fun to see Eric's appearance on GMA.. PJ..just for fun...here is Eric's comment on "Waiting" in the back section of Bernie's "Marathon Man." If you haven't already gotten this on your Kindle, you ought to! Its a great read. Waiting (Eric Carmen) [Raspberries, Raspberries, Capitol SK-11036] It was a pretty nice melody. It may have been the first song I ever wrote. It was originally just an instrumental composed on the piano. I think I wrote the melody when I was twelve. I didn't put lyrics to it until I formed Raspberries. Jean p.s. Waiting is a deep cut fan favorite ... many of us love it.
