  1. MJ...

Happy Happy Happy Birthday to one of the nicest and coolest members off this board that I am thankful to call my friend.

Thank you for your friendship since we met and hung out in New York...you are truely one in a million!

Now continue this day and make it last...keep them coming happy and healthy!

    All my best to you.

    Always.

    Happy Birthday!

  2. The Beatles in their early days from childhood to teens, to putting the band together and paying their dues.

The site has been around for several years but this is the first time I have seen it.

Its loaded with so many historical images, its gonna take lots of time to see and appreciate it all.

You can click on a year or just start from the beginning.

Don't forget to click on each pic for a larger view.

    Have fun!

  3. Though not every issue is available to read, there is much to drool over.

Original ads, charts, reviews, news and everything that made this trade mag so collectable.

Read about our rock and roll history just as it happened.

Example....July 72--- Raspberries enter the charts with "Go All The Way".

The ads are priceless. From what I have browsed so far, every page of every listed date is there.

Obviously the 60's and 70's issues are the prize here, though they go back to the early 50's.

These are not re-prints, these are the real deal.

    Its free.

    Go nuts.

    This link better work!

  4. Terrific thread and its just begun..

1.The Beach Boys-1976 at the old Chicago Stadium. A completely sold out show during their "Endless Summer/15 Big Ones" summer tour. That night, there was more love for the band than I've ever seen.

2.Elvis Presley-May 1977. Again at the Stadium, 8th row dead center and really overwhelming at times.

3.The Raspberries-Chicago reunion tour. The most exciting, electric, fans in a frenzy type show I've ever seen. The band was simply on fire and destroyed the place. Incredibly fun.

4.Paul McCartney- Soldiers Field Chicago 1989.

    Outdoors and spectacular.

5.Bruce Springsteen during the "Magic" Tour. It was special for me cause it was my 1st time seeing him, I'm embarrassed to admit.

  5. Just for the record and according to the credits, Eric didn't write the song.

Sorry guys for bringing up this old un-wanted memory.

Still though, compared to some of the other stuff that was coming out at the time, I've heard worse.

I was talking to a friend of mine and he asked me if I would have bought it if it was recorded by someone other than Eric...the answer of course was no.

Any recording that had Eric's involvement found its way into my house.

    Sorry!

  6. Can you imagine what it would be like...

Letterman sits at his desk, holds a Berries disc and introduces them...

Paul and the rest of his band (including all of us) would simply, go nuts.

Then the guys begin to play and destroy the place!

  7. This is going to be the night of The Raspberries.

You guys deserve this so much and all of us will be cheering you on from every part of the country and the world.

Bless you guys and here's to the future!

    Have a great time!

  8. The Japanese issues do have a cleaner more open sound. Over the years, I've picked up many of the best-of's including the R.P.M's and you're right...they are just okay. The Capitol best of's never sounded good to my ears, very noisey.

"Starting Over"...clean sound and its nice to hear "Starting Over" the song, without the distortion. "Overnight Sensation" is the regular album version minus Wally's play out as heard in the alternate mix. It does include a smaller version of the original fold out poster that I remember quite well hanging on my bedroom wall back at home.

"Side 3"...It explodes right from the start just the way I remember hearing it for the first time on vinyl. It's also bit quieter in spots, noticeable on Eric's 1-2-3-4 intro to "Tonight" (low hiss) and "On The Beach". The inner cd sleeve has the same pics as the original album sleeve had.

"Fresh"..."I Wanna Be With You" is such a classic opening song and it sets the tone for the rest of the disc...the quality is clean and crisp.

"Every Way I Can" sounds terrific.

"Raspberries"..."Waiting" is beautiful. You can imagine how improved "I Can Remember" sounds.

Eric has commented many times he never felt there was much bottom on their records. These 4 imports give a little more.

All come with Japanese/American lyrics and are cased in beautiful cardboard. Its almost as good as holding and staring at the vinyl covers for hours on end.

I believe they are still availiable at Amazon though I got mine locally for about $20 each.

Well worth it and makes the others ready for filing.

By the way..there are no credits to anyone in the prep of these issues and that may make one wonder if any new work was done at all.

The improved sound quality is very noticeable to my ears only because I have most of the other more inferior releases.

Still though...nothing beats Capitol's "Raspberries Best Featuring Eric Carmen"...now that baby rocked!

    Good luck!

  9. There are far worse videos on YouTube than this piece of trash. Look at the guy who posted it and check out his other "exposed" contributions...The Backstreet Boys, Joni Mitchell, Sting and George Harrison among many others. George...? Give me a break!

Its all laughable and The Manson link is so old news already.

This is just so un-important and not worth the time to flag it, since its not going to be taken down. I found it entertaining though in a stupid kind of way because anyone with half a brain wouldn't take it seriously anyway. I did enjoy a laugh though since the guy who produced this must be the one with voices in his head...bad reasoning throughout.

One thing though... "Never Learn Not To Love" (Cease To Exist) (the manson link) is one of the better songs off their 20/20 album.

The song is credited to Dennis Wilson.
