  1. I wish it were the truth, Darlene. I think it was just a marketing ploy. When I called yesterday they said there were a lot of tickets left for Saturday. In fact, even at the Saturday show two years ago they were selling tickets at the door less than an hour before showtime. I want nothing more than a Standing Room Only sellout...both nights! I hope I'm proved wrong!
  2. I am surprised that the activity on this website has come to an almost standstill. I think everyone is afraid to ask some of the inevitable questions: Like what happens if the NY shows don't sell out? Here's my 2 cents: I think continued success will come from pairing up with other "oldies" acts of the seventies. We have a very dedicated "cult" following that probably numbers in the thousands, but as a stand alone attraction, as much as I love the band and the music, the numbers just are never going to be there to do a full fledged tour alone. You need tens of thousands of fans to successfully tour and with no new music in 30 years and only a handful of real hits even then...you need to build the fanbase again. Get on a summer tour with Tommy James, The Turtles, The Rascals, The Buckinghams, Grassroots, The Association, Gary Puckett, Chicago, Kansas, REO...These guys are all still playing year after year. People need to hear your music again and they will buy it once they hear it! The other option is to come up with some new material and make it revelent to today's music buyers. Re-invent yourselves... Change the name of the band, try to come up with a hit single that will appeal to todays generation. We love you guys, we love your music! I'm sensing a big letdown after the two New York shows if they are not a rousing success. But whatever you do don't let it end with a whimper, go out with a bang with a last show in Cleveland and then you can call it a day!
  3. Also are minors allowed in the venue?
  4. Hey LC...nice job. I like looking at numbers like this. Though I didn't hand in my list, my top ten is pretty darn close to the top vote getters listed.
  5. Not to be negative, but if the Raspberries can't sell out a 700 seat theatre in New York City on a Saturday and Sunday night, the "tour" will be very short lived or might just stop right there after Sunday night. So talk it up, buy your tickets, take a friend or make airline reservations because this might just be your last chance to see the band--ever! I know I'll be there.
  6. ...except by the time I got the album, they stopped putting it in the U.S. release! (Don't Stop Me Now is one of my favorite Queen songs of all time!)
  7. C'mon Barb ...if they say there will be a soundcheck, they will do a sound check for the sake of the Meet and Greeter's even if they don't really need one! ...I was pretty disappointed at the Meet and Greet in New York two years ago. At the end of the show you got to wait in line for a quick handshake and a picture, it was kind of like waiting in line to meet Santa Claus at the Mall....this set up sounds a lot better.
  8. So is it really pretty safe to walk the streets and take the subways nowadays on weekends? I know back in the 70's and 80's NYC was a pretty scary place, though I heard it has gotten a lot better.
  9. Is the street festival within walking distance of the show?
  10. Eric Carmen solo material is a must this time. The fans at this site have been a driving force in the whole reunion story. 90% of the attendees at this NYC show would rather hear EC songs instead of Beatles songs...AGREED??????
  11. After the Weekend at Bernies expenses are deducted....LOSS probably accurately reflects the profitability of the venture to date. Now a tour with sales at all the venures will bring it back into the black, so my advice is to get on the road before the thrill wears off!!!!!
  12. Just saw in the paper that Bruce and the E-Street Band will be playing in Philly in October...no opening act was noted, but wouldn't it be nice if our boys could open the show!
  13. Maybe we could all chip in and then split the profits!!!
  14. Here is the greatest and funniest "myth" out there, it really looked like it was on CNN's website: CNN Newsflash! Felatio prevents breast cancer! Study: Fellatio may significantly decrease the risk of breast cancer in women Source: (AP) --Women who perform the act of fellatio and swallow semen on a regular basis, one to two times a week, may reduce their risk of breast cancer by up to 40 percent, a North Carolina State University study found. Doctors had never suspected a link between the act of fellatio and breast cancer, but new research being performed at North Carolina State University is starting to suggest that there could be an important link between the two. In a study of over 15,000 women suspected of having performed regular fellatio and swallowed the ejaculatory fluid, over the past ten years, the researchers found that those actually having performed the act regularly, one to two times a week, had a lower occurance of breast cancer than those who had not. There was no increased risk, however, for those who did not regularly perform. "I think it removes the last shade of doubt that fellatio is actually a healthy act," said Dr. A.J. Kramer of Johns Hopkins School of Medicine, who was not involved in the research. "I am surprised by these findings, but am also excited that the researchers may have discovered a relatively easy way to lower the occurance of breast cancer in women." The University researchers stressed that, though breast cancer is relatively uncommon, any steps taken to reduce the risk would be a wise decision. "Only with regular occurance will your chances be reduced, so I encourage all women out there to make fellatio an important part of their daily routine," said Dr. Helena Shifteer, one of the researchers at the University. "Since the emergence of the research, I try to fellate at least once every other night to reduce my chances." The study is reported in Friday's Journal of Medical Research. In 1991, 43,582 women died of breast cancer, as reported by the National Cancer Institute. Dr. Len Lictepeen, deputy chief medical officer for the American Cancer Society, said women should not overlook or "play down" these findings. "This will hopefully change women's practice and patterns, resulting in a severe drop in the future number of cases," Lictepeen said. Sooner said the research shows no increase in the risk of breast cancer in those who are, for whatever reason, not able to fellate regularly. "There's definitely fertile ground for more research. Many have stepped forward to volunteer for related research now in the planning stages," he said. Almost every woman is, at some point, going to perform the act of fellatio, but it is the frequency at which this event occurs that makes the difference, say researchers. Also key seems to be the protein and enzyme count in the semen, but researchers are again waiting for more test data. The reasearch consisted of two groups, 6,246 women ages 25 to 45 who had performed fellatio and swallowed on a regular basis over the past five to ten years, and 9,728 women who had not or did not swallow. The group of women who had performed and swallowed had a breast cancer rate of 1.9 percent and the group who had not had a breast cancer rate of 10.4 percent. "The findings do suggest that there are other causes for breast cancer besides the absence of regular fellatio," Shafteer said. "It's a cause, not THE cause." Copyright 2003 The Associated Press. 15. Don't forget tonight is the night that Mars will be as large as the moon in the nighttime sky. I got this e-mail from a fairly educated person, researched it and found out that that e-mail has been going around for 5 years (when Mars was closest to Earth, but still no spectacular sight). You never know what to beleive, but to heed Beatle Jay's warning is sound advice....there are Whacko's out there, and in this day and age you can't tell someone what to do or they just might get out of the car and shoot you (gang member or not).
