  1. WOW! She IS very reminiscent of Karen Carpenter whom I adore!! (especailly in the song "Golden"), I'd never heard of her. I thought too, that she sounds a little like a young Olivia Newton-John. Ronda
  2. Muzza, I cannot thank you enough for your kind words. I pray the same for you, that your life will always be blessed! You and Kiwi are just "da bomb"!! As a matter of fact, this is just an exceptional place here at ec.com. I'm so glad I came across it!! Again, thank you!!! Ronda
  3. Are there any "current" bands that Eric likes or listens to?
  4. Muzza, I am not a member of a particular denomination. I started out in the Church of Christ. I loved the church I was in until one Sunday our preacher found it necessary to preach against other religions. I found it disturbing, because I was taught that we should love one another, regardless. When I moved to the small town I'm in now, I found a church I thought I would love. I found out that they would not accept my baptism and I could not be a member of this church without being rebaptized "into their church", and there was a lot of internal conflict. I found it quite sad that the preacher of the church (who is an awesome person, and he was the math teacher at our school, and kids loved him), had been asked by one of his students if he could attend church with him. The preacher told the young man "YES". So the young man walks into the church one Sunday, and several families saw him and got up and left. He was African American. So to make a long story short, I decided that I would teach them here at home. And I continue to do just that. They love it because there is no time limit, there are no restrictions on what we discuss, and I can incorporate what I teach them with what's going on in their lives. They love it, and so do I because I feel like it makes us closer. And I would consider it an honor to baptize them both.
  5. I cannot believe I sat and watched the whole thing! LOL! You could see his future in that headshake, could you not?? LOL
  6. That footage was a little "unclear" but did the guy with the cell phone not hit the dirt at one point? Almost like the shots were outside? I thought maybe the killer was firing from the inside at the officers on the grounds. It was kinda hard to tell. Ronda
  7. Annie, I don't think people know how to watch anymore. It's a crying shame!! Ronda
  8. The Braves/Mets have a long standing "rivalry". And it's fun to watch these games. Too bad it takes some idiot to ruin the fun!
  9. http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=2845669 I think the guy is getting what he deserves. I don't say that because I'm a Braves fan, I'd have felt the same about a "fan" at Turner Field. And with everything that has happened lately, why would anyone pull a stunt like that????
  10. My very first album was from K-Tel, included everything from Gloria Gaynor, to Elton John, to KISS. Even the huge hit DISCO DUCK!! LOL!!! First concert....Marty Robins
  11. paulie, I really like this video! Yeah, I think he put the razor down for about 4-5 days. It actually looks rather good on him. I really like this video too. The harmonies are amazing, especially to be live. Don't know of too many bands/artists that could pull that off! Ronda
  12. Julie, that gave me goosebumps. How awesome!! Ecstasy, you're absolutely right. See, I was baptized when I was 11. At the time I did it because I kind of felt the "pressure" to do it. I wish I'd waited because I felt that my actual "acceptance" came several years later. See, both of my kids want me to baptize them. I told them I would. And just the thought of doing that for my kids surpasses words.
  13. Very well put Kathy!!! A lot of you may have different ideas about this than I do, and I've changed my mind since I was baptized. I used to believe that you could only be saved if you were baptized, but as I've gotten older and try to understand more, I have grown to believe that Salvation comes when you accept Christ as your Lord and Savior. Baptism would be the next step as a symbol of that acceptance. Also I would like to pose this question. Can anyone who is baptized (outside of the clergy) baptize someone else?
  14. http://news.aol.com/topnews/articles/_a/...S00010000000001 I have always been under the belief that we are born into grace, but we may fall from it as we choose our paths in life.
  15. Can you imagine their surprise???? Probably not expecting this "easy target" to fight back!!
  16. hollies65, that is too funny!! I sat and watched that and just about fell off my chair!!!
  17. And to be quite frank, I do not blame the family members for refusing to appear on the Today show when they found out they would be airing this piece. God bless 'em, they've been through enough!! And this would have just been salt in the wound!!
  18. http://news.aol.com/topnews/articles/_a/...S00010000000001 I found this quite intersting.
  19. Today as I scurried through Wally World, trying my dead level best not to lose my head, I heard the faintest sounds of a song on Wally World radio. They were playing "Hungry Eyes". I told my daughter, "this is Eric Carmen". Who actually wrote the lyrics for that song? I really like the it, but there are soooooo many other songs Eric does that top my list.
  20. And when I say "we"....I mean the public in general. I myself am also appaled that he is getting so much publicity.
  21. I agree paulie....if the other stations had received the same package....you better well believe they'd have done the same thing. A little jealousy spurring this on, no doubt. And honestly, we live in such a "need to know" age, and even though we find ourselves appauled, "we" also find ourselves wanting to watch. So DID NBC do the right thing? Sure they did. If they didn't, someone else would have "leaked" it and it would have been everywhere anyway!!
  22. It would be wonderful if with one fell swoop, we could make a radical change. But I feel that it has gotten so far out of hand it would take another 20 years to correct it. Kathy Lee, I agree with you 100% on the socialization thing. Never quite thought about it like that. You are correct about the few teachers who DO care and are trying. There are so few of those left now. I also think that schools have become too much of a pressure tank for students...pressure to perform perfectly on mandatory tests, and to cram their heads so full so fast.....My thinking is that if there isn't a solid foundation before you build the house it will eventually crumble!! You could pass every state mandated test they throw at you, but if you can't spell well enough to even fill out a job application........What then???
  23. Dan, that was incredible!!! "Can it be that some children just scare the living hell out of their parents?" ColoradoGal.....You hit the nail on the head there. Ronda
  24. Letterman all the way! I'm not a big fan of Leno either. Have you ever noticed how he will over talk his guests?? He butts in way too often, and I lose interest. Just my take! Ronda
  25. HT, it's very scarey the things kids will do for a "quick high" nowadays! Thanks for making us aware of this newest "game". God bless our children Ronda
