  1. I have been watching the show "The One". One of the music critics is Mark Hudson. Is this the same Mark Hudson talked about in this thread? Mark Hudson Bio
  2. Katherine can definitely sing, but last night she was not good. On her 3rd song, I was wondering if Randy Jackson and I heard the same thing. He said the song wasn't good, but she sang it well. In my opinion the song wasn't that great, but neither was her singing. And finally, I agree with Bernie - How are they going to market Taylor???
  3. I didn't like the songs Clive Davis picked, but the judges picks were right on the money. Katherine's "Somewhere Over the Rainbow" was great and that was the best she has sounded this season. I like Elliott's voice, but it was not his best night. He is definitely going home and I think Taylor will win next week. Eric: What songs would you have picked for the final 3 to sing?
  4. I have been reading this thread with interest since I am a fan of the show. Eric's assessment of Katherine was on the money. She's got the voice, but there is something about her persona that bugs me. At this point, I would like for Elliott to win. And finally, I'd like to know what songs Clive Davis chose for the final 3 to sing.
  5. I really enjoyed... My Sister's Keeper - Jodi Picoult The Kite Runner - Khaled Hosseini The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time - Mark Haddon My all time favorite is: I Know This Much is True by Wally Lamb I am currently reading A Girl Named Zippy by Haven Kimmel. Parts of it are laugh-out-loud funny! I did read and like A Million Little Pieces , but that was before James Frey came clean that he embellished a lot of the story.
  6. The Mayor of Milwaukee has declared today "Rick Springfield Day" in Milwaukee. Tonight he starts a 5 night run in the Northern Lights Theater at Potawatomi Casino in Milwaukee. Here is a link where you can see a video of the local news story: Rick Springfield Day And remember, when you are out and about today, "Don't Talk to Strangers"!
  7. Tim, I don't know where you live in Wisconsin, but Paul's band, Tequila Sunrise, is playing May 6th in Wautoma. That's about 2 hours northwest of Milwaukee. It's a great show and definitely worth the drive! bobberann
  8. I have listened to "Tonight I Want to Cry" many times and never gave a thought about that lyric relating to Eric's song. It's a cool observation! As an aside, Mrs. C and I saw Keith Urban last night in Chicago. This was our 3rd Keith Urban concert since September and I can honestly say we haven't been disappointed once. Richard Marx co-wrote his song "Better Life" and came out to do this song with Keith as an encore. If you like his music, I strongly suggest you see him in concert. You will be highly entertained!
  9. And...how many states, besides Wisconsin, can claim the polka as their State Dance???
  10. Fellow Wisconsinites - How could you forget about Summerfest: The World's Largest Music Festival? http://www.summerfest.com Or how about Wisconsin being the home of Les Paul, the BoDeans, Liberace, the Violent Femmes, and Tom Wopat (Luke Duke)?
  11. From reading previous posts, I think some of you are Springsteen fans. I was just over at Amazon.com and the front page has a video of "Born to Run" from 1975. I will say that I think Bruce looks a lot better now then he did in 1975!
  12. The butter burgers you had in Wisconsin must have been from Culver's. Did you have any of the custard? I propose that the band comes back to Wisconsin so more butter burgers can be eaten!
  13. I saw Rick perform about 6 years ago after a minor league hockey game in Milwaukee. As a previous poster said, he gives 100%. It was a great concert and the fans loved him. He was all over the place, even sliding across the ice! He was also at the Taste of Summer festival in Waukesha, WI, this past summer, as were the Raspberries. If I remember correctly, I think Rick brought in the largest crowd of all the performers there.
  14. I just want to put my 2 cents in about Al. I ordered the Boxer CD and my order was mixed up by PayPal. Al was great in getting everything straightened out and getting the CD to me. Al - I heard you met KC, my brother-in-law, in Atlantic City. I made sure to tell him to say "hi" to you for me! By the way, the Boxer CD, featuring Jim and Paul, is filled with 10 fun and catchy tunes. Great for the car when you are driving and want to sing along!
