It's been awful here, too. My hubby (college prof) and our 2 kids (college students) are headed for Ft. Myers on Sunday for Spring Break! I'm staying home with our sweet little old dog who's going blind (any time now) and I can't bear to imagine leaving her in someone else's care.... We'll be fine... No regrets.

No prom for me either
My boyfriend at the time was a drummer in a band. They had quite a few after prom party gigs. We had lots of fun and I've never regretted not going to the prom!

I agree with Phil. My husband is a college professor and both of our children are college students. What happened at NIU yesterday really hit home with me. I pray for my family's safety every day they are on their college campuses. Last year my husband was involved in terminating the enrollment of a couple of students (I won't go into the details). Do I worry about retaliation for his part in this? You bet I do! People who are impulsive, irresponsible, dishonest, etc. should not be gun owners. Their anger and inability to understand consequences for their poor choices may end in another tragedy, as we've seen so often recently. That's just my opinion. Thanks, Phil, for your passionate post.

It's the truth -- I swear. And... I only got in trouble once for walking through the room and blocking the TV when something crucial (like a fumble or something) happened...
You'd have thought I shut the TV off !!

Muzza, the game was "on" -- my husband was watching, and he let me know when the half-time show started... so there!!

... but I did watch Tom Petty!!

Kathy Lee, This is wonderful news for Jessi and your family! I'm so happy for all of you! You will continue to be in my prayers as you march onward with your next mission. Just remember, you will be no good to anyone if you dont' take care of yourself. Prayers, too, for your health and strength! You are a remarkable woman and I admire you for all you've done! God Bless your "angels", too!

hopin' you'll find out on your own,
it's me who's loved you for so long." -
Muzza, my dear friend, the power of prayer is so very powerful. I'm here to tell you that. My Dad was diagnosed with cancer in July -- has had treatments and is now almost cancer-free. A prayer group at my church prays for him every week. These people don't know him (he live in another state) but it humbles me so much to know that they care so much for him that they will lift him up in prayer to our Heavenly Father every week and ask for healing for him. I am so grateful to these people and to God that he has received the healing asked for. This is the "biggie" for him -- he has other issues to deal with, but this is huge for us. I will pray for your patient's healing and believe that God's Will will be done. You also, are always in my prayers to do the work that God has called you to do. You are a blessing! Linda

In September "Family Circle" magazine, health section:
"doctors' best remedies, easy at-home cures for common ailments...
COMMON COLD
SIMPLE SOLUTION: Try using a chest rub. A balm that's made from eucalyptus and/or mint (you can find one at your local drugstore) will ease congestion and can help break down phlegm in the nose and chest. Apply 2 to 3 teaspoons to the chest up to three times a day."
Good luck and I hope you feel better soon!

MAM's post 8/1/07 -- "The sound is impressive, but for this engineers/producers ears, Jennifer's a little too hot in the mix."
MAM, I hesitated to say that, but I feel the same way. When I listened to the Don Hurley show, I told my husband, if that's the sound they're going for, that's great -- but all I'm hearing is Jennifer Lee. She's great, don't get me wrong, but there is certainly alot of her on most of the songs.

Happy Birthday Eric!

Brian Mac, I'm still livid that I couldn't buy the d*** thing an hour outside of Chicago today! Un-freakin-believable! What's going on here! I had to buy the 13-song CD on iTunes....
