I saw some folk band (2 guys and a girl, all on acoustic guitar) open for Kiss in Mobile, AL in 1976. They put up a good fight for about 10 mintues, dodging all of the crap that was being thrown at them. Thankfully they gave up and left the stage. I saw Graham Parker open for Thin Lizzy. Poor Graham got a less than warm reception. Would have loved to have been at the Thin Lizzy/Queen show though.

Any Circus magazines? I remember a couple of good articles in there back in the day.

Well, I know both songs very well (I bought "Back to the Drawing Board" when it came out), and I have a 10 year old daughter. And if I was on the jury, I'd vote for Avril. If she loses, then Mick and Keith outta file suit against the Rubinoos.

Where did Paul Revere and the Raiders fall into the British Invasion category? I thought Paul Revere (the original one) had a little siver shop in Boston.

Never much cared for Elvis. I always thought Chuck Berry was "the king."

I've seen Springsteen and the E Street Band at least 20 times over the past 32 years and they've never had an opening band. Can't imagine they'll have one this time around either. If they do though, the Raspberries would be a nice fit.

Marc: I agree with you...$125 was very pricey for what was in the package. The CD audio was incredible, and the video of the show was great. But for the most part, the extra video was kind of disappointing. I was really hoping to see a lot of rehearsal video - watching them work out the old songs, etc..., and there wasn't much. The "behind the curtain", and IWBWY from Cleveland was cool. But I really wanted a DVD of the entire show and since this was the only way to get it....

How about Eric holding his finger to his lips going "shhhhhh" while they waited behind the curtain while the video played. I was on the other side of the curtain and I remember the building excitement.

"...a stroll across Lake Michigan..." you can't just leave us hanging with that...

I'd like to know how many Ryko shipped, because I haven't seen it at any retail outlet around here. Best Buy, Borders, Barnes & Noble, etc... don't have it.

There are two good spots in Philadelphia. First is the TLA on South Street. I've seen Cheap Trick, Wallflowers, Steve Earle, Graham Parker, etc... there. The second is The World Cafe Life. It reminds me a lot of BB Kings. It's tied with WXPN. The Knack just put out a Live DVD from the World Cafe. I think you'd sell out either place.

Sorry, but I don't miss vinyl at all. I hated the clicks and pops of vinyl, the inconvenience of having to pick up the needle to move it from song to song, having to flip the record after 4 or 5 songs. The CD is just so much more convenient to use, and the sound is much cleaner. I know there are many who feel there is a warmth to the sound on vinyl...but I never could hear it. I do miss some of the great artwork and photos on covers, and being able to read the liner notes with out a magnifying glass.

Tony, I hope there's a happy ending to all of this for you. I'd also like a second edition of the book...considering I missed out on the first edition.

First Raspberries album was Starting Over. Read a review that compared it to the Beach Boys and the Who...ran out and bought it. To be honest, I had never heard of them before that. I then bought the remaining albums in reverse order. Starting Over is still my favorite, followed by Side 3, Fresh, and finally the first LP.
