  1. Oh, I forgot the best Christmas song ever recorded: The Little Stinkers version of "I Farted on Santa's Lap (Now Christmas is Going to Stink for Me)." A true classic. Still available on itunes.
  2. We have a bunch of Christmas CDs, and to be honest, I only like a handful of songs. Springsteen's Santa Claus is Coming to Town, Bryan Adams' Run Run Rudolph, and the Ramones' Merry Christmas (I Don't Wanna Fight Tonight). One CD I love is called something like a Live Christmas Extravaganza. It was a benefit show at the Stone Pony from maybe 10 or 15 years ago, headed up by Glenn Burtnick. It's got Marshall Crenshaw, Willie Nile, Lenny Kaye, and a bunch of other people that I can't remember. That gets played a lot every year. Regarding Raspberries doing a holiday song, how about covering Big Star's "Jesus Christ"?
  3. I got the book yesterday. I have to agree with most of their Top 10 choices. Definitely "Starting Over", Badfinger's "Wish You Were Here", and Tommy Keene's "Songs From the Film" should be in there. Speaking of Tommy Keene, he said on his message board that he was at the Raspberries show in Anaheim, and he said they were "awesome."
  4. Any time Tommy Keene's name is mentioned my ears perk up. What is Shake Some Action (besides the classic tune, so perfectly covered by TK himself)?
  5. I think Razor and Tie Records released the Willie Nile albums on CD.
  6. Bram Tchaikovsky - Girl of My Dreams The Jags - Back of My Hand The Vapors - Turning Japanese Fastball - The Way
  7. Well, while Mary Ann, Samantha Stevens, and Geenie were all pretty hot, my first crushes were Susan Cowsill and Eve Plumb.
  8. 60%. And most of them were guesses.
  9. This has nothing to do with 12 string guitars, but I saw the Searchers in 1983 at the Chestnut Cabaret in Philly and it was one of the absolute best shows ever. There couldn't have been more than 75 people there and you would have thought they were playing in front of 10,000. They played two completely different hour + long sets with lots of good stories in between. And they played a lot of songs from their two outstanding Sire albums from 1980 and 1981. I just thought I'd throw that in.
  10. Since I really didn't follow much top 40 stuff during the 90's, I'll mix in some of my favorite album tracks. Tommy Keene - Compromise Ginblossoms - Follow You Down Marshall Crenshaw - Fantastic Planet of Love Bruce Springsteen - Human Touch The Figgs - Favorite Shirt Cheap Trick - Say Goodbye Jason & the Scorchers - Self Sabatage Steve Earle - Hard Core Troubadour Posies - Dream All Day The Knack - No Matter What
  11. I thought of a million album tracks, but I narrowed it down to top 40 songs (although I don't think Surrender ever made the top 40). Baby Blue - Badfinger Surrender - Cheap Trick Glory Bound - The Grass Roots GATW - Raspberries I Need to Know - Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers Brown Sugar - Rolling Stones Born to Run - Bruce Springsteen Just What I Needed - The Cars Won't Get Fooled Again - The Who My Sharona - The Knack
  12. I saw another post about a new 20 song power pop compilation containing Overnight Sensation. I thought I'd put together my own 20 song Power Pop CD. I tried not to pick the obvious, but in some cases there was no choice. So here you go: Badfinger – Just a Chance Raspberries – Tonight (Live) Big Star – September Gurls Cheap Trick – Say Goodbye The A’s – Girl that I Love Dwight Twilley – Alone in My Room Paul Collins Beat – All Over the World The Figgs – The Trench Plimsouls – Oldest Story in the World 20/20 – Remember the Lightning Knack – Oh Tara or Can I Borrow a Kiss Shoes – I Don’t Wanna Hear It (Live) John Eddie – Please Jodi Tommy Keene – High Wire Days Posies – Dream All Day Gin Blossoms – Follow You Down Bram Tchaikovsky – Girl of my Dreams Smithereens – Behind a Wall of Sleep Smash Palace – Sooner or Later Pezband – Love Goes Underground
  13. ...ummm....uhhh.....hmmmmmm.................. Asking that question to me is like asking me to list my five favorite root canals.
  14. It was great to hear "All By Myself" at the show Saturday night. I'm curious about the dynamic behind the decision to add solo material to the show. Is there any consideration of any additional solo material being added to the setlist - either Wally's, Dave's or yours? (I guess "It's Cold Outside" could be considered a solo song as well). Thanks. Oh, more importantly, I would really hate to see this series go back to Boston. Let's hope they end before midnight.
  15. If I was Eric, my only regret would be that they didn't insert "I Can Hardly Believe You're Mine" into Saturday's set list.
  16. My votes: Madonna - an unenthusiastic yes Beastie Boys - no Chic - no Leonard Cohen - no DC5 - yes! Mellencamp - yes Donna Summer - no Afrika - no Missing: Kiss Alice Cooper Turtles Hollies Raspberries Badfinger and a bunch more....
  17. Missing: I Can Hardly Believe You're Mine
  18. Tonight Substitute (I'm usually not a big fan of covers, but this one was incredible) I Don't Know What I Want Nobody Knows I Wanna Be With You
  19. Just wondering if there will be any additions or changes to the setlist in NYC. Personally I'd love to hear "I Can Hardly Believe You're Mine", "Might As Well", and "Cruisin' Music."
  20. I prefer a small club to any of the bigger places. I thought the HOB in Cleveland was great. It had great sound, and plenty of room for standing in front of the stage. I really didn't like the tables in front of the stage at BB Kings. What a waste of space. Favorites: TLA - Philly (old theater with no seats) Troc - Philly (old burlesque house - Marshall Crenshaw called it "a swell dump." The Art Museum - DC (it was a great place) 9:30 Club - DC (just feels like rock n roll) Big Mans - Red Bank (I know it closed years ago, but it was a great place to see a show) and finally... The Empire Rock Room in N.E. Philly. Another sweaty rock and roll bar.
  21. ...or adding a few songs from their own library, such as "I Can Hardly Believe You're Mine" or "Might As Well"? If they do, let's hope it's on Saturday night since I can't make the Sunday show.
  22. Overnight Sensation I Don't Know What I Want Play On Tonight Go All the Way I Can Hardly Believe You're Mine Ecstacy I Wanna Be With You Nobody Knows Cry I loved Scott's voice. His version of Nobody Knows is outstanding.
  23. Lost a lot of respect when I heard they ripped off a lot of their songs without giving credit to the real songwriters. Dazed and Confused was a direct rip.
