Don, this again is incredible stuff. I was a college freshman when a guy at the dorm came running in with the Rolling Stone review. It was really a final OK, that Raspberries were indeed the coolest guys in the studio (Lennon loved 'em) and probably on the road, though I never saw Eric till 76. Thanks for this great update, will share with others back here in MN! I think that the 10/6 will be a must see. He is all CLASS!

Eric, when we heard "I'm A Rocker" at Waukesha it was amazing. The vocals and guitar grooves were highlights. Hot weather and, without a doubt, a rocking 65 minute set. A question that might not be asked often, how do Raspberries finalize a set list?

Don, thanks for the links. It is hard to believe it was released 31+ years ago. Times have changed in the industry, but I think most of the time they still get it right.

The show here at the Myth Night Club, Maplewood MN, was outstanding. They are the real deal, pumping out a new CD every 3 years or so. Staying on the road is the main thing. Differences with Tommy P were put away nearly 20 years ago, pre Lap of Luxary. Nielson simply poured a pitcher of beer on his lap and "requested" his re-joining the band. Eric did his tour of Japan in '82 with Tom as I recall. Rockford songs can be heard on the CT web site.

Marvin (Tony), wouldn't it be cool to witness Born To Love You, mid-set? Can't start the show with it, but I would bet that there would be a real good fit later on. Winter Dreams got Eric back in the game. All great songs, as usual.

Early, as part of the divorce settlement, she kept all of the Fogelberg records and CD's. I was able to keep the Carmen stuff. I've never looked back.

Brian, it is under Play On. Have not been able to go through all of the comments, other than to be very pleased of the McCarl kudos that are now popping up. Also, thanks Don for the cool links! It sounds like there might be a bit of a calling for Scott, even for a couple of songs, on 10/6. In retrospect, it was probably wise that he sat out the '05 tour.

Having been at the 98 show, I would agree with the assessments previously provided. Bernie, when we drove to Cleveland we thought it would be Eric performing. McCarl was indeed cool and the real highlight of the (three??) shows. I think Brian's thoughts are accurate in terms of what made the Starting Over LP a classic. Since it is a Sunday evening I will refrain from any further observations regarding Mr. McCarl and his lack of participation in the '05 project. EC did clarify a few weeks back, so I guess it wasn't meant to be.

And Don, we will never forget the Rolling Stone review in October of 74. Finally validity by the critics. Those were tough years but Raspberries were definitely the coolest guys out on the road (and studio). I will see if I can get my hands on the books that you are citing. Thanks!

Congratulations to EC, Bernie, Kathy, Ken Sharp, Don Krider and all of the folks who have made the 1,000,000 happen. Michelle should also get special mention. Can't wait until the 10/6 show.
Eric, keep on as your journey in rock history will continue to evolve. Your place is already firm, but there are expectations for the next step. You have never disappointed us in the past. And you will never will.

I think that if the Choir wanted to perform with Mr. Carmen, there would have been several Raspberries dates this summer. I'm not too sure about the encore... Don, help us out on this issue?

That is great, I totally did not realize the level of communication with Scott during the '05 tour. My comment about loyalty was specific, regarding who finished the Starting Over tour. We've been loyal listeners since '72. If I had lived in Cleveland, it would have been a few years earlier. Your clarification of this matter is greatly appreciated.

Yes, Waukesha. I also saw the posting. I agree with the Summerfest remark. What a poorly run event last summer. I guess if most of us were so inept at our jobs we wouldn't have the coin for high speed internet conncetions. Yes, the Box Tops, Raspberries and Bowling For Soup show was extremely cool! I do not want to repeat earlier dialogue on this subject, other than the total class of Mr. Carmen with the performance and autographs after the great show. Carmen is a total gentleman.

Thanks Early for your kind words. It is tough to get someone on the ec site to be in agreement, so that is cool. If history serves me correctly, Mr. McCarl didn't "jump ship" during the Starting Over tour. I believe Mr. McBride also remained for the conclusion of Raspberries contractual agreement(s). McCarl would have been a real asset, if asked, to be part of the '05 Raspberries road crew. Loyalty should have some place in the line-up, especially when Eric has had some difficulty in that respect.

Dean, I agree with your assessment fully. While the Scott version on vinyl, CD, etc., are tremendous, Play On without Scott, has lived on in the shows that I have seen. I do think Mr. McCarl's presence in the "current" band would be extremely cool. I think the guy can still sing, he sure did back in '98.

Eric, Raspberries had very high praise last night from a band that shared the "Waukesha Moment," Bowling For Soup. I took my daughter to the show last night at Winona State University (Minnesota) and she was able to get the autographs from the guys. Not nearly what a Raspberries show would be, but what the heck, young guys trying to make it. When talking with the band about the Waukesha show they were really in high praise of your show (before the rain). Great guys, very respectful of rock's history.

Considering the vast history of your songs, would it be fair to single out the one song that 'felt' the niche as described? I had singled out I Was Born To Love You some weeks ago as the standard to follow All By Myself.

Thanks Eric! The 'urban legand' around Mr. Ham's apperance in Raspberries is put to rest. I did see a show called Badfinger with Evans and Gibbins in '82 here in Saint Paul, I would believe your assessment of Mr. Evans would also be appropriate for that show as well.

The Molland thing is intersting, however there should never be any further 'Badfinger' shows as Peter Ham was the creative force behind the success (and ultimate death). Now, if Molland wants to run around with the Badfinger name, I guess that might be alright as long as there is a bit of "educating" amongst the younger folks about the history. His stuff, which has been brought out in a few documentaries, was more of the "jammin band" that might have took away from Mr. Ham's legacy (and subsequent sales).
When Eric and some folks talk about at the "what age were the greatest works" issue, Mr. Ham took his own life at the age of 27. He finally understood all of the money had been stolen, despite the gold records that he had garnered.
Eric, I know from Marathon Man the shows with Badfinger and Mr. Ham were not what you had anticiapted. However, was/had Peter been asked to be part of Raspberries?

Mr. Carmen, I don't think that the exactness of your statements were articulated in Marathon Man. My thanks for your continued efforts to make it all right. Being part of the culture you spoke of as a child, it would make everything else that has played (or will be played) out, that much more easier for your fans to understand, Thank you again for everything you have touched in your brillient career!

I am in full agreement with Tony's thoughts and perspective on this situation as posted. Again, I am hoping that this is not a Go All The Way writing (or lack of) credit from 35 years ago. As Don would know, I am a bit skeptical about the future, but do agree with Tony's thoughts on this from a pure "ownership" level. I think Eric has conveyed his desire for Raspberries to keep moving ahead, despite some well documented obstacles. I think a Raspberries show, soon, anywhere, might be the answer as indicated in a previous post.

The ENDLESSWIRE CD is fantastic. Got it for under $10 at Best Buy, included a bonus live CD from the current tour and DVD. I am anticipating a great performance here in Saint Paul on December 8th at the Xcel Center. I think to get Rod the Mod back in the fold, much $$'s will be needed.
