  1. Trindy, you are right. Someone should apologize for the way the Raspberries most devoted fans have been treated. If the person in charge of this worked for my company, they would be fired. You dont take money up front and then not deliver by the release date. And this is still America. You have the right to say whatever you want. I go to the polls every November to fight for these rights. Power to the People, baby!

  2. Im expecting to have the review re-edited tonight. I actually went to a web site and lifted Jim's name as I had left the cd in my car! No offense was meant! I didnt expect the review to go up so soon as it did. But was excited to for myself! Didnt mean to spoil anything. And damn it. I cant find any of the Harry Potter spoilers on line. Can anyone help? I will be reading the book this weekend!

What a blast Pat and Jim had this past Sunday with two great bands making some noise on the local scene. They first welcomed Drenalin into the K-Rock Komplex to debut tracks from their forthcoming incredible self titled CD and play 2 great live tunes. You can catch their CD release party this Saturday June 21st at the House of Blues, both Pat and Jim will be in attendance. The guys also welcomed a transplanted L.A. band that now calls Cleveland home. Nimbus whose new CD Unending Dream, in stores now, blew both of the guys away. Catch Nimbus this Thursday at the Hi-Fi and say hi to both Pat and Jim at the show. Also this Saturday down in Akron you can catch a dual CD release party with Tracey Thomas and Ryan Humbert at the Tangier.

Inner Sanctum airs Sunday Night at 10pm on 92.3 fm. Join your host Pat 'the Producer' and Jim Benson for two full hours of great home grown talent!! Bands interested in having their material aired should send it to:

  4. I got the privilege to review Live on the Sunset Strip for the upcoming issue of Jersey Beat Magazine. Listening to the release is stunning! It's really good. Sort of surprised that no Beatles covers were included and the 5 song dvd bonus dic could've had more included. But otherwise, it is an A+ solid release. Best live album I heard in years if not ever! The biggest surprise is the gushy cd booklet intro from Bruce Springsteen. What a classy guy the boss surely is to put Raspberries on such a high pedistal. But, we all know he got it right!

    Jim Benson

  5. 2004 & 2005 were absolutely great years for me! I got to see the Raspberries! And now 2006 is following that same trend. I returned to commercial radio after almost a decade. And this Sunday night, I plan to fit in EC's 'Top Down Summer' between some other local power pop tracks

including one from the Jellybricks and another from Love Affair's Rich Spina. Im sure Cleveland Fans will remember Rich! Clevelanders can tune in 9-10pm 92.3 FM for the Inner Sanctum show on the new k-rock!

  6. I have the reunion concert on cassette. It was broadcast live over WNCX-FM here in Cleveland. They did two sold out shows to celebrate the birthday of the Cleveland Agora where they had played a lot.

  7. June,

Posting the question would violate the rules of not attacking an individual. You might know that I was involved in the Cleveland Music Scene for many years. During that time, I came in contact with someone that I wished I never had. Eric had his own dealings with this person too. My question was a statement about this person and then asking if Eric agreed. I did it more to make Eric laugh than expecting a response. I hope this will satisfy everyone.

    Jim

  8. I got a confirmation email today saying my question is being forwarded to Eric. IO'd like to know if this is an automated message or did Bernie actually read my question and sent it on? Im 100% sure Eric will not answer it, but will probably laugh out loud!!!! In any case, Thanks Bernie!

    Jim

  9. The Lorain Carnegie Bridge was renamed Hope Memorial Bridge a few years ago. It is located near Jacobs Baseball Field. The Garfield Tomb is an impressive monument. It is all gilded with a beautiful statue on the main floor. The casket is still on display in the lower cyrpt. His Civil War flags are also down there. The Cemetary is only a few minutes drive from University Circle. Elliott Ness is buried there too and the Chapel was designed by Tiffany of NYC. You might get the idea that I am a history nut along with my love of music!

  10. After reading all these posts about Cleveland, I wish this show would have happened in late May. I have traveled all over the USA and Cleveland is just as good as any other major city. Every city has there good and bad sides. Cleveland during the day is far more interesting than at night on a holiday weekend.

Here's a few things that werent pointed out to the visitor. The HOB is just a stones throw away from where the term RockNRoll was coined. The Terminal tower was the second largest building in the world when it opened. John D Rockefeller lived at East 40th and Euclid just down the street from the HOB. The world class art museum is still free and is one of the five best in America. Civil War General and President James Garfield is buried in a gorgeous tomb. A must see in the summer with a beautiful view of the city from its third floor balcony. Also, Lucy is on display at the Natural History Museum. ( A Very important link in the line of evolution).

Downtown Cleveland on a Holiday weekend mustve been deserted. Euclid Ave is about to have a public transpostation corridor built all the way down to the University Circle area. Unlike NYC where parking our band van cost over $40, Cleveland is tremendously less expensive. I will admit that out of towners have to pay higher near their hotels for lack of knowledge.

But most importantly, Cleveland is the home of the Raspberries! NIN, O Jays , Pere Ubu, Levert, and Daddy Dewdrops!!!!!!! Now eat your hearts out!

  11. Music has been such an important part of my life. From being a college DJ doing local music for twenty years to Being elected President of the Cleveland Music Group for three terms. My sister was as huge a fan of the Raspberries as I was in the seventies. But she was three years older than me and didn't want her younger brother tagging along with her to a show, or anywhere for that matter! So, I never got to see them live back in the day. Knowing a lot of the infighting that went on, A reunion never seemed possible. As the video program said "I was Wrong!" Now that I have had some time to think, If the Raspberries can put aside their grievances, just maybe, there's a chance that could happen elsewhere in the world. One can only hope. Since the band acknowledged how influential the fan base is, it's time to start harping for a new original release. Im lighting the candle for a double LP!!! Thanks guys for restoring hope back into my vocabulary.
