  2. FYI - Butch Walker is appearing at the Stone Pony in Asbury Park on August 14th.
  3. If you want to hear really good new country singer/songwriters, check out people like Hayes Carll, Duane Jarvis, Kim Richey, Steve Earle, Joe Ely, the Bottle Rockets ... I could go on and on. There's no dearth of good songwriting; just a lack of a forum to present them to a large audience.
  4. One great musical moment that sticks out for me was the Southside Johnny & the Asbury Jukes New Years Eve show of 1977. A great show that turned it up several notches when Springsteen came out at the strole of midnight and played the remainder of the set with the Jukes along with Robert Gordon. The show ended at 1:00am and as people were shuffling out, a roadie ran onstage and said "Get the people back in here, Springsteen wants to play". Springsteen came out and played with the Jukes for another hour or so. Absolutely the most mind-blowing set I had ever seen.
  5. kinda got off-track here, but I think a lot of us on the board would like to know if Eric is planning to go ahead with that solo concert, so I'm bumping this one to the top.
  6. Hey Eric: Whatever happened to your plans to play a solo concert in Cleveland? If I recall correctly, the date you had secured was grabbed by Barbra Streisand. Is the solo concert still something you're considering? Thanks Rich
  7. Eric Carmen - That's Rock N Roll The Who - Long Live Rock
  8. Just listened to the new cd from Jordan Zevon (son of Warren Zevon). Lots of Beatlesque pop touches. Fountains of Wayne and Elvis Costello are also influences on this pop disc. Folks here should check it out.
  9. Alfie Promises Promises What The World Needs Now

  11. Hollies65: The Smithereens are touring. I've seen them several times over the last 2 years and have tickets for the April 18th show. Here's their current itinerary: Fri 04/18/08 Sellersville, PA Sellersville Theater 1894 Sat 06/07/08 Elmer, NJ Appel Farm Arts & Music Center Sat 06/14/08 Alexandria, VA Oronoco Bay Park Sat 07/05/08 Hoffman Estates, IL TBA Sat 11/29/08 Chicago, IL Beverly Arts Center They still sound great; although you might not recognize the lead singer. He's gained an enormous amount of weight. Rich
  12. I've got 2 Keeshonds: Tramp, a grey and tan 7 yr. old Male and Kacey, a grey and tan 5 yr. old Female. They're great watch dogs and are very friendly and personable. Kacey has been trained as a therapy dog and visits hospitals and senior citizen homes. Rich
  13. Hollies65: I agree. I am a huge Style Council fan. I know hardcore Weller fans like to dismiss them, but I always thought the material he wrote during that period can stand alongside his best rock stuff. Nice to know I'm not alone. Rich
  14. JohnO: Have you seen Weller live in any of his incarnations - Jam, Style Council, solo? I saw him with the Jam back in the late '70's at the Capitol Theatre in Passaic, NJ. They tore the roof off the place. I also saw Paul Weller solo in Philadelphia and he is still an amazing performer. If you get a chance to see him on one of his rare appearances in the US, it's well worth it. Rich
  15. Phil: I'm a long-time fan of Richard Thompson. I've seen him more than a dozen times over the years. A great guitar player as well as songwriter. I've never left a concert of his disappointed. He and Tim Finn(Split Enz/Crowded House) wrote the song "Persuasion". If you haven't heard that one, you really should. Rich
  16. Bernie: If not for you, the Eric and the Raspberries might never have known of the rabid, loyal fans that have been carrying their torch for over 30 years. The reunion concerts, the opportunity to meet these extraordinary men and musicians were all the direct results of your untiring efforts here at EC.com. I'm sure none of us can imagine the hours of work and dedication it takes to keep this site going. These may be only words, but please believe they are from the heart. Thank you so much, Bernie, for all that you do. The least we can do is pay you back with a little loyalty. God bless Rich
  17. JohnO Didn't mean for you to take the heat on this one. I have been to several James Taylor concerts. In both cases, I was with someone who was a big fan. I thoroughly enjoy Taylor's songwriting, but the times that I've seen him, he was so laid-back, and the music was all pretty much the same tempo, I nodded off both times. I can't say I saw much evidence of this dry, witty banter either. But to each his own. Rich
  18. James Taylor - This guy is the musical equivalent of Sominex.
  19. Desperado Out Of Control Wasted Time Get Over It Learn To Be Still
  20. Mam: If you live in Allentown, you're not the only Raspberries fan in town. I've been here since 1986 and been a fan since the 1st album. Rich
  21. And for those people in Pennsylvania, Joey Molland & Badfinger will be at the Sellersville Theatre on Sunday, 3/2 http://www.st94.com/music/2008_03.html
