  1. Jeez, Tony, does every thread have to turn political! We get it! You hate George Bush! Who doesn't? Move on fer chrissakes!
  2. Chris: I have to agree. You'll notice I didn't weigh in on either the political debate or Eric's current situation. Truth is I come here for the camaraderie, but mostly for info about Eric and his music. I can have my "pointless point of view", as Billy Joel said, but nothing I or anyone else says in this forum is going to change another person's political viewpoint, or their viewpoint regarding Eric's actions, or, for that matter, any viewpoint. People defend their opinions and feelings get hurt and, for what? It's a waste of time and energy to try to convince someone to change their opinion. Everybody brings their own unique experiences as the basis for their beliefs and ideals, and unless you've "walked a mile in their shoes", you're not really going to understand where they're coming from, much less have the ability to speak intelligently to their motives etc. Bottom line is while I believe in a constructive give-and-take, I don't believe that any one person's opinion is any more "right" than the other; and attacking another person's opinion is futile, not to mention potentially hurtful and in direct conflict with the atmosphere Bernie is trying to foster here. Anyway, that's what I think. Rich
  3. My wife is away on business, so my daughter and I ordered out for Papa John's pizza.
  4. Darlene: Happy belated birthday! Hope you had a great day. Rich
  5. She's a former beauty contest winner. Can't wait to see old pics of her showing up on the net. Anyone see the movie "The Contender"?
  6. John: I loved the Magic Christian's 1st cd. I was looking forward to the 2nd and went to the link to order it, but $7.50 shipping is way out of line. I'll wait until it's available from Amazon and pay a more reasonable $2.89 shipping fee. Rich
  7. I scored an 80, but guessed on several answers
  8. Just wanted to thank everyone for the outpouring of support. It means a great deal. What has helped me get through this difficult time is treating job-hunting like a job. I'm on the net from 9:00am every weekday morning checking the different job sites and chasing down leads. It helps to have some structure so I don't feel like I'm doing this aimlessly. I am also extremely blessed in that I have one of the most understanding and supportive wives that anyone could hope for. She is a registered nurse and makes a good wage. Her job provides benefits so we are not faced with outrageous COBRA payments. As I said, extremely blessed. All I can do is make a solid effort to find a job and wait for the odds to finally catch up to me. Again, all the support is greatly appreciated and I'll always take all the prayers I can get. God Bless Rich
  9. Chris: I've been keeping a low profile over the last 3 or 4 months because I was also laid off from a job that I enjoyed as well. I spend every day scouring CareerBuilders, Monster, and Jobs.com and have signed with several agencies to try to find employment. All with no luck. It's not that there aren't jobs out there. I'm finding I'm either too expensive or too experienced; and even if I offer to take a lower wage, the employer won't hire me because they're afraid I'll leave for a higher paying job. A beautiful Catch-22. So I can sympathize with you. My health was suffering the first 2 months from stress -- not sleeping, blood pressure sky high, etc. Finally I realized worrying over something I can't control was only causing me more grief; so now I concentrate on the things I can control: making sure my resume is up to snuff; that I follow leads when they come up and that I make a real effort to find a job. Not much else I can do. Don't know if this is helpful to you, but this is how I handled the situation. I wish you the best of luck and hope that fortune smiles on you soon. God Bless Rich
  10. Just wanted to take a moment to thank my online family for all the birthday greetings and well-wishes. It's very much appreciated. Thanks Rich
  11. Marvin: The Bill Chinook album has just been released on cd. I forgot how much I liked this. Great gritty soul vocals. Rich
  12. 1. American Tune 2. Kodachrome 3. Something So Right
  13. Maybe because Arista marketed Eric as a lame Manilow-esque ballad singer. Not exactly the kind of artists SNL was booking in 1977.
  14. Vera: As I said, no apology is necessary. I just wanted to clarify why I posted the second comment. My hide isn't that thin that I would take offense at someone else's opinion. Rich
  15. So, let me get this straight. There is a section called: The Inside Story that says: Have a question? Ask Eric. I asked an innocent question that apparently a number of other people wanted the answer to. And after several weeks of having the question ignored, I asked: Is it safe to assume that, for whatever reason, you do not want to answer this question? I'm not sure how that constitutes knicker-twisting. Just putting the issue to bed in my mind. Rich
  16. Billy: For a Dylan primer, I'd suggest: Bringing It All Back Home, Highway 61 Revisited, Blonde On Blonde, and Blood On The Tracks. You can't go wrong starting there. Rich
  17. Eric: Is it safe to assume that, for whatever reason, you do not want to answer this question?
  18. Butch Walker has postponed the recording of his upcoming album and scheduled tour dates, according to a statement on his MySpace blog. Walker said he is postponing the completion of his record for personal reasons. Walker also apologized to fans who bought plane tickets and made travel plans to attend one of his concerts. He goes on to say, "I have to do what's right," without further elaboration. Walker said he will make the postponements up to his fans with an "amazing" record. He also said all tour dates will be rescheduled.
  19. Ira: I was at the 3:00 show at Sellersville and couldn't agree more. He still has a great voice and the best moment for me was when he sang "Rock N Roll Lullaby". Sellersville would be a great place to see the Raspberries, don't you agree? Rich
