  1. This thread reminded me of an Ian Hunter concert I just caught. (BTW, Ian is still a crowd pleaser, in great vocal form and with all of his chops intact). He performed the AMAZING Mott The Hoople track, "Roll Away The Stone" and in the bridge where he asks the question, "Gonna bring your records?" (the response on the LP is "Oh, will do!") he substituted an updated lyric saying, "Gonna bring your CDs?" To which the rythym guitarist responded, "F--k CDs! I'm bringing vinyl!" Made me laugh. Bernie
  2. Julia, I found the complete opposite to be true. eBay *does not* actively pursue forgeries. They are everywhere! Buyer beware is an excellent rule of thumb on eBay. Bernie
  3. Hey Poor4-- I can definitely help you get a personal autograph from Eric. E-mail me and I'll give you the details. Eric has been very generous with autograph requests from his fans. Bernie PS: If anyone is interested in buying Eric autographs on eBay, shoot me an e-mail and I'll help authenticate the items for you. WARNING: More than half of the autographs I see listed are forgeries!
  4. You see...we *can* all get along. Now if only Eric would stop by and give everyone a group hug. Bernie :-)
  5. Okay. Let me take this opportunity to add that posts like these (no offense, BTW) show just how quickly it can turn. Bernie PS: Eric does read the Message Board.
  6. I'm pretty sure I fielded this question before. The last time Eric participated on a Message Board he did so in a big way -- posting dozens of messages daily. It was before EC.com and there was an Eric Carmen fan board over on America Online. Needless to say, it got ugly FAST. Not only did Eric come under uncalled-for personal attacks but he was also (believe it or not) thrown off of AOL because one of his "fans" complained to the board monitors. Some of this web site's regulars were there and are free to chime in. That being said, there is nothing stopping Eric from posting here. Maybe one day he will. Bernie
  7. Ken and I just completed our last "marathon" interview with Eric. We needed to fill in some of the holes and in doing so got answers to some questions that I believe have never been asked before. GREAT stuff! Anyway, we're closing in on the final manuscript now. There are still a couple more interviews we need to finish. After that, it's proofread, sent to the printer and delivered to your mailbox :-) I'll have some updated timelines, etc. this weekend along with some interesting news itrems Eric let out of the bag when I update the web site this weekend. Bernie
  8. Jeff, You might be right. Maybe my flip side was backed up with "Valerie?" Bernie
  9. "Tapioca Thundra' -- flipside of "Daydream Believer" by the Monkees. Come to think of it, maybe this response should have gone in the "hard to admit, but I actually like it" folder? Bernie :-)
  10. Hey, don't get me wrong. I like my top two Tom Petty songs a lot! Bernie
  11. My top three Tom Petty songs: 1. American Girl 2. I Need to Know 3. Umm. I guess I only have two :-) Bernie
  12. Here's some perspective: Celine Dion's Falling Into You CD sold some 32,000,000 copies (and counting). There can be no doubt that most young people are familiar with Eric *ONLY* through Celine's version of his classic tune. Bernie
  13. Jeff, I'm sure they'll reprise the songs tonight in the elimination voting. Two of the judges (not Simon :-) gave the singer a standing ovation, calling it the best performance to date. Bernie
  14. Dave, You're right. I was proud of Eric last night. The closest comparison I could come to would be "Yesterday" about 20 years ago. Back then, it was the contemporary standard ballad of ballads. Sung everywhere and by everyone. Now, I'd venture to say, it is a lost classic. But "All By Myself" has somehow crept into its spot as the song more often sung on more occasions than any other. In fact, just the other day, I heard someone who works in my office sing it. It must be really cool to have written something with such enduring greatness. Bernie
  15. Wouldn't it be refreshing if she sang something besides "All By Myself?" I guess we'll have to tune in and see. Bernie
  16. IMHO, Eric's original (pre disco) demo of "Change of Heart" is much better than the LP cut. No high-hat :-) Bernie

    Nice! Congratulations. Bernie
  18. It's a fairly new song. I've been hearing it for the past couple of weeks on K-Rock and saw the music video yesterday on MTV. It's worth checking out. Bernie
  19. Anyone think "Silver and Cold" by A.F.I. is the closest thing to Jellyfish since Andy Sturmer packed up his drum set? These guys are techically a Punk band, but Punk seems to have really gotten a heavy dose of Power Pop in recent days. Also worth noting is their tune "Girl's Not Grey." Bernie
  20. How 'bout: Q: How many mice does it take to screw in a lightbulb? A: Two. The hard part is getting them in the lightbulb. Bernie
  21. In no particular order: 1. Havin' My Baby 2. Brown Eyed Girl 3. Kung Fu Fighting 4. Tie a Yellow Ribbon 5. Wind Beneath My Wings 6. The Macarena 7. Don't Worry (Be Happy) 8. I Am Woman 9. Feelings 10. MacArthur Park Bernie
  22. Darlene, Everytime you say "travelling in a Polka Band," I think John Candy in "Home Alone." "Kiss Me Polka?" "Polka, Polka, Polka?" Bernie
  23. Don Martin was the king of the written sound effect. I mean, how could anyone forget PFFFFFFLIFFFFTH? Or SPLOINK? Bernie :-)
  24. Growing up, I thought that MAD Magazine artist Don Martin was a genius. I haven't seen any of his drawings in quite a while and am wondering if I'd still find them funny. Bernie
