Leonard Bernstein

Last evening in the NJ/NY area our PBS station featured: The life of composer Leonard Bernstein.

It was two hours of a wonderful commentary of an idol of mine.

As a child I studied Piano and organ, and remember what an inspiration he was to music students with his Young Peoples'Concerts. I adore classical music and attribute much of the understanding to this musical genius.

I hope others caught this great show.....

Missed it, but Bernstein was certainly an inspiration and a fascinating character. I always felt assured that there was someone out there doing what he was doing—as a teacher, advocate and artist. I had (and still have somewhere) a boxed set of 45s of his lectures from the Young People's Concerts and, naturally, piles o' LPs and CDs of his recordings.

Maybe it will be rebroadcast...

Sorry I missed it also... Regardless of musical tastes, credit must be given where due. PBS tends to re-air these specials especially during Pledge Week so hopefully we can catch it again.
